  1. I was quoting the owd Canadian git who came back and posted again.
  2. Does anyone seriously think that Butcher will not start Raven and Sutherland ?
  3. That's it--I'm off this thread permanently now. Will you admit to looking
  4. http://youtu.be/tqRaeFx_7Es
  5. Owd gits Can I suggest that you complete a Mini Mental Heatlh Examination  The mini–mental state examination (MMSE) or Folstein test is a brief 30-point questionnaire test that is used to screen for cognitive impairment. It is commonly used in medicine to screen for dementia. It is also used to estimate the severity of cognitive impairment at a specific time and to follow the course of cognitive changes in an individual over time, thus making it an effective way to document an individual's response to treatment.
  6. The content of this thread tends to support the fact that we need to clone Richie Foran. I suspect that any proper poll would have two or three different postitions hitting similar percentages as posters have different views. In fact, to me, his best position was when he played wide left and skightly deeper but he doesnt have the pace nowadays and playing him there as a leader would be a complete waste of time. As he showed at Well he could be an accomplished holding centre forward but I am not shure whether the Foran/Shinnie combination would work in that setting. Shinnie does not appear to wish to be a striker and tends to favour drifting back in to the "hole" and either taking people on or drifting behind defenders. That is another reason why I wanted to give Shane a run and concentrate building up his strengths and knowledge of the position, especially learning from Foran at training sessions. I concede that it may not work but it certainly is worth the try - or was as it would be very difficult to put Shane up front at this stage of the season and potentially crush any confidence that he does have. That is why I would prefer McKay or Oswell to partner Foran if he played up front, although it will be interesting to see how Rastamouse fits in. The bottom line is that apart from Foran we dont have any centre forwards. The concern is that I felt that we really totally overused the tactic at Well and other coaches will now be aware of it and nullify it. I can see the logic in playing him a Russell Duncan type role in front of the defence, especially from the leadership and motivation perspective but I am not shure whether he would embrace playing there and have an inkling that he would drift out of frustration. Again he could certainly play in a two man midfield but that would be better with Foran being more of a ball player and somebody else in the hole. That may work but again I feel that the only player in the squad who could take on that role is Morrison and then we would have to "drop" Draper. So that is why I would play him at sweeper alongside Warren, even in the short term. Warren looks the better player in the air and has more pace and movement. Foran could be a very effective leader in that position. It also allows him to be a "target" at dead ball situations. I suspect that it would also be good for Esson and Meekings and Shinnie would benefit as well and our midfield pairing would also be on their toes. It would undoubtedly detract from our offensive options but we desperately need to strengthen our defensive aspects. We have shown that we can score goals without Foran but you win points if you dont concede. My selection if we had been playing today would be: Esson Meekings Foran Warren G. Shinnie McKay Morrison Draper Doran A.Shinnie Oswell My concerns are that Butcher follows his usual stubborn pattern and perseveres with Raven,Shane and OTJ. The big surprise to me is that we havent gone for a more traditional centre forward instead of contracting McKay and Oswell - but there again maybe we did ?
  7. Well - at least I will be there and may even don the IHE traditional outfit to try and get a wee bit of a feckin sing song.
  8. I hope it will get better too but I'm 100% sure we won't get any points from Aberdeen tomorrow. ;) Laurence is a divvy
  9. This is beginning to resemble repetitive, destructive, soul destroying obsessional behaviour akin to adhering to the selections of Djebi Zade, Eric Odhiambo and David Proctor (out of position)!! Replace with David Raven and Shane Sutherland (out of position)!!
  10. Leave the psychology to me ya owd fecker but I will at least try the potential cure
  11. He could also snuggle under his duvet and watch Rastamouse.
  12. Or just ignore you now  Insistent pests are difficult to ignore, especially intelligent ones.
  13. May I again point out that I am not Doofers Dad.
  14. Good points but we had Doran and Shinnie dropping deeper and deeper to pick up the ball and Shane dropping deeper to help out G Shinnie - OTJ went missing in action, Draper was holding midfield himself but was often further forward than Shinnie and Doran - we really were crab like in the midfield passing and movement and nearly all balls hit with a forward momentum where aimed at poor Foran. How many times did we actually get behind their central defenders or past their full backs ?
  15. Agree that he needs a bit more time but that should not shelter him from constructive criticism - which appears to have become a by-law on this forum !!
  16. What time does the train leave Glasgow ??
  17. Bughtmaster - your comment about nobody commanding the defence is spot on and one that I had'nt considered before. I feel that Ryan does not appear to be as imposing and as voiciferous an influence as he has been in the past. And we aint got anybody who probably feels experienced enough or at the club long enough to take on that role. King is probably the only one who has more proven experience and leadership qualities requisite for the role. That is another reason why I feel that Foran really stood out when he played in the "sweeper" role. It is however a very intersting and valid observation. In fact who do we have other than Foran ? I have said a lot but nobody appears to wish to challenge me and as there were some worthy posters at the game I can only suspect that they either agree or are scared of me !! You do not always have to be privy to the dressing room discussions to make observations and comments about tactics. To recap briefly - Foran was MOM by a country mile, he was often effective but the ploy was overused, with no apparent back up, and poor Richie looked fecked in the last 20 minutes; I havent noticed if we always use the no cover on the near post ploy at corners before but it was a clear tactic before and after the first goal and was being quite loudly pointed out by a number of fans at the game at the time. All I was alluding to there is that it certainly isnt a traditional tactic in fact many oldies, including maself, would frown on it. In Many ways it could be put down to Esson but that is a fair degree of goalmouth and angles that have to be covered when there is nobody standing guard at the front post. By the way the rear post was always covered and always by Shinnie; I can see the logic in double teaming Higdon but I question whether Well had been watched in regard to the danger of Humphrey. It could well be that McCall should get the credit for doing his homework on us. My main beef there was Butcher's clear faulting of Shinnie and Draper but that was brilliant wing play with a lad with a lot of pace; Heads did go down after the Raven mistake and you could feel the expectancy die in the stands; We could well have really got back in the game if not for two great saves by Randolph and a further error by A Shinnie which again produced a very well executed fourth goal. Finally I dont think Meekings is a SPL center half but he and especially Warren put in a great shift. I also thought that Raven had defended well before his error and Shinnie had recovered after a start when he was left alone to deal with Humphrey. That is why I felt that it wasnt particularly the defence that had let us down, as alluded to by Butcher, but it was more to do with the middle of the park and the tactics employed. I suppose that it also really cheesed me off that Butcher projected the blame on the players, singling some out when I feel that he should be keeping that to the dressing room and taking on - or even accepting - some of the blame himself. By the way we far from outplayed Muvversmell - we matched them for long periods.
  18. Much better coverage and backs up my perceptions - apologies to Shane but Meekings should have gone fer that challenge: http://youtu.be/jhunnyBbLS0
  19. Why dont we put CaleyD and CharlieB on the floor and drive a quad bike over them at half time - I would pay the driver £50.00 for that - with instructions.
  20. I dunno. Do you think you have been smitting others on here? If anybody loved your post then they are clearly narcissitic - whereas I am an anti-narcissit: The concept of antinarcissism was proposed by Francis Pasche in 1964. The context was a theoretical debate seeking initially to define narcissism and then to describe its role in psychic development. The difficulties, complexities, and, for some, the aporias of narcissism led to two antithetical choices. Some abandoned the notion of primary narcissism, giving a fundamental role to the primary object-relation (this was true of the English school, Michael Balint, and John Bowlby). Others, like Paul Federn and Béla Grunberger, were led to separate narcissism from the libido. This, it seemed to them, was necessary in order to account for the ubiquity of narcissism in mental life. But this was not the opinion of Francis Pasche, who chose to reintroduce a duality, or even a dialectic, into the concept of narcissism itself (1965). Both narcissism and antinarcissism were characterized for Pasche by an object and a direction. The object was the same for both: the ego. The direction, however, was not the same: centripetal for narcissism, centrifugal for antinarcissism. Antinarcissism could be thought of as a centrifugal investment, in which the subject tends to be divested of the self, to give up their own substance and reserves of love, and to do this independently of any economic factors. In this sense, anti-narcissism is actually a manifestation of Thanatos, that is, of unbinding separation and dispersion, but not of aggressiveness. There is a striking convergence between Francis Pasche's conception of antinarcissism and what Sándor Ferenczi called, in his final writings, the "altruistic drive" (1949, fragment dated 24 August 1930).
  21. I take it that if nobody who was at the game is challenging this post that I must have got it spot on ?
  22. Fecin great song
  23. Apologies but tactics, selection and formation - we deffo have the players if we could only get the system sorted out.
