  4. Feck me - have you been on the red vino too or wot ?
  5. It looks like Terry Butcher and Alex Ferguson do have something in common - Red wine consumption  Was Graeme or is it Graham Morrison actually there ?
  6. Well - therefore - it is a shrewd commercial suggestion that I have proferred. I would even be willing to provide free autographed photties.
  7. Fortunately it would appear that we are trying to get a squad as full of "regulars" as possible. I suspect that we are awaiting responses from at least another two short contract contacts and then we may look at loanees if unsuccessful. If injuries hit us again loanees are the way out.
  8. Some fat *******s come good in the end
  9. Well the old adage is that any new manager needs 3-4 years to make any significant process and should not be judged until that period is over. TB evidently initially inherited a struggling side and had to endure a year in the SFL. Whatever is said he did remarkable to help get us back in a year and no truthful away traveller could argue with the joy derived from that 12 months undefeated run. And they say that such a manager clears out a squad until it is their chosen team/squad, irrespective of what that process entails. And they say that good managers employ a system and back ups to encase the chosen players and ensure that there is cover for all eventualities and players are played to their strengths, bringing along a togetherness factor and a play fer the shirt mentality. Well TB is probably almost there in theory and now has to show that it all adds up in practice - Cometh the hour, Cometh the man ?
  10. What we need is a player like Jan Venegoor of Hesselink and sell the letters at £1.00 each. Mind you if we did that with IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER t-shirts we could make an extra £19.00 a time - and it would be the ideal gift for stalkers like furball and Noelinbred.
  11. Lets face it - we have got four potentially worthwhile signings. The positives to me are that Butcher has evidently mainly sought out players with a degree of experience- and the level that they have been playing at - sad to say - is not far away from the modern day SPL standard. He also has a trio of players in Draper, Warren and Raven who are "leaders", have captaincy experience and certainly sound as if they have fought for the cause or the shirt at previous clubs. Oswell and Pepper may well be extremely raw but at least Oswell has a history of scoring goals - and again irrespective of the level - he clearly is a budding goalscorer and that is what we have all been shouting for. The squad may not be complete but there is now a fair mix of experience and potential in there and Scots as well. I fer one am glad that we have left the loan signings to last and lest hope that the injury prone last the pace. We may well have to accept that this year is the consolidation period and the aim must to be to keep this lot together for next season. My lingering worry is that Terry and Mo can alter their styles and man manage, influence and nurture this squad. Should have added that Reguero is potentially the shrewdest signing of the lot. For the last couple of seasons we have been so fortunate to have Esson and Tuffey - this season again we are one of a very few clubs who have such a capable back up and/or competition fer the No 1 spot.

  15. Well I love the "home" trip to Killie but I am NOT going to pay those ****s any money this season.
  16. Aaah the memories - a kicking on the grass terraces of Borough Briggs.
  17. What about this excellent statement from Stranraer: The committee of Stranraer FC met this evening to discuss the papers recently received in advance of the SFL clubs meeting. The papers indicate a number of proposals and scenarios to deal with the potential vacancy that would occur if the expulsion of an SPL club occurs this week. The committee unanimously agreed that the proposals are produced in haste and are unconvinced about the justification for departing from the rules and standards that the SFL represent. As a club recently faced with possible extinction and fighting our way back from financial difficulties we fully understand the position that a club could find themselves placed in and as a supporters run club, fully understand the passions of the supporters of clubs affected by such an event. We are not convinced at the emotive language currently being aired to describe the potential ramifications to our game should a NewCo not be given special case treatment and consider that the benefits that could be negotiated do not counter balance the damage that would be done to the credibility of the SFL as a governing body. We hold the stance that it is our place to act in the best long term interests of Stranraer FC and for Scottish Football as a whole and see no reason to breach the integrity of the SFL by filling a vacancy at any level other than at the lowest tier. The possibility of placing a NewCo at any other level breaches the sporting competition of our organisation and compromises the very structure of our game. There should not be a special case made for any club and we believe that the proper place for a phoenix club to restart life is at the lowest level. We believe it is right and proper than any club should have the right to apply for the resulting vacancy and we would then form a view on which club we would support for election to any vacancy based on the presentation case made by the applicants. Irrespective of the size, stature, history and resources of the club filling the vacancy, the opportunity exists for that club to find their way back to their natural tier in the league structure in a fair and equitable manner while being encouraged to trade and exist successfully within the means at their disposal. Restructuring of the league set-up and governing bodies is complex and difficult with many differing views and interests across the clubs in the spectrum. The current proposal has been compiled as a reaction to the unique and unexpected circumstances we are faced with and while there are clearly a number of ingredients that have great merit, this is too great an issue to be dealt with in this seemingly indecent haste.
  18. It is alright as you started off as an ersehole but I feel that you have taken on my words of wisdom. Not shure what the post has got to do with Ross Draper though and is wholly contradictive anyway.
  19. This whole sordid affair has totally feckin bored me but the antics of Doncaster and the pathetic "apology" by Murray have made us a total laffing stock. Now who I do concur with is the Raith who hasnt minced his words or emotions: "(We are being) bullied, rail-roaded, lied to," Hutton said on his arrival at Hampden. "We have been threatened and bullied. It's not football as I know it. "It was a ridiculous document that came out last week, whereby that threat was there if we don't vote for an acceptance into the First Division a breakaway SPL2 will come along and all those clubs that didn't vote won't be invited. "What kind of a game are we running? Corrupt."
  20. Oh gawd - not another righteous ersehole.
  21. Now that is as good and succinct a post as you have delivered in a long time. Hayes was frustrating and inconsistent. He could produce a moment of brilliance and there was always a sense of anticipation when he got involved but that only happened infrequently and he tended to disappoint more than enthrall, plus our game plans were often centred around him. I really felt that Gillet could blossom as a "sweeper". The quote about Tokely is as good a testimonial as I could muster and it says it all - apart from the fact that his "legs" were beginning to struggle to react to his undoubted determination.
