  1. Amen brother - but what was the point in pointing that out ?
  2. Which number is Dougal in ?
  3. Actually if you care to look up the textbook charcateristics of a narcissistic personality then Terry fits the bill - and my observations are psychodynamically orientated. You cannot reach a rational formulation by being pseudo. But I have to admit that my views are becoming like a scratched CD but I am merely hoping for a sign for the better - which has not happened since my initial "diagnosis". I am not sure whether you have been able to focus your rose tinted spectacles on the many positive attributes that I have noted in the Butcher personailty quota. I wasnt referring to a high standard centre forward - and feck me Tore Andre Flo wasnt one anyway !! - but a player who has experience of playing in that role and is more of a front runner and a target man - perhaps even a promising loanee. Peronally I think that Sutherland could have the potential and that Tade should be allowed to plough the furrow up front in the headless chicken role but Terry has not given either of them the chance to show if they can or not. He can be frustratingly tunnel visioned at times. Anyway I detect that you are probably projecting your frustrations on to me and away from our beloved leader - I am strong enuff to cope.
  4. Here is some reading fer ya !!
  5. I have actually gone for "fairly satisfied" because I do not feel that you can simply ignore the bad luck and injuries that we have suffered this season and the problems with the likes of Hayes and Doran have led to us losing shape and the forward motion and easy ball attitude. Terry is a fantastic "ambassador" for the club but I would prefer to have him as a Director of Football and have a manager with more tactical nous at the helm. I only wish that I could have a few sessions with him to work on the Narcisstic personality deficits.
  6. I did choke on my Farley's Rusk as I read this and got a hell of an itch in ma Cellic tattoo  I then had to go to the mirror and check that ma ICT one was still intact. Good, honest article - the bit that interested me was the suggestion that too much emphasis is placed on the physical nature of the game in training and the lack of skill, finesse and tactics do shine through. From a psychological perspective the use of the well known Austrian phrase " he would never stab you in the back" was an interesting choice !!
  7. I feel that we have a relatively strong squad and - although I dont agree with them - there will have to be an emphasis on loanees. I actually think that we have the core of a good squad but I remain frustrated by the adherence to a system that does'nt work. Personally I would like to see us a sign an experienced holding midfielder and a target man.
  8. Well I dare anyone to watch a re-run of this on Alba and feel any semblance of satisfaction at the final whistle. OK - we struggled back and earned a vital point which with our vastly superior goal difference means that we would have to go the rest of the season pointless and Dumbfarmlife will have to pick up at least three wins and at least 11 points and they only have 8 more games and 24 points left to play with (but 5 games and 15 points come in the split when some teams tend to look at potentials for next season - which leaves a 3 horse race). Again how many people were simply satisfied with the final score ? Oh and dont forget that it was a depleted Killie side yesterday with eyes on greater arenas than the Longman Dump. Well I am in that group but I was hoping to see a few more positives and I didnt really get them. The only positive that I felt was present was the holding play of wee McKay but playing him up front on his lonesome is negligible. Tansey, as I have alluded to for weeks, can look like a player because of his swagger and his demeanour but he is not being played as a midfield general. He again was overshadowed by Foran who again works his socks off and his determination can not be faulted but I still feel that his best position is in the Tade role on the left. As for the rest I have said it all before. We can have a go at some of the players but they probably feel that they are not being played in a position where their strengths are utilised to the maximum. It is the tactics and the "system" that is letting us down. There may well be a call for armchair managers but the opinions and perspectives of the majority of the posters on this site can see that we have got it wrong this season and the majority are becoming more and more vocal. But we too are picking up scapegoats in players and it is the management that have to take some of the blame. However I likened Gnapka as a "male model" due my previous pre ICT sightings off him. He is an expense that we could do without. I suspect that he probably expected a regular first team place and he will be a broody boy and looking at new horizons in the summer. But who took him here in the first place ? And I was equally interested in hearing what Terry had to say after the match: For them to get a point out of the game is a joke as far as I'm concerned," he said. (I did'nt laff) " They should have got nothing, (I thought that they were worth the draw) but we haven't done enough to put the ball in the back of the net. (agree and encouraged by the use of "we") "The players have to accept that what they're doing isn't good enough in terms of being ruthless." (Oops - the we disappeared when apportioning of the blame takes place) We've asked him (Cammy Bell) questions but not enough. I think we've only got ourselves to blame on that. (Back to the "we" - now we are going to get some self discloosure ?) "I remember saying these words a few weeks ago, then a few months ago and at the start of the season. It's like a scratched CD as far as I'm concerned. "OOPS, its the scratched CD comparison. When I have a scratched CD I chuck it out and get a new one" "How many chances did we have today? Probably about 20. Not so much clear-cut chances, but we scored one goal. That ratio does not work in football. (A centre forward would help or playing our potential goal getters in a forward role) "The really good thing is that we are making the chances and, like I say, we dominated the game. (That is really struggling for positives and has a scratched CD feel to it) "However, for us not to get three points in this game's an absolute travesty." (ah - lets finish off with a powerful word that focusses the blame elsewhere)

Just look at the likes of Swansea and what can be achieved by sticking to a system and core players trying to pass the ball at every opportunity. When you have a system you should sign players who can fit in to it or get players to adapt by playing them consistently in that role. To be fair to Terry he has tried to be innovative at times but we have some players who simply do not have the prowess to adapt.
  10. Every time I drink a bottle of voddie before a game ICT never fail to entertain me.
  11. David Sutherland the builder ?
  12. I would have thought that a more apt Sherman composition for Terry would have been "Trust In Me" from the Jungle Book !!! http://youtu.be/F1ILPl5FQaM
  13. Nine points and they fecked it up - it could be an even better song if they win their game in hand.
  14. Suggest that you can add "when played in the correct position" or "when motivated" for the large majority.
  15. The proverbial penny appears to be dropping
  16. I could give several examples but lets just limit it to Tansey, Tade and Sutherland Tansey simply is not a defensive holding midfielder. He has been put in that role becos of the injury and subsequent departure of Cox and the decision to play Foran in central midfield. Tansey's apparent qualities is that he looks adept at oving in to space to receive passes, he has good first control, he does tend to look at options available to him but playing deep he is either under instruction to hoof rather than try summat fancy or he simply gets pressurised and goes in to a bit of panic mode. The holding role is summat that Duncan did to perfection when he had a ball player beside him. He stuck to that position, had the experience to cover and shadow front runners and always tended to seek the simple pass. He often fecked things up when he tried to do summat a little bit too fancy. Cox was of similar ilk. Tade is an enigma. His positives and negatives is that he is totally unpredictable. The opposition cant second guess him, his colleagues never know exactly what is going to happen next and Tade is a headless chicken who probably doesnt know exactly what he is going to do next. But allow him to play as a headless chicken, running manically around the final third of the pitch, hassling and harrying and using his pace on the last line of defence. Sure he will probably feck up 70-80 % of the time but he pays dividends with the other 20-30 %. Sticking him out wide and encouraging him to drop back and defend is a total waste of a player. He hasnt got the know how to play in a tactical role. Recently I have seen him tried as a switching role from wide, central and defence minded - it will never work. To me Sutherland could be the "foil" for Tade and McKay. To me he comes across as more of a traditional centre forward - a target man. Sure his ball control is dodgy and his distribution poor but he has real upper body strength and is adept at holding the ball up and holding off defenders. If he could learn that skill and the added skill of laying the ball off to attacking midfielders then he may progress. Playing him deep or wide or in a switch role simply will not work.
  17. Tuffey Proctor Williams Gillet Shinnie Ross Tansey Tudor-Jones Foran Winnall Tade Gnapka
  18. "But that's the way it's been going this season, we get into good positions and fail to hit the target. "We got so far but that extra little bit is what puts United in the top six and leaves us where we are. "There's a lot of soul-searching to do because, inside that dressing room, there's a team there. In games we've played very well and not got the rewards. "What does that come down to? I don't think it's ability. It's down to other factors. And we haven't been strong enough in that department." My Gawd - is he referring to tactics and team selection ??
  19. Come on - Munro got the boot in the Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole mode. He became a spokesman and spoke the feelings of the dressing room - and took the hit. But Munro is gone and that does not detract from the fact that we have not found a replacement for him and continued to play the game in a tactically naieve fashion. I am afraid that there are shades of Brewster developing.
  20. One word again - Narcissist. Butcher is probably the most likeable, charming, charismatic and consuming manager that has ever graced the Highland football scene. He is a media darling and a figurehead for ICT. He puts us on the map across Britain. He can certainly talk the talk. But he cant walk the walk. He is sadly lacking in the game of man management, is bereft in the skill of decision making and tactically is poor. His reaction is to chop and change and always picks out a scapegoat or lays the whole blame on the team. I suspect that he will change it again and he may take back in Williams, Tudor Jones, Winnal and even Gnapka - and we get a result and he says "I told you so". We have won quite a few games this season becos of individual displays. The best role for Butcher would be as a Director of Football but we cant afford that position any more - plus the fact that his personality suits the needs of Mr sutherland & Co. But he will lead us to survival and we may even pick up after the split - and he will be there next season. It will also be heralded that we have had to endure a nightmare season where injuries to key players have had a real influence but that does not detract from the woeful emploment of tactics at times. Are you trying to tell me that Tade, Ross, Sutherland and McKay are happy to play in the roles that they have been given - are they feck but they will not speak out as they know what the reprisal will be. And how do you think that Williams and Shinnie are feeling this evening - sitting on the bench - watching a half fit loanee and a struggling legend taking their place.
  21. Can anyone actually tell me what role has been given to Nicky Ross in the last two games ?
  22. So far it would appear to be Forans fault cos it cant be the tactics. But, hang on, it simply cant be Foran's fault. Who the feck can we hang the blame on to ?
  23. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear - lets change the side, the positions and the system once again. Lets stick to the olde faithful and shunt anyone who can be scapegoated reactively to the previous defeat. I wonder what the "excuse" or projected blame will fall on this week.
  24. But will a draw and a point be sufficient to continue the push for a Top Six place ?
  25. My "fear" is that Terry will slot in Proc as a central defender - he is more likely to make a "big" mistake in that zone and most would agree that he has never had the confidence, technique, build or natural ability to play in the role. I have never had any such "fear" when he is played elsewhere. I do however accept that when he makes an error or a slip it is magnified in the perspective of some, perhaps most fans.
