  1. Apologies as it should have read one-upmanship which is still really one word. Its meaning is " The art of outdoing or showing up a rival or competitor, as in exploits, privileges, or honors." or " A cycle of trying to one-up or outdo an opponent" - very, very apt. If I were to utilise two words they would be "Projected Control" It is sometimes easier for us to control others when indeed we cannot control ourselves. To control ourselves, we have to know ourselves. However, instead of taking the time to look at our attributes and deficiencies, we project them on to others and turn these other people into "puppets" of ourselves. By controlling others on whom we've projected ourselves, we are, in essence, feeling in control of ourselves. An alternative may be "human puppetry".
  2. So it was David Proctor who got us in to the SPL - I never realised that before. If he is played in the most appropriate position - which definitely isnt central defender - and he regains his self confidence which has been shattered at times in the past - he is a good enuff professional. He never gives less than 100% but he is really prone to lapses in concentration and letting his head go down.
  3. One word - oneupmanship.
  4. From a psychological perspective I suspect that this particular "experience" occurred in a dream. The interpretation is clearly an imagined meeting with Craig Brewster.
  5. And I thought that I had a vivid feckin imagination !!
  6. Robbo and Terry probably would but their allegiances to the warring factors would never allow it. As for coaching I would have to say that wee Parkie was the influence in a good partnership - a pairing that was considerably better than Pele and Shearer and put Terry and Mo in to third place. Butcher is the most charismatic character by far but tactically he is lacking. Perhaps it is a sign that you need a forward minded coach in the system.
  7. Best feckin post on the boardroom power struggle investment rumour yet.
  8. Aye - remember those days - 3.00 kick offs every Saturday.
  9. No. Mark was in the Ross County youth before joining Hearts. Ally Ridgers was at ICT. Dont know if they're related. brothers and... there's another goalkeeping brother, Willie, who was at Nairn, Rothes and now Strathspey Thistle. How many families could boast having 3 goalkeepers in the family? The Goalkeeper family ?
  10. My cousin Billy McKenzie is not your brother Of course he is'nt cos my name is spelt with a MAC
  11. There should simply be a route to compensation in such circumstances.
  12. The clue was in the surname
  13. Holy Cow - Bartman and Robin ?
  14. I need to see you as soon as possible - you are feckin cracking up - could be Butcherphenia.
  15. If reactivity is the name of the game then how about: Esson Proctor Williams Tokely Gillet Hayes Foran Tansey Shinnie Tade McKay
  16. So its agreed - he plays in right midfield against the Arabs.
  17. I would just love to see the narcissism subdued by a post match statement that read along the lines of - "I have to accept part of the responsibility for that display today - I got it wrong". The players evidently have to shoulder a lot of the blame. Butcher has every rite to do things his way but he is really pisssing me off with his constant projecting and apportioning of that blame. I am also more cheesed off that we tend to put together a good display and then put in a lamentable one and I often feel that it is because of a lack of continuity in team selection and system and is far too reactive in a knee jerk sense.
  18. Change, change, change - how are we ever going to settle ?!!
  19. Well I thought I'd leave my contribution until most others had - and I really can't believe that only a few have mentioned the tactics which appeared to be employed by Terry and Mo - who in my opinion lost us the game. Meekings was left completely alone and stranded for most of the time. His lack of pace was evident but where was the cover in front of him and behind him. Did nobody else feel that Tansey and Foran were yards in front of the defence who played far too deep and Tansey and Foran were practically in a line most of the time and Davis had a feckin field day. Gillet should have been playing as a sweeper type role, covering Williams and the full backs - which he reverted to in the second half. How may times was Gillet practically trying to tackle in the areas that Tansey and Foran should have been patrolling. Then playing Tade wide left is tantamount to playing with ten men. He should have been allowed to play in the headless chicken role as the Rangers central defence aint exactly pacey and wee McKay shook them up at times. Please, please - can somebody tell me exactly where Nick Ross was playing yesterday. As fer Hayes he now produces something 2 times out of 10. Surely there must have been a case of switching his wings every so often - Rangers simply played him on to his right foot throughout. He was evidently told to stay high up the pitch and hug the touchline but who was supposed to be filling the gaping hole left by that tactic. As fer McKay up front as a lone striker - well give me a break. Proctor played well when he came on and undoubtedly the "reaction" will be to start him there again against the Arabs. And what about the reaction save for Esson although I feel that he could have done a lot better for the 3rd and the 4th goals. And to end I am not one who expects scinthillating football at the TCS or to beat the Old Firm - but I do expect us to know the feckin basics, especially with two intrenational defenders running the show - but we didnt - and that was a really, really bad Rangers X1 out there. And why shouldnt peeple be negative and have a go - that is what football and forums is all about.
  20. Well deserved and hopefully will herald a run in the team playing in his favoured position.
  21. Must be getting feckin old and tolerant
  22. Gabhaibh mo leisgeul. Ceart gu leòr. Tapadh leat. Alba gu bràth
  23. What did you say ?
  24. I am reliably informed that it is a Boca Juniors scarf - sent to Terry as a present of peace by Maradonna. But should he not be fined for selling yon big furry cone ?
