  1. And I still hold the record for the thread with most pages on the OvertheBridge. To be fair - I really liked the Soccer AM wind up.
  2. My tattoo is itching - who are they playing ?
  3. That is what happens on most forums fer fecks sake - take yer rose coloured glasses off. What is being highlighted is the apparent ealisation by some of the younger fans that the Muppets are clueless and simply not up to the task of running a Football club - and havent been for some considerable time. Some of them may well have the club at heart but they have made one faux pas after another for at least the last 3 seasons. The players and the management get most of the stick on here - and again that is what happens to most fans forums. Everybody is entitled to their opinions. I feel it is only when the precious Muppets are under fire that the newbies hit the board in clear pro muppet - and often intimidatory - fashion. The muppets appear to be above approach - they are not allowed to be challenged and derided - but then again they are a true Self Preservation Society.
  4. I evidently come in contact with many travellers in my job and my experience is that most of them are quite happy, some actually proud, to be called gypsies as they feel that is their history. Most of them dont like words like tinkers or taigs though. When I tell them about the County song they think it is brilliant.
  5. I have already cancelled my trip and I will be in the Park End at Goodison at 15.00.
  6. YOU'RE NOT GYPSIES ANY MORE
  7. This post has been removed by Johndo Mackenzie
  8. By his mere presence and known association.
  9. The penny feckin drops ?The honest man must be a perpetual renegade, the life of an honest man a perpetual infidelity. For the man who wishes to remain faithful must take himself perpetually unfaithful to all the continual, successive, indefatigable, renascent errors.? Charles Peguy quotes (French Poet, Philosopher and Essayist, 1873-
  10. Almost totally agree again - Butcher is raising the image - the problem is that it leaves Misspass in charge. John Motson is a legend - second only to David Coleman. But thank feck humpbackruin doesnt play fer ICT - reckon he would be a muppet.
  11. Perhaps this article may be of assistance: Gypsy 1. A member of a people that arrived in Europe in migrations from northern India around the 14th century, now also living in North America and Australia. Many Gypsy groups have preserved elements of their traditional culture, including an itinerant existence and the Romany language. 2. See Romany. 3. One inclined to a nomadic, unconventional way of life. 4. A person who moves from place to place as required for employment, especially: a. A part-time or temporary member of a college faculty. b. A member of the chorus line in a theatre production. c. A supporter of Ross County Football Club. The comedian Ben Miller has told FHM magazine that he has been battling with the BBC over the use of the word "Gypsy" in a comedy sketch for his show with Alexander Armstrong, The Armstrong and Miller Show (which will be broadcast next month): "We're having a debate at the moment with the BBC over whether we can say Gypsies, because they say Gypsies is a racist term, and you think "Yes it is but that's the point that we're making, that we were more racist in the 70s than we are now". "We wanted to make fun of racist public information films from the seventies, and considered using the word "Gypsy" in that context. After discussing the issue both amongst ourselves and with the BBC, we decided to use a different word, so that the target (racism) was clearer and the joke was funnier. These discussions are a normal, healthy part of writing a comedy show and help to make sure that we end up with something we can all have a ruddy good laugh at." The tale, not entirely surprisingly, is covered by the Daily Mail, along with other papers today, although it doesn't actually use the phrase "political correctness gone mad". Gill Brown, of the London Gypsy and Traveller Unit, told the Mail: "Romany Gypsies are an ethnic group so it depends on the way you are using it. If you use it in the correct context it is not racist. However, it can still be used as a slur and that is racist. But I don't know how Ben Miller was using it. The word was used in a very racist and discriminatory way for many years and then what happened was that the term moved to traveller to be all encompassing. So anybody that could be described as a traveller or a Gypsy became a traveller." A BBC spokesman said: "There are no banned words on the BBC; "Gypsy" isn't a banned word. This wasn't about the word itself, but about the sketch as a whole and the potential to cause offence. As with all comedy, it's about context, and in this particular case we felt there were less offensive ways of making the same joke." In the post-Sachsgate world, is the BBC being forced to become over-sensitive? Or is this just sensible cultural awareness? If you hate the feckin travellers clap your hands ?
  12. Who put the MMIK in Mike Smith ?
  13. I reckon, in the current climate, that I may be arrested for existing / breathing
  14. Ah the memories - and where are the threads about yon CaleyThistle/RossCounty fan who threatened legal action - what were his names ??
  15. Finding maself tending to agree with humpbackruin here. Any game againsy the ******* is important to win but the Alba Cup Final should provide us with a feckin good day out - full stop - and we need a feckin confidence boost pronto. The Doomhammers is a must win as Hairy alludes to but I really do not think that they will stay the course. I do not want Denzil to net but I hope that he and Bazza are given a standing home ovation and I hope that nobody complains about that !!
  16. Mike Smith is an ersehole (I take it that is a term of banter as it is speelt wrongly ?) - always has been. An eminent member of the muppets who are slowly destroying this club. Afraid there is not much we can do about it but it leaves everybody open to being thrown out - which will undoubtedly lead to some of the Barstewards dribbling at the thought of being able to use their muscle indiscriminately. I am being hugely serious that I have cancelled travelling overnight as I am seriously concerned that I may be one that is targetted - even if I go with sellotape around my gob and it aint worth losing my job over. It will be a long, long time before I enter the TCS again but will spend my spondoolachs on going away. Feck the Muppets. Caley D - you say dont go for tit for tat - but dont you just wish the Old Filth were still coming to town ?!!
  17. Personally I feel that part of the reason is the new stadium - in the First Division the singing section STOOD together and sometimes packed in together - there was a good atmosphere the season that we won the First Division - but again it is always better when we were winning. Perhaps Bobby Mann would disagree !!
  18. Wow - it is a good job that you didnt say that the sesh were meeting the muppets about the gypsies.
  19. Yes - I am always rite - well usually. Thanks for the acclaim.
  20. What we are also lacking in is consistency and confidence. We are not playing as a team.
  21. Would it be helpful to have a list of words/phrases that are likely to be edited ?
  22. Question to Mods - A few weeks ago I got a polite "warning" about the use of the word muppet - given the current client should I use another collective word - clearly not erseholes though ?
  23. It is not just about yesterday - you have to take the shocking display at Airdrie into consideration as well. Perhaps another question to ponder is - "Are the players taking the p!ss ?"
  24. IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER replied to a post in a topic in Caley Thistle
Feck me there are a rite load of IHE clones on here :( Who appointed Butcher ? Why did they appoint him ? What did Butcher inherit ? How much funding has Butcher been given to strengthen the team ? Who agreed to allow Butcher to continue to do other things ? BUT the settling in period is over - one last question : Do we now have a settled system and a clear first team selection ? You have to admire them cos they are diverting all the flak and blame once again.
