I will give the gaffer 8.5 out of 10 yesterday versus Falkirk. As I alluded to pre-match the Bairns adopt a system of a tight defence and midfield and play it from the back - That required us to press and harry from the start - it also meant that we had to hold a high defensive line - it also meant that we had to use width when we got possession - and we had to play the ball into the feet of the forwards. Well Mr Brewster - ya played that to the feckin tee - it was great to see us playing football again - playing the easy ball and quite a few 1-2's to boot. At times we looked like Falkirk in their own back yard. We may have fecked a few up but we kept trying to play it simple. The substitutions won the match - although having Barrowman, Bazza and Imrie on the bench was a "luxury" choice. I have never seen the defence keep such a consistently high line and Maguire marshalled them excellently. I have never seen the role given to Royster before and I suspect it was a one-off but again it worked. Benching Barrowman I suspect was a "disciplinary" decision and that appeared to work. Benching Imrie was a kick up the pants and that appeared to work. The only negative really pissed me off - Does Brew plan his width in a fecking mirror - I know that a lot of managers play their players on the wing of their less favoured foot - but thay also swop them too. I could not believe that Brew kept Vigurs on the right and Cowpe on the left throughout - both weer given acres of space - both were only too willing to steam down the wings - but how many times did they stop to cut back on to their favoured foot - and how many times, especially Vigurs, did they get in a deep position to cross but the delivery was poor as it was on their less favoured foot. And then he took on Imrie on the right and Wilson on the left. GET A FECKIN GRIP MAN - YA SWOP THEM THROUGHOUT THE GAME !!!!

Have read all the posts on the Match thread and I can see that all lot of peeple may have been carried away wiv the elated aftermath of the game but - as per usual - I will provide a post alcohol haze summary: FRASER :D :D Hardly had a thing to do becos of a solid defence but his distribution was draedful at times. He has to do a bit of Target golf like practising with his kick outs. ROSSCOE :thumb04: :018: ;) Sooperb - hopefully he realises that he has to maintain that level of performance with peeple breathing down his neck. But he was a "tower" today and won every 50/50 ball tha was going and played some great through balls as well - wish somebody could grab a clip of the brilliant individual foray in the first half - if he had scored it would have been the best feckin goal ever. MAGUIRE :015: :D :P Not one of my favourites but he was the mainstay of the defence yesterday. He led the line brilliantly and Rosscoe and Dicky were with him all the way. Ya could also see that he was marshalling young Duff throughout as well. The defence held its highest line it has done in years. Plus Maguire was a constant offensive thereat in the air from dead ball situations. DUFF :021: :D :D Potential yes - endeavour yes - aerial prowess yes - positional sense will learn. The lad looked the business yesterday and won nearly evry aerial challenge and put himself about. However he almost got caught three times in the first half when the forward got goal side of him and fortunately the through ball was poor and he got to all of them. Still he is only young and will learn and wont let us down if called upon. HASTINGS :D :D :D Solid enuff defensively but he still gives me the jitters and his distribution remains hoofish. All the Falkirk threat came from their right and Dicky. VIGURS :D :D :D I really like the look of this lad. Would be great to see what he could do on the left !! (see ma tic tacs post). Full of running and skill to boot. BLACK :D :D :D :D Commanding, always looking for the ball, defended and tackled well, distribution was excellent - played the "playmaker" role to the tee. ROYSTER :D :D :D :D A one man feckin midfield yesterday - Bet he couldnt maintain that feckin role fer too long - How many feckin yards did he cover yesterday - he was popping up all over the place yet still appeared to maintain his position !! COWIE - Would be gerat to see what he could do on the right. Quietish first 20 but came to life thereafter. His pace always threatened. Scored a goal when ya thought we would struggle to find the net. WOOD :D :D Sorry but he is NOT SPL yet - has to work on his pace and movement. He is a big lad who can certainly hold up the ball well but needs more time - good squad player. ROONEY :D :D :D I suspect and/or I feckin hope that he is not yet match fit. He was off the pace yeterday but showed enuff to say that if he hits fitness he will be an asset - appeared to know what position to move into but slow getting there. BARROWMAN :D :D :D :D His introduction won us the game eventually. He had more moveement in his short time than Wood and Rooney combined - He could certainly play the lone striker role away from home. BAZZA / IMRIE :D :D :D Their arrival simply brought that extra bit of edge and determination. Feckin cracking finish from Imrie.

I miss Ian as he was a bigger feckin idjiot than I was but he was pure class at leading the away band off - even tho he was a dirty feckin weegie. But I was an innocent professional till the **** led me astray. BRING BACK THE COIA BUS.

Falkirk tend to play it on the deck from the back - and in the last few games I have been at - we have allowed them to do that - we have also sat far too deep and also allowed them to pay pretty patterns in the midfield - we cant allow them to do that. Brew has a lot to make up fer his tactics at the last Falkirk away match - so his selection will also be interesting - will he stick with his "faves" or will he rightly rock the boat. I would also like to see Bazza playing as Westfields appears to suit him and has alwasy been a happy hunting ground for him - especially as Falkirk appear to have a tight back four, one central holder and midfielders who sumtimes go forward too much - in the past Bazza has been the perfect foil. We have also failed miserably in the past when we have tried to play a target man up front - especially when we launched the hoofs - Rooney has the pace to unsettle a towering Bairns central defence - as long as the supply hits him and not in the sky. I fear that Barrowman would be in their pockets. Falkirk have also clearly targetted Rosscoe and Hastings in the past. This will undoubtedly not be Brews choice and I am only going on hearsay this season but I would go tactically with: Fraser Proctor Duff Munro Royster Wilson Cowie Duncan Black Vigurs Rooney

Bring Back the Budvar Tent and the Away supporters "cage" at Brockville.

One of my fave players - probably cos I mainly watch away games. Away from home he can usually sit in his little hole in front of the defence and he can be quietly effective - if you get a chance just watch the ammount of covering that he actually does - when he has a ball player with him he usually resorts to the short pass to that player - when he has wide players he usually resorts to spreading it wide, again all quietly effective. Unfortunately his inconsistency shows when he has to be more of a playmaker and the majority of the time he pings balls to the opposition. At home he is sumwhat negated and has to take on a more forward driving role which he isnt that good at. But another "skill" is that he can fire a good screamer from 25-30 yards and he does Have "leadership" in the sense that you can often see him slowing things done or getting fired up if he thought peeple were not putting in the effort. Hope he is back tomorrow - with Black and Cowie and Wilson (wide)

Aye the drumers and the BENI were always "leaders" - minded by "The Mob" of course.

Where exactly is this Cadgers Brae ??
-
Dods not coming - Dan the Man off to the Magpies - this has to be down to spondoolachs.
-
Plus it is more of the "singers", the "hard core" at away games - and we are usually all stuck in together in a constricted space. Alcohol does not have to be imbibed to lessen your inhibitions.
-
**** me - peeple are agreeing with me - can soon change that !! Anyway I totally stick by original post and that is not becos I am anti-Brew - I think he made a BIG mistake but he/we got off with it. I also agree that we have no divine right to beat teams like Arbroath especially in the cup AND M4TJ is rite - there were bigger "fallers" than us. According to reports Wood and McCallister "failed" as did Barrowman and Rooney - I would suggest that it may not have been the case if it was played the other way around. The two main starters are told they have an hour and they go to try and finish off the game - allowing the two yoofs to come on against a demoralised outfit - theory I know but better than Brews. Plus our squad will never be of an "equal" standard - we will always have the few stand outs, the few reliables, the few inconsistents, the few who can play if they have to. Last nite was NOT the time to experiment. Falkirk may tell us a lot about the season ahead - I think that we may well pinch it as I feel that we will be the Arbroath on Saturday but we do have the "talent" to soak it up and hit on the break.
-
We have just had a big debate about how important cup runs are to our finances and to attract the support and then some of you support Brewster. What would have been the outcry if we had gone out ?? We should have started with the strongest X1 and took on the yoof once the job was done - the outcome is a spate of needless cards as I suspect we began to panic and that may also cost us in the future. And would this game have been the opportunity to play Barrowman and Rooney as a airing and probably enhance their understanding of each other and potentially their confidence. It has to be a matter of underestimating them as any small team (used to be us!) would give their all to have a SPL scalp - it was their cup final fer fecks sake. We survived and I bet it will be the strongest team next time -Brew is a very, very lucky boy- has he feckin learned anything ?

Whoa - this can be more simple !! Get a Monthly forum / meeting - limit the numbers - it could be three/four representatives of the club and three/four representatives of the supporters - one/two from the Trust and one/two from the Forum - the fans reps are not there to promote their own thoughts - they are there to represent the forum. Then you have a Standing Agenda - made up of the list of usual issues - from the fans and the club - then you discuss each item to look at what has been done, what the fan/club reaction is, what actions could be taken further and who is responsible. Then you can have the Matters Arising at the end and put them all into minutes. Then you post them on here - hopefully the feedback may be that things have improved -if it is no change then you raise it at the next meeting. At least that way peeple can have their say and it would be up to the reps as to which posts / comments to take to the next meeting. And lets just concentrate on the non playing side at the meeting.
-
And the thread goes on and on - loads of concrete criticism but loads of constructive suggestions. So what do the members of the Supporters Trust say ? This is going nowhere if we dont push it - Should the Supporters Trust not suggest / "demand" a monthly forum and put 2-3 reps from this forum on it. Lets get together a Standing Agenda - lets put forward the sensible proposals and lets put a thread on here every month with the minutes. Lets feckin act not whinge.
-
Scotty - Remember the days when you could get well oiled before the game - stand and sing freely on the terraces - engage in "harmless" banter with peers and away fans - enjoy the craic and go back happily to the pub ? Well nowadays ya are apprehensive about what is classed as intoxicated at a football ground - you are apprehensive about standing up and singing - you are apprehensive about being lifted for pettiness - and possibly spite. Jobs, careers, aspirations and livelihoods can be at stake - that is feckin frightening !! There is only one thing fer it as far as I am concerned - I am feckin emigrating to Toronto.
-
Yip - I agree with a lot of that AF - but more open communication is required - full stop. Rumours escalate, doubts persist and grow when clear statements are not forthcoming and secrecy prevails. Why dont you feel negativity on other sites ? Could it be that there is an atmosphere of openess. The club appear to be widening the gap between themselves and the support - that should never be the case. We should be in this together - working together - it feels like a battle to get any clear information to be passed down - And who's fault is that ? Shurely some of the suggestions being made and the constant negative comments - car parking; stewarding; the advertising boards; disabled facilities; food; free tickets fer kids; fans forums etc. - not to do with the feckin playing side - must be ringing in the ears of the management - and what do they appear to do ?
-
Scotty - been there and got the T-shirt - Rules, regulations and over zealous stewarding is killing the game - it aint an enjoyment anymore - it is trial and tribulation.
