  1. Alex - as far as I am concerned the Party starts at 17.00 on Friday and ends at 09.30 on Sunday. :001:
  2. My immediate post match thoughts were where can I get out of the feckin rain and guzzle a double voddie and coke. :004: However I thought that we played really well yesterday and 3-0 was not a true reflection of the game. McBain should have scored in the second minute and I cannot understand how Bayne did not get his head to the ball later on. I remarked to the PB's at how high a line our defence were keeping in the first half. They were practically 5-10 yards inside their own half and that gave the midfield more opportunities. It was the worst time possible to lose a goal and the heads did go down a bit after the second. Fraser was a stand out and I am no longer fretting if Brown misses out. Tokely and Hastings stood firm. Dods had a real handful in Van Hesselink of Castlemilk whilst Munro showed that he does not have the play the ball skill factor as he regulary had time at the back and wasted it. Bazza was strangely subdued, Duncan was solid, Rankin is not an SPL matchmaker and McBain was ineffective. Once again Bayne worked like a Trojan and yet again frustrated Dargo with his lack of awareness. At the moment we simply are not taking our chances. We had far more of the game, and chances, yesterday than we had at Castle Greyskull.
  3. From what I understand the divide has got even wider. Romanov cannot be seen to back down. Hartley and Gordon and possibly Neilson will all be offski in the next window - to be replaced by feckin Lithuanians. And have you not noticed that the large majority of my rumours this year have come true OR have been very close to becoming true. :016:
  4. I am reliably informed thet the shennanigans at Hearts have completely disillusioned Stephen Pressley and he was seriously considering retirement as he did not feel that he could ever play fer anyone except his beloved Jam Tarts. However I understand that he is seriously considering an approach from ICT to come on loan for the rest of the season - with the Jam Tarts footing some of the wage bill.
  5. I wonder if Mr Romanov would join me in a vodka tasting session. As fer Elvis have a feckin gander at the Rumour Mill. :010: :010:
  6. The bottom line, which I suspect Sandy was alluding to, is that we have unearthed and developed a young back up goalkeeper who proved yesterday the he is assured and confident enough to fill in for Mark Brown if called on. Shure he made a couple of mistakes but he probably did enough to just about earn the MOM fer us. You simply cant drop/rest Brown next week as he is the man clearly in possession - but well done Michael Fraser. :021: :021:
  7. That has simply got to be the worst SPL atmosphere that I have EVER witnessed. Where were all the mainstays? I even got told to sit down when I tried to encourage a bit of singing. WORST Away support EVER. :020:
  8. Having been saying it fer weeks. Need to rest the Bayne and McBain connection. Black has just got to be brought back but I would like to have a look at McSwegan in combination with Dargo.
  9. I'll be there. Two sober outings to be followed up by two pished ones.
  10. I thought Duncan was simply DREADFUL against Midden but I would play him in the middle with Black and put Rankin on the left. Black played better when Duncan was partnering him last year. Black is the only real creative player that we have.
  11. OK - Here is how I responded to my mate's learned coach friend: I feel that we were brought up on the attacking principles of Pele when we went to win games first and foremost. Those were the most entertaining days but we would probably be a forever mid table Division 1 club for the rest of our history if we stuck to those tactics. Then along came Robbo and built in a more defence minded concept and we became harder to beat and score against but retained an attackin aura. And it paid dividends. The fact that we could not survive in the SPL using such a response began to seep in very quickly and we developed the hit on the break philosophy. Along came Brew and added the fitness element which made us harder to beat. I feel that we are now stuck in that mould and crave for players like Blobby Mann, Bingo, Juanjo, a younger Bazza, Robson - who could excite and turn a game with a single pass or a piece of skill. SURVIVAL is and always will be our first and foremost target - only when we hit safety can we relax - and that is usually close to the end of the season. When this season have you seen a "magic" moment or a touch of class that took yer breath away? The second half at Killie had some good football without that killer touch and the last 20 minutes against Falkirk is the most stirring I have seen for almost a year. And that was a lot to do with Rankin, Sutherland and Rory. Our "ball" players or skill "men" are all learning their trade. Rankin, Zander, Rory, Munro and Ian Black can only improve - so we survive until they blossom. If only we had a fit 30 year old Bingham or Robson or Juanjo or even Blobby mixed in there we would be a team to scare the pants off the present SPL crew. I just hope that when safety is looming this season that we go to a more attacking formation and go for the team for the future. What we need in the "window" is a cultured defender to replace Dods.
  12. Is she related to Linda Lovelace? Well I am on the loose that weekend - so who all is going?
  13. I was slightly surprised to see Brew sitting in the Main Stand tonite but I am reliably informed that he has been given permission to train with ICT. :010: :010: :010:
  14. Why dont ya crawl inside one and get yerself recycled ya sad old git. :016:
  15. Well here are Denny's comments: He felt that both teams had set up shop NOT to concede and pinch a goal on the break. He felt that "tactically" we had sussed each other out and that ICT had NOT produced a surprise tactic. He noted the fact that Smith was played on the left against Rosscoe and that this was clearly a "surprise" tactic by the Dons which could have brought dividends in the first half. He did not see enuff of Brown to comment but could not believe that our defence were lying so deep - "unless they are lacking in pace". He described our defence as being very organised and evidently know each other well. He described the defence as "one that will not let in many goals". He also remarked about the continual "hoofs" and particulary zoned in on Dods and Hastings. He also wondered whether taht had something to do with a lack of confidence in our midfield payers although he noted that Rankin, in particular, made himself available alot but was bypassed.lHe felt that Rosscoe and Grant were more apt to lift their heads up to look for a pass but had a "tendency to panic" and hoof if in doubt. He looked at Wilson as being the most natural "playmaker" but commented that he cannot take on that role when he is played so wide. He was actually impressed by Duncan who he felt did a lot of unnoticed covering. He was impressed by Rankin but stated that he looked more of a left footed wide player. In respect of McBain he did not understand where he was playing and what his role was. He was impressed by Bayne and described him as the "120% battler" but felt that he was like a "headless chicken" at times. He was most impressed with Dargo who he thought made tremendous movement of the ball but was frustrated that he dropped deep at times and did not "prey" on the last defender. In essence - his summing up is that we looked like a very fit, determined and difficult to beat side. He did comment that he can now understand why we win as much away as at home and commented that it would be difficult to change the system to "attack" at home. He felt that we were missing a defender who could put his foot on the ball and play out of defence under pressure. He also felt that we lacked width and pace, were too reliant on long balls and our midfield were too slow in getting forward to support our forwards, mainly because the back 4 and midfield 4 played too deep. He siad that we were going to score and suggested that if we had shored up the defence but "gone for it" that we aould have scored again. he said that he could see the Dons equaliser coming and again said that if we had held a higher line that the goal could have been avoided. Coming from someone who evidently knows the game I found his comments very thought provoking. He did have his 40th voddie and emphasised that he would have to watch ICT a lot more for his comments to be conclusive. What do yas think??
  16. My learned friend, on his first ICT viewing, could not believe that Dargo got hooked and when I explained about Wyness he suggested that we should have hooked McBain, gone a tight 4-3-3 and gone to seal the game. He was also IMPRESSED with Russell Duncan!!!
  17. I have received a phone call from Jeff's PA - a bloke :006: - after leaving a message on a number Worm gave me. As far as it goes Jeff is subsidising the trip to Texas only at the present time - he has intimated that he may be willing to put more money in on the "infrastructure" of the club. I suggested that if he was going to splash some of his dollars that he should look at subsided attendance prices. The response I got was. - "Fair point - how did you avoid jail?" - Well feck Jeff feckin MacDonald.
  18. Where? in the middle of sad anker? :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: Look forward to a wee dram ya feckin prop.
