  1. I was a Caley fan pre-merger but these new strips have far too much blue and definitely not enough red. Also, there should be black somewhere in it. Not very good ICT. :018:
  2. Don Cowie - definitely our best player this season and thoroughly deserves his award. Let's hope we keep him long-term and he doesn't go down the road like John Rankin. :018:
  3. BBC Radio Scotland are reporting that Mark McGhee is staying on as Motherwell manager and is not going to the Jambos. A very sensible decision. :clapping03: :022:
  4. Another old Sneck newspaper was the Highland Herald. It used to be printed in a printing works on the corner of Friars Street but it ceased publiation some tme in the late 1960s / early 1970s. In those days there was quite a choice of papers before TV and MFR made an impact.
  5. Good luck to the Doon Hamers ! :021: :021: :021: :021: :021: :021: :021:
  6. Aye, well done Celtic, Gordon Strachan and not forgetting Barry Robson. :025:
  7. Aye, the Football Times on a Saturday afternoon. I remember picking them up at Diriebught Road after they were printed. Didn't Ian Macdonald now of the Beeb in Sneck work there in the mid-70s ? Also, remember going to the P&J office in Montague Row where the Evening Express had the football results printed off in the stop press part on the front page under the always watchful eye of **** Munro. His son Neil worked there too. Ah, memories, memories. :003:
  8. Doesn't look too hopeful on the Barrowman front. We've got such a poor image with the way we treat players (Rankin, Black, Wyness et al) that any possible signings steer well clear. I hope I'm wrong as Barrowman would be an excellent signing.
  9. Newspapers and in particular the sport sections of them are the staple diet of football fans but how many of the now long gone newsagents shops of Sneck spring to mind ? Bowes in Young Street, Wards and Henry Pierricini in Eastgate, Melven's when it sold papers. All sadly now gone. Any more :symbol_question: :024:
  10. I don't think Marius will be staying with ICT. If he does leave perhaps the dressing room pay balance will be restored and that mightn't be a bad thing either.
  11. Aye, here, here to that. Good luck Denzil. :004:
  12. Weren't there rumours that Barrowman had been closely looked at by the Hibees ? Barrowman and Marius (if he stays) up front could be a useful pairing. :024:
  13. It would be an understatement to say this hasn't been one of our best seasons, but at least we're still in the SPL and I hope things are going to be very much better for us in season 2008/2009. :022: :022: :022:
  14. Aye, John Rankin joining Hibs and we're still missing him. :009:
  15. I was at that match. Leicester were obviously a very classy side compared to the Caley of those days.
  16. Charles - Yes the British Linen was taken over by the BofS and the National Commerical Bank became part of the RBS. I opened my very first deposit account with the National Commercial Bank (where Quality Seconds is/was) with ?1 and on a Saturday morning too. Aye, the Wednesday half day and Tuesday market day at Hamilton's Auction Mart on Millburn Road.
  17. Incidentally, Ross Tokley was the BBC Radio Scotland MoM. :024:
  18. Good for Bristol City - through to the play-offs after a 4-2 aggregate victory over Crystal Palace after extra time. Hope they make the Premiership. Good for Gretna too - if it is their last match they can go out with their heads held high after beating the Jambos.
  19. Can't back any team managed by Neil Warnock !
  20. Or perhaps sitting on their behinds at computers posting on fans' forums ? :symbol_question:
  21. Aye, must agree about Brew's tactics - his managerial ability in this area is poor. Is this perhaps because he was a player and had a manager to work the tactics out for him ? Now that he has to it for himself he's a bit at sea. :024:
  22. Whoever gets the Wee Rangers job has a job on his hands. I've seen them a couple of times and they're not very good at all. Their players try hard and work hard but are let down by poor tactics and poor technique.
