  1. Harsh, unnecessary and somewhat inaccurate representation of 10CC in my opinion. One of ICT's greatest ever players and you portray him as a bottler - substantiated explanation required please.
  2. Here's hoping you've got plenty to cheer today Scotty! ️
  3. A reasonable result, especially given some of the other scores. It does seem as if we may have come off the boil a bit recently, but should possibly be expected. I had hoped that the fight & battling qualities from the 2nd half vs Aberdeen may have inspired the players for today's game, but perhaps it didn't quite happen for us. A difficult game coming up on Sunday, with another tasty game a few days later! C'mon the Caley Jags!!
  4. Was Terry Butcher's managerial record prior to coming here not mediocre? Were the thoughts of Terry Butchers previous club's fans not somewhat negative? Did Terry Butcher not then go on to confound those same records and thoughts? John Hughes may not be what you had hoped for, but can you not give the man a slim chance before calling for the board to be sacked and describing the situation as a shambles? I personally think that to decry the new manager and the board before he's even got his feet under the desk is rash, premature and somewhat irrational. John Hughes will have my full support and trust, up until the point that he proves unworthy of that support and trust.
  5. Draw was done before the lights went out and from memory, they were 12999 and 12899.
  6. Apparently the BBC's Jim Spence has reported that Craig Levein is on the short list, but Kenny Sheils has dropped out.
  7. Has there been no word about Steve Marsella staying or going? Would be good if the club could clear this up.
  8. Thanks to Terry and Maurice for their contribution to our history, and for the legacy they presently leave in terms of our squad. Kenny Cameron's statement is articulate and eloquent, and I look forward to progress with the appointment of a new management team over the coming days/weeks. It would be nice to get some clarity on the situation with Steve Marsella though. One chapter of ICT's history is finished and I look forward to the writing of the next.
  9. Totally agree with what you've said Scotty. Also, unless my recollections are wrong, I had a feeling that there were more bookings than you've noted - perhaps Shinnie &/or Foran? Maybe others can correct me on this?
  10. I understand that floodlights have failed several times before and, contrary to Mr MacGregor's assertion, they were already away of this particular electricity capacity / overload issue and had planned to fix it next close season (might need to bring that forward now!!). Also, tonight's failure will surely prove pretty expensive - possible fine, staff costs, repeat corporate hospitality, etc.
  11. We've got to be happy with that especially with our nearest rivals in the table all dropping points too. Really shows how far the club have come tho', when you feel mild disappointment that we couldn't just hold on for all 3 points.
  12. Not sure you're being fair there Alex. I agree with your points regarding SPL football at large not being generally a viable business venture but - within the context of those businesses within the SPL - we are performing well (or at least were in the 11/12 season referred to in the article). Most, if not all clubs, rely on or benefit from player sponsorship and generous benefactors. Against that comparative backdrop we are doing pretty well.
  13. Don't think anyone else has mentioned this, but there is an interesting and informative article in today's P&J including commentary from PwC Accountants who've just undertaken a review of SPL club finances for the 2011/12 season. This review established that ICT are the only club in the SPL whose wages to turnover ratio was below 50% (at 43%). Other mentioned clubs were Aberdeen and Hearts whose figures were 60% and 95% respectively (Hearts were at an incredible 116% the previous season!!). It also noted that ICT's £'s spent per point gained was £38,000 (lowest in the league), whilst Celtic was up at £364,000!!! Really puts into context the prudence that the club seem to take in running the finances and their comparable petformance on the field - something they should be congratulated for it. It'll be interesting to read the same statistics for the season just ended once available (especially with RCFC in the league). Sorry, can't do the linky thingy to the article.
  14. The Wendy house isn't being taken down until after the game (needed to meet spl seating requirements), and will then be replaced by an extension to the east stand during the close season.
  15. Sounds quite serious, as he's left the stadium on a stretcher taking oxygen. Not a good sign for him or County. I wish him well (but not before next week's game!!).
  16. I'm not sure how you can say that Kingsmills. He didn't have control of the ball, it was drifting wide, Meekings was well up with play and could have closed him down. Now he MAY have taken the ball under control, he MAY have had enough pace and skill for Meekings to have not reached him, and he MAY have got a shot away - but that certainly doesn't make it a CLEAR goal scoring opportunity in my view. It was an extremely important decision in a crucial game, but I think I would feel just as disgruntled had this been our first game of the season.
  17. Didn't quite go to plan. Adds a little extra incentive for tomorrow.
  18. Surely who we need depends on whether those yet to sign actually do? We could yet lose Doran and Jones, both who we'd need to replace.
  19. Thanks for explaining that CD. Only caught last 15 minutes of programme and they didn't portray matters as you just have. Can you clarify one more thing? If there was a desire to change a protected matter after the fixed period, what percentage would need to vote for it?
  20. What's even more ironic is that two of the clubs who have been most vocal against the 11-1 are going to use it to their (perceived) advantage to prevent change!!! Or are using it to prevent what they perceive to be the wrong change! Seems to me from listening to Stewart Gilmour on the radio tonight that the biggest issue St Mirren has is the 11-1 voting structure remaining in place. Change is needed, but surely having a more balanced voting structure needs to be pushed through as a priority - before the old firm gang up together in a couple of seasons time?
  21. Don't think there's any way we'll be at home to County for a third time - although Mr Adams would certainly seethe if it was to happen!!!
  22. Brilliant vocals from the North Stand. A sustained, melodic, choral symphony!! Probably the best we've ever had at Caley Stadium. Well done to all involved - please keep it up!!
  23. And although he's been sacked, he'll make a single match return to lead them out in the final!! Absolute madness!
  24. I've been unemployed...and I'd not have had a problem working for my benefits....but I would have had a problem working for big businesses like Tesco, Poundland etc. It's not a lot different, imo, to the working tax credit set up.....both are predicated on adding to the profits of big business at taxpayers expense.....both for the big business doing the employing....and the big business doing the placements. I'd have been happy to do voluntary work for charities/local councils on the lines of Community Service etc though....much more useful doing stuff that charities/councils can't afford to do anymore as the government cuts back on funding everything which isn't pensions, wars and military equipment than do what firms who make millions in profit could easily pay someone to do. . Absolutely agree with this but why make it compulsory. A willing volunteer is better than two or more conscripts. It is the "conscripts" who are the very ones that you want to be doing this! The willing volunteers are, by definition, trying to get themselves back into the workplace. The real issue are those that are quite happy - or "better off" - being supported by the state. If someone is actively avoiding work because they don't fancy the job or can earn more being on the dole, then make them work for it - whether in public sector, private sector or charitable work.
  25. PMF it's hardly a scandal that the government is forcing unemployed people to actually do something for their unemployment benefit!! I'm fortunate to have never been unemployed and people who are in this situation that desperately want to work do have my sincere sympathy. However, I don't see that this is such a big deal. After all, there is a proportion of unemployed people (however small) that are quite happy to be supported by the state and my hard earned and worked for tax pounds! I have to work for my money, so why shouldn't the unemployed?
