Two Leagues of 12 it is then......
Purely opinion, but I get the feeling that the SPL is coming around in terms of the ridiculousness of the current criteria. We're seeing a lot of talk, and pilots, for standing and it's been a while since I've seen or heard of any communication from the SPL about cracking down on standing. Once they get over that issue, then the argument for high numbers of seats in all-seater stadiums has to go with it....and whilst I think it'll be a long time before they allow a return of terracing, I do think we'll see a move towards "you need all seater, but it's up to you to decide how many seats you want/need". There's already been some talk of doing away with the need for special safe standing seats and trials of designated standing areas being allowed (subject to local authority and police agreement) within current structures/setups.....although I would qualify that by saying that I await written confirmation on this point from the person (Paul Godwin, head of Supporters Direct) who talked about it at the recent Fans Parliament night at TCS.

Two Leagues of 12 it is then......
Bit reluctant to try and second guess and go on press peculation/rumour....but from the (little) info out there..... At start of season you have two leagues of 12 After 2 rounds of games (playing each other once home and away) league splits into 3 leagues of 8 Top 8 from SPL 1 make up top league Bottom 4 from SPL1 + Top 4 from SPL2 make up middle league Bottom 8 from SPL2 make up lower league At end of season Top 4 from middle league join top 8 to make SPL1 for next season Bottom 4 from middle League and Top 4 from lower league make up first 8 in SPL2 Bottom 2 from lower league are relegated Places 5 & 6 go in to a play off situation 2 Promoted teams + 2 from Play Offs join SPL2 for next season. After "split" the top league keep all points earned to that point After "split" the lower league keep all points earned to that point Unsure how points situation will work for the middle league There would be 3 titles awarded, one for winner of each of the post split leagues This would leave the SFL to do pretty much as they wished with the 18 teams left from the existing 42...my guess is that they would have little option other than to go down the route of a league of 10 and regional/pyramid below that. It's not for the SPL to dictate and given how difficult it seems to be to come to a consensus, then I don't think the SPL should even make any suggestions. It's the money distribution model that will make for the most interesting reading, IMO, and it would have to be evened out a fair bit to keep the SPL competitive across both leagues. Sponsorship of leagues raises another question and it could only work with a single company sponsoring everything due to the move from 2 leagues to 3 leagues mid-season. Repetition of fixtures would remain in top and lower leagues after the split....but interest should be maintained by the chase for Europe (in top league) and fighting away from relegation/playoff (in lower league).

Two Leagues of 12 it is then......
....not what I personally wanted to see, but think it's better than doing nothing. Only way to do anything different would be to get SPL and SFL around the same table....and self interest isn't going to permit that any time soon. Status quo isn't an option for me as we need a model that distributes cash further down the line. I'm guessing some concession had to be made to allow Celtic (and others who can't see beyond it) the four OF games when The Rangers return to top flight, so 16 or 18 team league would have been off the table in order to get a unanimous decision. Be interesting to see the finer detail in due course, but expect we'll have to go through all the BS that press and others will dig up while we wait for that. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20581620?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Tokely brands booing a disgrace
^^^^^^ would be better off at Eden Court seeing Mother Goose than attending the footie I agree with Tokely the booing was a disgrace to be honest it was done by the minority but it was still hugely embarrassing, a guy that sweated blood over the years for this club should never have been disrespected in such a way and I would like to take this opportunity to appologise to him knowing that he will read this thread Dougal You'll be glad to hear....he wasn't boo'd by a minority today.

Tokely brands booing a disgrace
What's with all the PC "thou shall not boo an ex player" BS??? I really do worry about some of our fans....defending their right to boo own team one minute, then chastising fellow fans for booing an opponent the next!!! It's football, it's a bit of banter and no lines were crossed (as far as I heard and am concerned). Build a bridge and get over it.....just as Tokely did when he accepted our rivals money to turn out for them instead of us.

Tokely brands booing a disgrace
Rather amusing given his comments in The Sun about not getting caught up in the hype and concentrating on the game. Mind you, he'll probably be hoping the injuries situation doesn't improve and he actually gets a game!!!

Top of Div 3 clash postponed
Whether you agree with the whole Health and Safety thing or not....the fact is the ground has a safety certificate for a certain capacity and Elgin were seeking to exceed that without having it properly checked out or signed off as being fit to hold the additional capacity. The consequences of that, as has been seen all around the world over the years, could have been devastating. How did they plan to ensure that there was sufficient policing/stewarding etc if it was being surreptitiously? In saying that, I do think £25,000 for a club the size of Elgin is a bit steep....especially when faced with meeting the costs to Rangers (and I believe ESPN could still asks for costs also). The repercussions could effectively send a club like that to the wall. Far bigger clubs who've committed offences on a far bigger scale (fans causing riots at games etc) have received smaller fines....so there does seem to be a lack of parity in the level of the punishment. I just hope that whoever signed off on this has the decency to cover the cost and ensure the club don't lose out as a result of their stupidity.

Celtic -V- ICT
Think we need to add a "Where we work" section to profiles so we can all go round each others work and boo the feck out of people when they have a one off bad day.

If you want to listen to a decent commentary, then choose MFR....none of the snotty central belt bias you get from other commentators.

ICT Legends
You missed the "and Friends"....we have it covered

ICT Legends
Don't think you can put any definition on who is or is not a Legend. There will be a group of ex-players who everyone would happily attach the tag too, but probably just as many which some would think so and others not for a whole variety of reasons.

Rangers go into administration
This is far from over....my thoughts on what may happen from here..... 1. HMRC will appeal. 2. Liquidators announce that if decision is upheld they will pursue those in receipt of "loans". 3. Those in receipt of "loans" think ...."sod this, I'm not coughing up"....and start to spill on the real nature of the payments. 4. FTT decision is overturned and HMRC get the outcome they want/need to now pursue others who've done the same. Make no mistake...this case was never about the HMRC getting any money from Rangers. There's far bigger fish they want to fry over the use of EBT's and Rangers is just the test case and will set the precedent.

League Reconstruction
All we have at the moment is speculation that two leagues of 12, then splitting into 3 of 8 is the plan being proposed/taken forward. The article clearly says that nobody at the meeting was willing to divulge any details. With that in mind, I'll not get too hot and bothered about it yet. All I will say is that if the SPL are not looking at a restructuring proposal that gets us away from this whole playing each other (up to) 4 times a season scenario, then they are about to get it horribly wrong.

ross county away - singing section
Caley Jags Together are not "self acclaimed" in any way, shape or form. They are a group of fans...now numbering in excess of 300...with a democratically elected board. If you, or anyone else, is not satisfied with the work being done by those board members, then there's nothing whatsoever standing in the way of you coming forward and putting yourself up for election or volunteering your time to help. We haven't always got it right and we haven't always been able to achieve the things we would like...but we are at least trying. If some people put as much time and effort into helping as they put into coming on here criticising the efforts of others and making demands of them....then ICT would easily be able to achieve everything we want, and more. After all....it's not Rocket Science!!!!

Yesterdays attendance disappointed me just about as much as the result did.
