Don't forget Daisy!!!! Munro, Tokely, Golly, Duncan and McBain would all qualify for the Legends from the current squad. Would be a real test for our current forwards if they were to come up against a back line of Dods, Mann, Munro & Tokely.....a back row that wouldn't look out of place in a Rugby Match
  2. There's contact details at the bottom of the poster for where you need to contact for more information.
  3. Looks like the hosting company has gone south as their site is down also. If they had the site registered through the same company then they could be having some trouble retrieving it. Domain is registered until 2011

  9. Their square may be valued at more, but the rent for caravans is cheaper so it balances itself out.

  11. Sometimes it's better to just keep quiet and accept your good fortune instead of drawing attention to it.

One of the few things where we share very little difference in opinion, Mr Bannerman.
  13. When a defender passes back it is normally to buy them some time so they can push forward. So you have Rooney chasing back and the opposition defence running in the other direction. They are only going to go so far up the pitch and the first sign of losing possession and they'll be chasing back. Most of the time, no extra effort is required to bring him (Rooney) back into an onside position, and getting caught off side doesn't seem to be that regular an occurrence, IMO. Suggestions that he lacks effort in any aspect of his game are pretty ridiculous. He's one of the hardest working players on the pitch and probably covers more distance/area than any other single player. I'm often surprised he has the energy to see out a game at times, so looking for him to be sprinting back when, in the majority of instances it is not required, would only prove detrimental in the grand scheme of things.

    Good point.

Butcher doesn't strike me as the kind of Manager who would accept a contract with such a clause.

I've not been convinced by Duff. He's not had any exceptionally poor performances, but he's also not performed anywhere near as good as when he was on his loan spell with us. I was a little perplexed by a conversation I had after the game yesterday where Shinnie was getting the blame for the goal, but apparently he was accredited with the error on the radio and not Tokely. 17. Thought we were on for total beasting yesterday, and against better opposition we'd have been out of the game within 30 minutes. Even in the second half it seemed to take us a bit of time to put the breaks on St Johnstone before slowly turning the tide and managing to leverage some pressure in the opposite direction. DoofersDad mentioned "the art of playing poorly and not losing", I'm not so sure as even that requires a semi competent defensive performance. IMO, we didn't turn up for the first hour of the game and when we did we finally show we played a Get Out of Jail Free card. The second half performance was better, but far from acceptable. I can accept playing poor and getting nothing from a game if players are giving their all, but too many of them looked disinterested and just not up for it yesterday. I do think we missed Duncan on there from the start, but that was not the soul cause of our problems. Hopefully just a blip and Butcher manages to weed out the cause to prevent it happening again.

Duncan is a bit like the spread in a sandwich. You never really notice it is there, but leave it out and the sandwich falls apart and doesn't taste right.

I'm with those who say that a change of name would do little, if anything, to improve attendances. We were forced to include "Inverness" in the name not long after the club came into existence and the fans have been polled by the club since then on a further change...which they did not want. The "pre-merger stay aways" argument rears it's head every now and again, and it's always interesting to see what figures people will claim ICT are "missing out on" because of the name, the badge and any other number of reasons. Whatever set of figures you buy in to, the reality is that it is a number which will have been in decline since 1994 and you would be lucky if a change of name would encourage a handful of additional people through the gate on a regular basis and any increase (if their was one) wouldn't even cover the administrative costs of the change....in fact it is more likely to cost us money (even in the long term) than it would be to make us money. Our average gates have, for the most part, shown an increase year on year since the clubs inception and the club seem to be starting to get things right in terms of pricing and incentives to get new young fans through the gates. These are the fans which are the future income generators for the club, the ones where you can justifiably take a hit on costs because you have 50/60/70 (or more) years of potential support to look ahead too. Other than pricing, and the levels are pretty much a necessary evil of the modern game and the way it functions, there's no one thing which is going to magically increase the gates any faster than we are witnessing, IMO. The club just need to keep working on improving the value for money aspect of a visit to the TCS to ensure they keep the adult fans and carry on plugging away at encouraging each new generation to try and stem the flow of those who go off to follow one of the OF or whoever. All in all, when you look at the bigger picture the refusenik stay aways are pretty much an insignificant factor. With regards to dropping the word "Inverness" to attract a wider audience...well, let's just say that I very much doubt one Manchester United's marketing guys would get much mileage from going to the Board and suggesting they drop the Manchester to increase the level of support!!!
  20. The only person chasing any debt was the taxman (?350k) and the ?200k from Melville plus money that had been pledged by local businesses would have more than likely seen them clear. Dundee have gone into voluntary administration, i.e. the decision was their own. This means that instead of having to pay the taxman the full sum, they will will only have to pay him Xp in the pound....all other creditors will be dealt with in the same fashion, from those with "soft" loans outstanding to your small businesses who are more reliant on the income and will be effected most. The took a massive gamble last season and it never paid off, they now need a way to clear the decks, get rid of the debt, get rid of the overpaid players and reduce spending. This move by Dundee is nothing more than them playing the system to their advantage....some may refer to it as cheating. Overpaid players (and other staff) will be forced out the door without any recourse for compensation, creditors will get next to nothing on what they are owed etc. All of this while the club go pleading with fans to "support the club through this terrible time" and have them throwing (more) money into clearing up the mess the Board have created. I know I'm at risk of sounding like a broken record, but unless rules/regulations are brought in to hold the decision makers who create these problems directly responsible then it will continue to happen and the fans will be the ones who continue to pay for it. I have, in the past, stuck my hand in my pocket to put cash into the "Save the *Insert Club Here*" buckets, but not these days. I wouldn't knowingly buy an alcoholic a pint and I have come to realise over the years that throwing good money after bad in football is not the solution. I have no specific dislike for Dundee, probably lean more in the opposite direction, but if it takes a couple of (what should be) decent clubs disappearing into oblivion in order for people to wake up and smell the coffee and do something for the greater good of the game, then so be it. And before someone asks...yes, I would take the same mindset if it were ICT in this position. I would fight tooth and nail to save the club, but not if it meant putting it right back into a position where the same thing could happen again.

  22. Fan representation at Board level counts for very little under a private business setup as they are bound by the same confidentiality problems as any other Board member of any private business and they can't take any conversation/information in to the public domain without the permission of the majority of the rest of the Board. There's also the fact that many of these fans reps on Club Boards are selected by the Boards and not by the fans. Clubs allow it because it gives them a bit of positive PR and because the appointed person can then be used to take the heat of the rest of them by becoming the single point of contact, and because when things go t*ts up the situation can be used to undermine Supporters Trusts by saying "They had someone on the Club Board and it made no difference". It's all just politics.
  23. Who's Richie? I'm sure Dundee will keep the players worth money ie Harkins and Griffiths till january and get some income from transfers for them. Early reports are suggesting that they need to shave around 70% off the wage bill in order to bring the clubs running costs within it's current income levels... not so sure they will have the luxury of trying to hold these players till January in the hope they might be able to sell them. If I was a club with a genuine interest in any of the players then I'd not be quick to throw a fee at Dundee when they are being forced to get them off the books and they could be got for free (or a signing on fee which would be less than any transfer fee)
  24. A gamble which should not have been possible for them to take if the proper controls were in place. In regards to any sympathies...not so sure I have too many. Dundee fans should have learned a lesson last time around, but they didn't and they allowed themselves to be led down the same path again the moment someone came in waving the cheque book. As the saying goes...."Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me"
  25. ?31....the word "mugged" springs to mind.
