Silence is golden??
If someone feels strongly enough about an issue then they will post it regardless of what reaction they feel they will get. In any walk of life if you have a view which goes against the consensus then you are going to come up against resistance in many forms. Some will put a structured argument against your case and some will "slate" you for your opinion - It's your decision who you wish to credit with a response and who you wish to ignore. Clacher could have chosen to ignore Harry's jibe and the thread would have quickly dropped into obscurity, but he chose to respond. Others could have chosen to have left them too it, but wanted to throw in their tuppence worth....it's all about choice and nobody is forcing anyone to read or respond to anyone else's remarks or comments. "You can't please all the people all the time" - And we would be pulling our hair out and causing more problems than we would ever solve by trying. The site has changed since it went unofficial and some may not like it, but the facts show that far more people do as viewing and posting figures have been on an upward trend for the last 10 months - so we must be getting something right!!! As with any comment made about the running of the site it will be discussed, but the users have just as much responsibility and power to make the forum what they want it to be as the Admin.....perhaps the next "jibe" that's made would be best ignored by those it is aimed at.....just a thought.

THE GINGER ONE WILL BE SUSPENDED
Bit like Black with his 3 games. Each suspension gets longer through points accumulation. The straight red will have merited a 1 match ban in it's own right, but another booking will take points to a level to get him 4 matches.

Silence is golden??
You can't win eh? People want freedom to say what they like, but then want threads removed when people do just that!!!

RANGERS V ICT - matchday thread
HC, have you got your Hasting and your Rossco mixed up? Rossco's was solid in his defending and positioning but was lacking in his distribution and gave the ball away far too softly on a few occasions, certainly far more than Hastings did. Other than that I would pretty much agree with the rest of the smileyometer

Dods
I think we could have a strong case for getting the red card overturned. Also, I don't think you serve the suspension immediately so he may well still be available for next week regardless??? By all accounts Caff has been shakey in the last couple of games but he was solid today and showed very little that concerns me about him becoming an immediate replacement for Dods for the rest of the season. There are equally justifiable arguments for and against and I think we'll just have to leave the decision up to CC on this one.

RANGERS V ICT - matchday thread
Just home from the match and what a great day out. Dods Red Card wasn't harsh IMO, it was feckin ludicrous. The ref had made his mind up on what he was going to do before it even happened and had the card out before Boyd even hit the deck. He then allowed the freekick to be taken at least 10 yards closer in than it should have been. That aside, we weren't in the game for the first 15 minutes and even if Dods hadn't been carded it always looked like we were going to be the first to concede a goal. The sending off may have actually done us a favour in some kind of perverse way as it sparked a bit of fight into the remaining players. When it was announced that Markus was coming off to be replaced by Caff my initial reaction was "oh feck, here we go with the defence minded substitutions" and I honestly was of the opinion that we should have played with 3 at the back and just went for it. Thankfully I wasn't making the decisions though and CC's call was spot on - so for that moment of doubt I hold my hands up and apologise. We held on for the remainder of the first 45, but after the break you would never have noticed that ICT were playing with only 10 men. The midfield chased everything and were putting in some crucial crunching tackles. One in particular comes to mind where I'm sure Duncan must have crossed about 75% of the pitch (unnoticed) and ploughed in with an inch perfect tackle on ??? - I forget who. Hart had a stormer of a game today, he ran at the Rangers defence time and again and really was creating problems for them. Very difficult to choose a man of the match when hardly anyone put a foot wrong all day. Duncan a very close second, as already mentioned his tackling was immense and he hit every one inch perfect, which is just as well as he was going in hard most of the time and a slight mis-judgement could have put us down to 9 men. What about young Mikey Fraser......the lad looked like he'd been playing between the posts for ICT for years and this was "just another game". Well composed for the entire duration of the game and had some fantastic saves. Not afraid to come off his line and take the ball from the feet of oncoming strikers or pluck it out of the air either. I had confidence that he was more than capable of filling Browns shoes but he has gone beyond that and I think he is a far more rounded and complete keeper than Brown ever was or ever will be....this lad has a very bright future. It's unfair to single out any player for criticism, but I'm sure others will agree that Rossco wasn't entirely on form today. Although he made some great tackles his distribution was pretty dire and I lost count of the number of times he rescued us at theback only to pass the ball back to Rangers for them to launch another attack. 75 minutes of the game gone and I take a look around Ibrox - I couldn't believe what I was seeing - streams of rangers "fans" are up and leaving!!!! WTF is that all about? The game was far from over and anyone could have scored in the last minutes (and we did). I don't think I would be far wrong if I said that 60% of them had left before the final whistle and many of them were in for a feckin shock when they got back to cars or whatever to find that we had pulled the goal back. Full credit to the fans we did speak to as we left and those we bumped into on our journey home. Every one of them gave credit to ICT for the battling spirit of the team and the "never say die" attitude. Many of them also acknowledged that we should have had a stone wall penalty and that Dods Red Card was harsh in the extreme. When you see performances like today's where just about every player is on form and giving their all it eases the worries for next season. It also sets you to thinking that any problems we may have are/will be with consistency rather than ability.

CaleyThistleOnline actually had a raving (not a typo) reporter on hand at the match. Match Report shall be posted on the Front Page soon (I'm in the process of copying it across now)

A wee story for the exiles
Why does the sign in the pic only say 10,000??? The (half) season we played in Aberdeen accounted for 7779.2 miles 7519.8 - League 232.8 - Scottish Cup 26.6 - CIS Cup The interesting thing is that our "average" yearly travel works out somewhere around 7700 miles (including friendles etc) - in other words, our half season in exile at Aberdeen was no more than an average season travel wise. Even accounting for pre-season friendlies it would appear that it wasn't the huge travel burden (for the team) it was hyped up to be at the time.

CC to go in the summer
I think that P&J article serves to make the reporter look like an utter f@nny to be honest. OK, so things got a bit heated in the dressingroom after the match and things were said which never should have been said. These things have been leaked to the vultures of Scottish Media who automatically assume they've got another "manager Quits" story on their hands and start digging out the template they keep in the top drawer for such occasions. They're out with the tippex replacing the managers name with CC's and are all ready to roll with the story but ICT have the audacity to wait until they are good and ready to talk to the press instead of jumping because the reporters say "now". ICT, yet again, have chosen to do things their way, to take a sensible and rational approach - and because that doesn't meet with the approval of the gutter press they serve up this load of contrived tosh. It is so selective in it's quotes and the way they are delvivered it's no wonder people are reading stuff between the lines which doesn't exists. Ih the journalist had spent more time concentrating on the ACTUAL story instead of trying to invent some conspiracy then we may be better placed to judge for ourselves. Their is so much spin in that article that it will be a week on Friday before Paul Third recovers from the resultant dizzy spell.

Vote of Confidence in Charlie Christie
As I said, just playing Devil's Advocate - A lot is/has been made of the fact that CC doesn't have the "profile" to bring in "big" players/prospects. IMO, we have a Director of Football who's job it is to oversee these things, leaving the manager to concentrate on running the squad we have in place and looking at recommendations for new players which are made to him.

Incentive for the Falkirk Match?
I suspect that many people who complain do so on the basis of persoective and principle, but thats not what it is all about at all. I honestly don't think the majority of those who may complain realise the extent of the savings they are getting with a kids season ticket and how fantastic the deal really is. OK, so the pay at the gate prices are high, but even if they dropped them to £10 for kids in the North Stand I would not expect to see much, if any, reduction on the kids season ticket as a result as it would still represent a 55% saving. A saving I am sure those who have kids season tickets at present would continue to take advantage of, to do anything else is cutting off your nose to spite your face.
-
Incentive for the Falkirk Match?
Most people buy a season ticket for one of two reasons... 1. Less hassle on matchdays and are gauranteed a regular seat. 2. Save themselves some money over a season. #1 is a no brainer and I can't see these people having any issue with a "Free Ticket" incentive till the end of the season. Those who fall into #2 will have no cause to complain unless the deduction of the "free tickets" would make the season ticket a more expensive option. A standard childs season ticket in the North Stand costs £80 representing a saving of around 70% (based on 18 home games at £15). So in order for a kids season ticket in this area to become a more expensive option the club would have to let kids in free for 13 home games. For the Family area it is approx 50% saving which equates to 9 free home games. For the Main Stand it is approx 65% saving which equates to 12 free home games. I really can't see where you would have any reason to complain that your kids season ticket would not still represent good value for money if the club were to offer free entry for kids till the end of the season. OK, so the saving will not be as big as you had expected, but it is a saving all the same which is part of the incentive of a season ticket. For the record I do not have a kids season ticket - I have a sneaky suspicion I would struggle to convince the turnstyle operator that I was under 16 stone, never mind 16 years of age :015:

Vote of Confidence in Charlie Christie
Playing Devil's Advocate here, but if the Club and Fans are generally happy with the job CC is doing as manager, but feel we need changes/improvements in order to bring in and attract a higher caliber of player/prospect then should we be looking to replace Grassa with someone of a "higher profile" in the game who has the contacts to make this happen?
-
Incentive for the Falkirk Match?
Also agree with Suspicous Mind about better Marketing the cheap kids season tickets. The overall strategy/approach needs looking at, not individual points. No idea what your average computer/console game offers these days in terms of "hours of playability" but a season ticket offers 27 hours (based on 18 home games) - so not entirely sure the "better value than a PS game" argument stacks up, but the gist of the point is valid enough.

CC to go in the summer
As much as we all crave "news from the dressing room" and like to get our teeth into a good rumour about the goings on at the club, their are boundaries and whoever leaked this 'story' has crossed the line IMO. I would imagine it was one of the players who was singled out looking for a little payback and since they were unwilling to attach their name to the story or offer up a direct quote then they are nothing but a coward and a Judas in my book. Life has a habit of providing payback of it's own and I hope whoever it was gets their comeuppance.
