2 points for a single goal win after 90 minutes and 3 points for winning by more than a single goal. That will encourage teams to actually go out and attack and make the game entertaining and get rid of this "sit back and defend a 1 goal lead" crap.

I have a phobia for Dell Laptops ever since one caught fire on my desk whilst I was with a client. However, for your average user who gets lost in the minefield of whats available they really aren't going to go too far wrong with a Dell Desktop/Laptop. They'll do pretty much everything they need and they are reasonable value for money. I do agree with the comments about the pre-installed guff and lack of OS disks, but you can create your own restore disks (in fact the setup process encourages you to do so) so it's no huge issue. I've dined for free on many occasions off the back of cleaning out all the useless gumpf from desktops and notebooks bought from the likes of Dell & PC World...so long may they continue to fill the machines as full as my belly ends up :015:

Total Respects to Darren Dods - but Goodbye.
CaleyD replied to IMMORTAL HOWDEN ENDER's topic in Caley Thistle
Think you have misread what I typed earlier...... He was never offered such a contract at the time. What he requested was ONE year longer than the offer on the table. He felt this would have been long enough for him to justify moving up here on a more permanent basis and ICT would have had first dibs on him as a player if he was still playing beyond that. IMO the club were extremely short sighted in not giving him the extra year and by the time it came round to the January Transfer window any offer they were making had lost 6 months of "appeal" to Dods as he'd just spent that time travelling up and down the road. In short it wasn't Dods who was showing a lack of commitment to the club, it was the club showing a lack of commitment to him. Not only do I think he has another good 2 or 3 seasons left as a player but he would have been a valuable addition to our coaching staff as he is held in high regard by the rest of the squad and leads by (good) example both on and off the park. -

:015: Your first comment is not only proposterous it has no basis on fact - i.e. it's BS (just my opinion mind, I'm sure you have no problems dealing with opinions other than your own) And if suggesting Dods is the one to have slapped ICT in the face isn't paramount to saying he is being disloyal, then what exactly is it you are trying to say? Yes, Caff has stuck around whilst not getting a game, but lets face it, other clubs haven't exactly been breaking down the door to sign him from us - and lets not forget he too has been getting paid from the club and has been doing far less than many other players to earn his wage. It really is hard to buy that kind of loyalty!!! -

Dods gave more to this club than he ever promised to do. When he came here the club were aware of his personal circumstances. He then made an offer to the club that he would commit the remainder of his playing career to us and move his family up here if they would offer him one year more than what they had put on the table and the club refused. So please don't give me any BS about Dods having in anyway been disloyal in agreeing the deal he did to move to Dundee United. -
Way!!! I've doctored enough images in my time to get a feeling for these things :004:

Something about that picture screams "Photoshop Job" to me. Not saying it didn't happen or they didn't make the gesture, but I would put money on the photo being altered to.... a) increase the number of offenders...some of them just stand out a bit too much and look a bit crisp around the edges compared to the rest of the pic. b) add Nakamura to the pic - take a look at the linesman who is standing closer to the camera but appears to be about a foot shorter - the proportions just don't look right.

:024: Something dodgy going on as it seems he could get early release as soon as 17th March - Lawyers must have passed the judge a very fat envelope.

Some would argue that when your at a match then you are in "appropriate company". Football grounds used to be one of the few areas people could go on a Saturday to get away from all the overly PC bull they have to put up with for the other 6 days of the week. It was a release, a chance to let off some steam without having to look over your shoulder or worry about upsetting the person next to you. As for the kids, if more parents took the approach that Heilandee does then kids would be better prepared for the "Big Bad World" - Many of societies problems today can, IMO, be traced back to parents trying to hide their kids away from the "nastier" things in life instead of educating them and teaching them how to deal with it. As a kid, I knew that if my parents swore in public that it was wrong (it was only acceptable for adults) and I wasn't to repeat it. I remember once, after I swore on the bus, telling my mother that I was now in double figures (age wise) - I got no argument on the bus, but I was met with "double figures" of the belt when I got home :015:

Oh Pleaseeeeeeee. You really should stay off the HRT as it's making you over emotional and prone to reading far more into whats being said than is really there. -
Surely "Going down in the box" is a perfectly hetrosexual comment???

Salvatore Lucchini has been found guilty of robbing a bank and will not be able to play for some time. Luckily the team has a skilled lawyer who managed to get the sentence reduced substantially.

Doesn't have to be dropped from the starting XI, but thats not to say that where the game allows he can't be hooked in order to give Caff longer spells on the pitch. Also, if we get our pre-season preperations right then that should give Caff (assuming he is to be Dods replacement) ample opportunity to be part of the squad and gel with the rest of the back four (asuming we stick with a back four for next season). As well as being a solid player for us Dods is also an inspiration to many of the lads in the team. When it was announced that he had signed a pre-contract I could see the merits in the argument for dropping him but he has shown us that would have been totally unjustified by continuing to give his all since. He is showing the lads in the team that look up to him that you can and should continue to give everything to the team paying your wages and who's badge is on the front of your shirt - a quality that is slowly dieing out in modern day players. Some players would be moving on to their new club and leaving a sour taste in the mouth of the fans they were leaving behind, but I think Dods will move on having gained just a bit more respect from the ICT fans for the way he has conducted himself in the whole affair. In short, he has earned the right to represent the ICT badge until the end of the season. To hook him now would be a slap in the face for everything he has given to us in his time here. -
It would appear that many of them are turning in to a right bunch of 'Nancy Boys' - what ever happened to the days of growing a thick skin and answering your critics by sticking the ball in the back of the net to silence them.

Many people get hung up on having the fastest most efficient processors when they will rarely if ever stretch thier PC far enough to come close to using all it's resources. One of my PCs is a 1.2GHz AMD Duron Processor with 512MB Ram which will happily allow me to do most of what I need to do on a day to day basis. The PC is about 5 or 6 years old and is rarely turned off and until I started work again 8 months ago it was in use for over 12 hours every day. It's not much cope when it comes to video/picture/music editing or for playing games with complex graphics, but for everything else it rolls along nicely. The relationship between processor and motherboard, graphics card etc can also be important in getting the best from what you buy, and it it seems to have become even more important in recent years. For that reason it's a bit of a false economy to go for a high end processor at the cost of other components which aren't up to the task. Building your own high-end PC used to be a breeze. Now, unless your on top of everything thats going on it's a total minefiled IMO. If your not aiming at high end then it's hard to beat what the likes of Dell & PC World are offering up at the moment for your average user. Also, if your not after a high end PC for specific reasons then it's well worth considering a laptop - plug in a keyboard mouse and monitor for home use and you'll rarely tell the difference in day to day use. Those are the ramblings of someone who used to be on top of "What's What" with PC technology, but has kinda lost track more recently :015:

Take the non-tech discussion over to the right part of the forum please gents.

I could never understand how the law worked on this one. Nothing wrong with being gay, so their should be nothing wrong with being called gay. Surely it's those who take objection to being called gay that are being offensive, their very actions set them aside as someone who sees being gay as something derogatory.

Nearly as embarassing as them relying on the supporters to raise the £3000 needed to buy it!!!

From what I can make of the whole thing the treatment she got helped deal with the physical side of her ailment but did little to help her psychologically or she wouldn't have relapsed so easily/quickly. I'm saying that you can't just put a cost on someone's life in that manner - If it takes £5000/week to save a life then that's what it takes and I think you have to look just as much at the people charging this money as those receiving it. With Obesity becoming such an apparent 'National' problem then we should not be relying on overpriced private facilities. If it is the huge issue these documentaries make it out to be then surely it makes more sense to set up public facilities to reduce the costs of dealing with the problem. Documentaries, by their very nature, are designed to be over dramatic and look at the extremes of any situation. It's also well documented that the people involved are no strangers to setting up shots such as you suggest above to enhance the shock factor of any given situation. As is often the case with any argument, the truth often lies somewhere in the middle. People have to lose a certain amount of weight in order to make the risks of surgery acceptable, very little to do with "proving" themselves worthy. Breaking the cycle is the hardest part in dealing with any kind of obsessive/addictive disorder and in extreme cases such as those being talked about on here the individuals are seldom capable of doing this without external intervention. I would be very interested in IHE's (professional persona talking) opinions on this subject given the fact that we are dealing with a psychological issue (albeit with severe physical consequences).

Agree 100% with the last post - will make further comment once I have had a chance to review my transcript from the AGM, but I am certain we were told by the Board that ALL members would be consulted and have the opportunity to comment on spending proposals before monies were distributed. Their seems to be some very loose interpretation of the constitution going on with regards to what qualifies as community development.

I said nothing about supporting it, I was merely taking it to the extreme to make the point regarding "where do you draw the line?" So whats the answer? You suggested above that the boy in question be taken in to care, the cost of which would be met from public money (i.e. Taxes), yet you grudge your taxes being used to help this woman. Do we go down the American route of scrapping the NHS so only those who can afford proper medical care get it? Or do we lay out some kind of criteria in order that people qualify as "deserving". Who decides who's life is worth more than the next persons? Does the fact that a persons makeup lends them more suceptible to obesity really mean they don't deserve NHS treatment? Our system may not be perfect, but I like to think it's a few steps ahead of playing god or deciding a persons fate in direct colleration to the size of their bank balance. Some on this thread talk as if obesity is a clear cut choice these people make, and because they are fat they deserve everything that comes to them - they clearly have little or no understanding as to the underlying issues which cause it, off which there are many.

I think CC has a massive fear of failure which is in direct conflict with his ambitions for the club. Here we have a guy who has given the best part of his career to ICT, who was in a 'job for life' behind the scenes and out of the direct public eye. He was offered the managers job which he had to think long and hard about taking (due to fear of failure) but his ambitous side was stronger and he couldn't turn down the chance. Move on to this day and I think he is still battling that conflict internally. I don't think he's so much "looking for excuses" as looking for everyone to be as ambitous and pationate as he is about the club. He needs that to fuel the part of his personality that saw him take the Managers job and to justify to himself that he made the right choice, and without it the "fear" creeps back in every now and again and nothing will have brought it back more than the result against Celtic. Thats when he appears to lash out at the fans in the manner he has done in this weekends press. He needs to learn though that fans are fickle creatures and like any creature, when they are attacked, they will retaliate or run and that his comments could be counter productive. There are 101 reasons why fans aren't as vocal or sounding as vocal as he would like, not all of them down to the performance on the pitch either. Personality, Stadium Atmosphere etc etc all play a part. As some wise dude once said - "Don't bring me problems, bring me answers" - so I would ask CC, what is the answer? what can the fans AND the club do to improve things?
