  1. As I said already, the Mckay deal taking till Friday PM may have scuppered one (possible) contingency plan. It's just as feasible that it's wrong to assume that "contingency plan" meant bringing someone in...could just as easily have meant that Watkins had been training in that position to cover. If that was the contingency (short term)....then it worked out fine, IMO. When Yogi did the interview last week he stated that he had various options to consider....and one of the things he said was that just because the transfer window closes, doesn't mean they stop looking to bring someone in. I'm not saying people shouldn't talk about it or have an opinion on the situation....but there's a lot of remarks being made and slurs being cast on people's characters which are based on wild supposition. We have a chairman who has brought the clubs budgets under control and has us living within our means...and he's done that whilst still providing the manager/s sufficient funds to deliver success on the park. I think he deserves a tad more respect than some people are showing him just now. If people want to bad mouth or belittle me for holding that view, fill your boots.
  2. How do you know they didn't? The Mckay transfer did not complete until Friday PM, which doesn't leave much room for getting someone...even a pre-determined target...signed and ready to go for the Saturday. Physically getting them here would be a major undertaking in itself. Having been denied that opportunity, then it makes sense to take a bit of time to re-evaluate the situation...and also get a look at any players who became free agents following the closure of the transfer window. Having Watkins replace Mckay on Saturday didn't exactly prove to be the disaster some folk predicted, so that too has to be factored into the decision making. We seem to be going from the ridiculous "Sign someone...doesn't matter who, just anyone" to the absolute ludicrous, with allegations that the club are deliberately self harming by not signing someone (yet). It's pure hysteria and even normally sensible thinking people seem to be getting caught up in it. I personally find it bizarre (and somewhat worrying) that an event such as Transfer Deadline Day can have that effect on a community.
  3. Today's home match v Dunfermline has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.
  4. I hope they know the cut off is before 12am 12am is Midnight.
  5. Hi Glad you are looking forward to the Super Bowl Marshawn Lynch refused to speak to the media and has been fined over $10,000 a couple of times. Now he does interviews and says " No Comment" or such like. At the Super Bowl he broke his silence by saying why he does not do interviews. "Basically I go back to my family that's all I care about". If you do fantasy American football Marshawn is a must for your team. I think the Sky is a bit nearer than in Chorley , about a 1000 feet or so. However I am in Boat about 10 miles down the road and a bit lower down I like the ya olde git . The lanky version yer howd bugger but still a good effort . Lancastrians often pot the "h" in places they don't belong and miss them where they do. For example in a football score they would announce Hoswestry 5 Orwich 0 I am a bit of a Seattle fan myself having had a few sleepless nights there. Seattle is where the water closet was invented by a man called crapper I'm told . It is also the origin of the term "skid row ", as all the poor people lived at the bottom of the hill and the rich people at the top, through their slops in the street which run with the rain and the mud downwards, Causing the underprivileged to skid around.on the sloppy road. Think you've earned your wings for that post...
  6. Hiding? I suspect you may have been the one hiding as Yogi has clearly stated that he needs a replacement...possibly two.
  7. Just shift it to the Wednesday before....if it was good enough for us to have a midweek before final last season, then I see no problem doing it this season.
  8. Tremendous effort from the ground staff and helpers (young players especially) to get the pitch playable. As said elsewhere....it was calculated that around 45,000 gallons of snow/ice/water were taken off the covers (with just buckets) before they were removed....and then all the work needed to prepare the surface itself. When you consider that there's clubs with whole teams of ground staff (we have two) and all the mod cons in terms of equipment who can't get games on, then you have to wonder how we do it....but everyone pulls together and we do. That commitment then extends to the players who you don't see standing around moaning about the far from ideal conditions, they just get out there and do their bit to try and deliver a result. Whether Yogi got the tactics right or wrong is a matter of opinion, but if offering up criticism...ask you yourself whether you would have preferred he did not react to the conditions and sent the team out to try and play their normal game on a pitch that wasn't conducive with that style of play! You might believe their was another way to have gone about things...but at least temper it with some recognition of the situation he was presented with. Yogi would be the first person to tell you that everyone is always learning in football...including himself. I'm sure a few things were learned yesterday and what's most important is how those lessons are applied should a similar scenario present itself in future.
  9. You mostly act like it Only mostly? I'll need to up my game.
  10. Think we should just convert the stands into giant ball pits....so much more fun.
  11. I never said he was beyond criticism.
  12. Oh...should have read a bit further, it was there already!
  13. Why bother? Any disagreement will clearly be met with "I was waiting for the happy clappers" type response.
  14. Oh gawd....how long till we get the "n" word?
  15. Reminder to turn that bloody fridge off
  16. BBC match report says it should have been a penalty. "Pictures revealed that Reguero had indeed clipped Watkins and he struggled to retain his balance before tumbling." No question he was clipped, but no ref is going to give a pen for the way he went down. Not a criticism of Watkins, but he took two paces before going down. Feel the contact, go to ground - no argument. Fair play to Watkins if he tried to keep playing, but plenty would have played for the contact and won the pen. No criticism - just was never going to be given as it happened. Pretty sure the penalty should be award for the offence, not based on style marks for how the victim goes down...or have I got that wrong?
  17. BBC match report says it should have been a penalty. "Pictures revealed that Reguero had indeed clipped Watkins and he struggled to retain his balance before tumbling." Footage will confirm it and also confirm that County goal was a clear hand ball...assuming we get more than 30 seconds on Sportscene.
  18. The Seer advises to keep the covers on until 11.00 and game on. How can you inspect a covered pitch?

  20. As Yogi has said....just because we haven't asked any other players to play the advanced striker role this season doesn't mean we don't have any other strikers in the squad. Personally, if we had got to where we are this season on the back of 20+ goals from Mckay then I may be a little apprehensive, but we've got goals coming from guys all over the pitch and no reason that should dry up. Also keep in mind that if Mckay was still here then it's feasible you could be looking at a bench which contained Watkins, Doran, Christie & Vincent....all guys who pose an attacking threat and could easily play the advanced striker role.
  21. I was thinking.... Dinosaur
  22. The seer needs to get his stone serviced as it's clearly malfunctioning.
  23. The problem with reading stuff in the press is that you rarely get the full story on everything that has been said. It's the reason we always put out interviews on the clubs YouTube channel without any unnecessary editing...even if it does mean it's 13 mins long (like this weeks one).
  24. If the pitch isn't playable at 9am then, as the forecast stands (and it could easily change) it's not expected to clear up enough to allow recovery in time for 3pm. If the forecast does change and presents a scenario which may mean the pitch could recover then a decision can always be made to have a further inspection at a later time.
