There's actually a fair bit of difference between Killie's pitch and Hamiltons. The "grass" at Killie is slightly longer and if you were to close your eyes and walk across it then you'd swear you were walking on a natural grass surface. The artificial pitch at Killie is also rated for use by other sports (including rugby), which opens up another market to the stadium if we went that route. Personally, I think an artificial pitch could take ICTFC to another level on so many fronts.... Aside from not having the same hassles as exist at the moment with making sure the pitch is kept in order over the winter, you end up with a facility that could be used pretty much 24/7. This provides a new income stream, not just for use of the pitch, but opens up the potential to develop other facilities at the ground as the footfall increases. You also have the cost saving that comes from not needing a separate training facility or renting pitches for Youth games etc. Holding community kids training programmes etc at the stadium brings people in and increases the sense of ownership. As that develops then so does the sense of community.....it could actually prove to be the catalyst for bringing the city and football club closer and that could also help put a few more bums on seats for match days. Even with the best grass pitch in the world, you could never achieve the above. To me, installing a (good) artificial surface is a total no-brainer.

Personally, I couldn't give a hoot where other teams finish....other than wanting as many of them below us as possible.

Yogi wants players with leadership qualities all over the park...so wouldn't associate him highlighting that quality in a player as necessarily meaning he views them as a potential team captain.

As we're talking "Cult" status and not ability/achievement, then I think Dean McDonald is a fair shout based on the fact that he gained the popularity he did with fans. We've had a few players over the years who, for whatever reason, have been fan favourites despite the fact they might have been found a little lacking in football skill. On equal note, we've had a few great players who never managed to endear themselves to the fans and wouldn't find themselves included on any list of "cult" figures.

McIntyre has already brought in 8 (I think) players...and it's done little to change their fortunes. That would have already cost them with a hike in the wage bill...possibly signing bonuses and agent fees as well. To have done that and possibly be looking at need to bring in as many again during the window does make you wonder just how much money they are prepared to keep throwing at it. We all know how people bigged up as "good businessmen" sometimes struggle to apply the things that have made them successful, to how they run football clubs (The Rangers!!!). Having spoken to someone at the weekend who was aware/familiar with the lad from Nuneaton, he's apparently a pretty useful player....but one player can't do it on their own. Will be interesting to see if Ross County and St Mirren are still against extending the size of the Premiership if either/both are relegated.

Nothing to stop you buying a ticket for the game if you think the cost of your season ticket is below the value of entertainment you're receiving!

It comes down to risk management, especially as there's little or no data upon which to base how it will go...I wouldn't even want to guestimate it. All numbers used below are purely hypothetical. 1. If you do it on a Saturday when your average walk up is 1000 people then your "risk" figure is around the £20,000 mark. 2. If you do it on a Midweek when your average walk up is maybe a third of that then the financial risk is greatly reduced. We know not everyone is going to pay a penny (or at least you'd hope not!), but as it's a first then it's hard to know what people will pay...and it makes sense to minimise the risk. If we guess that people might pay, on average, £10 a head then you need an extra 1000 people on a Saturday to break even...or a third of that midweek. It falls to fans not to abuse it if they want to see it repeated...our fans don't have a history of abusing offers (a few, but not enough to spoil it for everyone), which is why things like the Friend for a Fiver and U12/U16 offers get repeated. Who knows, and I certainly believe it's feasible, if it shows signs of being successful for this game, then there's every chance the club may take the plunge and opt to try it for a Saturday game. I know we talk about "Pay What You Want", but I'd like to think people would view that as "Pay What You Can". It's not intended as a vehicle for people to pay as little as their conscience will allow....it's designed for people to get access to the game for a price that is comfortably affordable and reasonable to them. The club will have full information available in the next couple of days explaining exactly how turnstiles etc will operate on the night. Tickets are on sale now from the stadium (or over the phone)...just tell them how much you wish to pay when you're buying. Pretty sure online ticket sales are for those wishing to pay full price only as the system can't provide an option for people to select their own price....but I'll double check on that. DoofersDad, I think the bucket thing has already been thought about, but I'll flag that it has been mentioned on here just in case it hasn't.

Pretty sure it was Tesselaar. Certainly wasn't Goodwin. He came across to block the cross from Raven. Incidentally, gave Goodwin a bit of banter in the second half and he turned round, laughed and gave a wee thumbs up. Took it well. I almost find myself liking the guy after that From the (few) times I've interacted with him, he seems like a decent enough bloke....off the park at least!

Surely your point would only be valid if I was jumping down the throat of every criticism made on the forums....but I don't do that because I do realise that everything is not perfect. In fact, I actually acknowledge within my post that there's things which can be done. Unless what you're trying to say is that people should be allowed to post as they please without comment or response from others...which would defeat the whole point of having a discussion forum?! If you, DD or anyone else disagrees with my comments, then feel free to offer an alternative view or analysis of the topic....otherwise, do one and stop annoying me with your BS posts which serve only as an attack on the poster and not the post....and add nothing which furthers discussion.

He's still on parole, so not technically "served his time"...which is why the MoJ have said it would be impossible for him to work abroad. Leaving aside my personal thoughts on the matter, it would be logistically impossible for him to play for ICTFC as we do not have the infrastructure required to meet the (reported) conditions of his parole.

I actually disagree with him on the "Poor Belief" thing. IMO, the fans in this country have a great deal of belief in Scottish Football. Sadly, and it's rather criminal, the media do not portray or reflect that belief and, even worse still, the SFA & SPFL are selling us short....something that the media are also guilty of doing. If people in this country were so lacking in belief then why do more people in Scotland (per head of population) attend games than almost anywhere else on the planet?

Sorry DD, but I read your post as being a pop at the home fans as well. Not suggesting we do nothing to generate atmosphere at home, but if your expectation is recreating what happens with our fans away then you will forever be disappointed. Frustrating as it might be, there is nothing you, I, the club or anyone else can do to bring the away crowd atmosphere to the home stadium.....and it's the same for every other club around the world. Until a couple of years ago I had never read a football book in my life....I don't think I had ever even bought a football magazine. In fact, I've still never bought a football book, but I have received a few as presents. If asked what I've learned most from those I've read it would be that the world of football has no comparison. How clubs operate cannot (and should not) be looked at or run as you would any other business and, perhaps more importantly, football fans are not comparable to fans of other sports...nor do they behave like customers of any other product. Even when it comes to drawing comparisons between clubs you have to tread carefully as no two clubs operate in the same way and no two sets of fans have the same "dynamics". If you think about it, that makes a lot of sense....after all, if every club did everything the same and behaved in the same way then what would drive a person to choose one over another? I'll stop before I get any further off topic...this is the match thread after all!!
