Can someone please tell me what on Earth was going on with the corners yesterday? Everytime there was a corner, Sanchez and Imrie (or Hayes towards the end) went over and seemed to discuss amoungst themselves what to do. Sometimes it was a cross into the box, sometimes it was a short one, and sometimes it was a pass to the edge of the box. What's it all about? It must be something they were trying out in the week, and from what I could see it was pretty ineffective. IMO corners should be crosses into the box pretty much everytime. Discuss.

For those who want a right winger (something where a new signing may also be beneficial I reckon), what about that bloke Neil McCann who was at Falkirk last season? He might be getting on a bit but he's pretty experienced (played for Hearts, Rangers, Falkirk, Dundee and Southampton) and has played 26 times for Scotland scoring three goals. I seem to remember whipping in a number of good crosses from the wing during the 1-1 game at home last season. He's without a club just and is well worth a look I reckon.

Did you know that Darren Dods is reputed to have given away more own goals than any other player in Scotland Indeed I did know something along those lines. He scored 4 OGs for St Johnstone in one season I believe. Ace when he was here mind.

Cox played in his one and only for Leicester at right back against Hinchcliffe. It was regarded as his natural position when he was there was alluded to when he signed.

Was any of brewsters teams good? Yes, he signed Dargo in his first spell and in his second he signed Imrie, Morais and Mihadjuks. All decent signings.

We need cover for defence whilst keeping our options open so who better than Stratford. He can play defence or mid. Makes sense to me. Besides, the players mentioned have played more in a losing team than they have in a winning one. At the moment there seems to be a winning balance. The man has to choose 16 out of 26. 10 will not be chosen each week and its very likely that every one of them could put up an arguement to be in the team. Cox and McBain can also be played in defence (Cox at right back and McBain the left). Eagle was also said to be able to play left back when he signed by someone. I'd even rather have Djebi-Zadi on the bench, instead of Stratford. At least he does something!

That's the problem, Butcher seems to think Tokely's a good centre half - he ain't. And Proctor, no thanks, he was played there under Brew fairly regularly and wasn't exactly what you'd call good.

For me the only place for me where a signing is definaltely needed is at centre-half. Both Bulvitis (whom I believe is actually a natural right back) and Munro can both have off games, yet there is no-one there to replace them. A big Darren Dods/Pavels Mihadjuks/Bobby Mann type wouldn't go a miss in January.

I agree with many of the points of the above poster, but it's interesting to notice that Robert Eagle seems to be the first of Butcher's Boys (ie - the ones he signed) that has been dropped completely. As far as I know aint injured And why oh why is Stratford still on the bench, when from what I've seen McBain and Nick Ross are a heck of a lot better (even though McBain was injured today)?

For me it was - Rooney Sanchez Foran A real hard decision for me really, as even though Rooney got a hat trick, I thought Sanchez was excellect. Went with Rooney in the end. The third choice was quite hard as well, but it could easily have been Imrie or even Hayes, who I thought looked very good when he came on.

You don't just rate players on the fact they scored. Bulvitis wasn't bad today, but Foran and Sanchez were a heck of a lot better on the pitch.

The most enjoyable home game this season I reckon. Great result and it could of been more, but on the whole, I don't think there was three goals between the two teams but ICT deserved to win. Morton weren't exactly amazing, but they did have a couple of chances. The standouts for me today were obviously Rooney, Foran and Sanchez. Rooney strangely enough didn't do much else than score his goals, but after all, that's what he's there for and he took each one well. He could've even had four or five today, with the Morton keeeper excellently saving a goalbound header of his, just after he's scored the penalty. Foran was very hard working and has some leap on him. Again, he was all over the pitch and switching with Imrie regularly on the wing and Sanchez now an again. The only thing about him though, is he seems awfully hot headed at times, and the impression I got was he was taken off before he was sent off. For me, that was the best I've ever seen Sanchez. He looked quite good going forward, and passing to wings was excellent. Seemed to beating men on the wings as well today which was very good and fairly effective. Of the rest, Proctor had a productive if quiet game. The same could be said for Duncan, who was effective at times knocking the ball wide, but did have a few spells of his regular wayward passes. Imrie was good but maybe tries too hard. He was good and hardworking on the wings, but could do with improving his first touch and not going for the glory himself all the time. There was a couple of times when he should of knocked the ball into the box, but instead went on his own to the line, which wasn't as effective. Of the backline, Esson barely had a save to make but had no chance with the goal. How refreshing it is to see a goalie in an ICT shirt just rolling or throwing the ball out wide. Far better than Michael Fraser's tactics of holding it, holding it and holding it somemore, and then punting the ball aimlessly forward as hard as he could. Tokely didn't have the best of first halves from what I could see but was better in the second. He was like a battering ram at times down the right wing, and his slinky keepy uppys on the byline to knock the ball out for a corner were ace. :021: The only thing is now is that he seems to get quite puffed out towards the end of games. Maybe not fully fit just yet. Bulvitis seems to get better every week and took his goal well. Look the more solid of the two centre backs today, but needs to look for a pass times instead of hoofing the ball forward. He could've had two or three as well today! Golabek was fairly effectively down the left flank though was quiet for spells, but solid nonetheless. Don't know if he's the absolute answer but will do for now with his current performances. Munro wasn't his best today, but wasn't bad. The first 20 minutes or so he looked a bit shakey, and at one point punted the ball to a Morton man on the wing, and then a wayward pass to a Morton striker about 20 feet away led to a Morton attack, all in the space of a minute. As the game went on he became better and seems to have finally realised that these long hoof down the middle are no use and seems to be punting the ball wide to Imrie down the right today which was good, especially when the latter was in space. Not an overly bad day at the office for him. Of the substitutes, Hayes look very good when he came on. Fairly fast and can beat a man as well. I like him. Cox didn't have much time to do much, but still did alright. Barrowman was unlikely not to score in the last minute. It could've been either him or Sanchez to knock it home, but in the end it was neither. Snazzy boots mind. :021: For me today, the unusually unhatted Butcher got it right today. A fluid sort of style was used, with the front four, especially Foran and Imrie changing fairly reguarly, with Proctor or Duncan occaisonally peeling out to the wing as well. It reminded me of last seasons Man U with many players not playing a set positions. Passing and first touches were a heck of a lot better today asw ell, but a couple still need to work on them. It's been obvious for months that attacking football has to be used, especially at home if ICT was to get promoted this season, and today we got just that. I'm not going to count my chickens yet, but if ICT keep playing the way they are, promotion is not an impossible dream this season.

I've never seen him play actually, but from what I know about him, could he be a bit on the small side for this league?

Aint it interesting that I get slaughtered from some of my suggestions and views on here, but get proven right time and again. I reckon it's time this site started making "Renegade was Right" T-Shirts, they'd be sold out in no time! B) :D I love that you're trying to take credit for this or you believe any of your pre-selections threads have been anywhere near the team that was picked today!!! It was his player selection that was attacking not the formation... remember he was still playing only 1 up front with Foran & Imrie coming from wide. A long way from your 3-1-3-3 or 2-1-3-4!! Might not be exactly the formation I put forth but it seems that Butcher finally got it through his head, that attacking football is what has to be used. I've been going about that since before he had the ICT job. And with the second point, it depends what you call "one up front". I personally wouldn't mind seeing Foran in the Puskas-esque role as a deep lying forward, but with yesterdays result, you can't really complain.

Don't know which game the guy who did the Courier ratings was watching. Munro and Golabek both got 8/10! Neither had a particularly bad game, but I thought Golabek was awfully quiet and Munro wasn't quite as good as he's been in recent weeks. It also said Tokely was unlucky to be booked and Stratford had an "unusually quiet game". Sorry, but when has Stratford ever had an eventful game? I must have been looking at something else when he was setting the heather alight.

All ICT need is a bit of class. Someone that bring the fans out and inspire the team to victory.
