Duncan Ferguson ended up going to jail for a headbut not any worse than that..... Maybe referees were more lenient in these days - Thanks to John Rowbotham, Big Dunc was neither booked, nor sent off in that game - Rangers vs Raith Rovers.... It was the procurator fiscal who watched it on Scotsport and called for him to be arrested and charged....

As far as I can recall when CC was appointed to succeed CB, as many as 80% of the fans probably approved of the appointment... Judging by recent polls taken on this site he still has that support.... Unfortunately, given the first whiff of a poor performance or result the anti CC brigade are extremely quick to air their dissaproval..... As Absent Friend rightly points out the balance is never redressed given a decent performance or result... Was it Abraham Lincoln who once said - "You can't please all the people all the time" ...? Time to draw a line under this now........

I was impressed by this comment in today's Scotsman... MAN OF THE MATCH Grant Munro(Inverness CT) On a day when creativity and imagination were at a premium, it was the Inverness centre-half whose performance towered over everyone else in what was generally a grim spectacle. Firm and precise in the tackle and dominant in the air, Munro is as capable a defender as any in the SPL. Praise indeed - Especially considering that his opposite number in the Rangers side is Scotland's centre-half.... :024:

To all who've suggested that Terry Butcher did a great job at Mothersmell - Don't forget he had an excellent Number 2 there - who is now Number 1.... TB's record anywhere else hasn't exactly been impressive.....

The biggest plus in that result for me is it was achieved without Dods... :015: :015: Brilliant..... Apologies for off topic.... Reminds me of a concert Billy Connolly gave in Middlesbrough, back in eighties, during some major child abuse fiasco that had rocked the city... He had been told not to mention that incident, but walked on to the stage, and after peering at the audience for about 5 minutes, eventually said - "Very strange audience this is.... nearly all women... Where are all the menfolk? ... Are they all at home screwing the kids...." He got booed off the stage and the concert was cancelled......

Much as I like TB, I wouldn't say he achieved that much more at Motherwell than Brewster/ CC have achieved here.... Maybe he could be a number 2 here if Donald ever wanted to move on.... I agree about "opening up this old chestnut again" but I suspect it is already to late....!! Funny how no one has suggested **** Campbell could replace CC.....

Can anyone mind, maybe about ten years ago, a ref handling a Liverpool game at Annfield ran up the pitch to half-way line, leaping around and clapping like an idiot, after Liverpool had scored? The explanation was that he was really pleased with himself for applying the advantage rule to Liverpool when everyone else was screaming for a foul.... I must admit it didn't look good - he probably had them on a fixed odds correct score coupon.... :017:
