  1. That stat is really impressive and contrasts with Real Madrid's policy of buying the worlds most glamorous and expensive players. It's great to see long-term team building triumph over short-term splurging. Only a team that has grown together with a common ideology could play football like we saw last night - they pass and move as if they are reading their team-mates' minds. Franco's favourites showed a complete lack of dignity throughout their humiliation. The way Sergio Ramos lunged at Messi was disgraceful and he should be banned for a very long time for that and his subsequent assault of Puyol and Xavi as he stormed off. Carvalho should've had at least two red cards and Cristiano Ronaldo had the cheek to lay his grubby mits on Pep. Well done Barca for putting these cnuts in their place.
  2. Who's to say he can replicate his current scoring record? It would be a helluva gamble for the boy to stay with us on the assumption that we'll keep playing so well / he'll keep scoring so many goals / we'll keep getting so many penalties. This is his chance to go and play at a higher level and make himself more financially secure. He has to take it now.
  3. Small Championship teams / big League 1 teams can offer Adam 3 or 4 times the weekly wage that we can. With 11 goals in 15 SPL games his stock is never going to be higher. If i was in his shoes i'd seize the moment and hoof it January.

  5. I actually thought we were better for the 1st hour when we had an extra man in midfield. Celtic brought Towel on for Hooiveld and changed their 3-5-2 to a 4-4-2 allowing them to get a get a firm grip on the midfield. But all of that counts for little when you're up against the kind of spirit that we have in our side. At 2-0, i looked at the way our players were buzzing around the pitch fighting for every ball, moving it forward with intent, and i thought, christ, they actually believe we can get back in this game........feckin legends every one of them.
  6. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! la Ayneverness. That's what my commentator said anyway.
  7. That was coming. They've been turning the screw ever since Towel came on.
  8. I think we've been very good. Nick Ross is finding space between the lines and making brilliantly incisive, Iniesta-like little through balls - i'm beginning to realise just how good that boy is. Cox has also impressed and Foran caused a few problems early on. Unfortunately for Richie, he's being penalised every time he engages in a physical tussle with a Celtic defender. Are they getting more than their fair share of the tight decisions or am i being paranoid?
  9. They do not deserve that.
  10. Same team as last week.
  11. Did Celtic consult the CIA World Factbook before sanctioning this appointment? 87% of Luxembourgers are Roman Catholic. Were fecked.
  12. Jew are yi?
  13. Israelis!!! I'll get this old one in first: are they Catholic Jews or Protestant Jews?
  14. "?Eye of linesman, Toe of hun, And at last our spell is done. Hebble, pebble, songs of rebel, Now the hoops will win the treble!"
  15. I think the refs should have articulated more clearly exactly what point they are trying to make by striking. Have the released an official statement? Is Kenny Clark speaking for them or just mouthing off in his usual manner? The above quote from Clark is pretty straightforward and there isn't much to disagree with, but i'd like to know if that's the official reason for the strike. Regardless, i certainly won't be attending any match on Saturday that's officiated by a scab ref. I hope to go to Celtic Park on Saturday to see a game handled by Scottish ref who's received sufficient assurances and support from the SFA to feel he can carry out his job properly. If he's developed a grudge against Celtic then all the better.
  16. Good work Caley, and while i believe we can do it, i have my doubts. While the spirit of team is obviously great and all of the players are playing to a very high standard, the way we play makes us reliant on two forward players to create and score our goals on the break. What happens if those players get injured or are sold? The squad is small and we don't have replacements of the same quality. I think we're stick-ons for a top 8 finish, and the 15 point gap we've opened with Hamilton makes relegation unthinkable, but top 6 might be pushing it just a bit. Of course, if we keep the team together and the Irishmen stay injury free then we might just pull it off. Here's hoping.
  17. I gave you a red dot as well. Krishima pretty much nailed the reason why i didn't reply in a more eloquent manner than i could mange so we'll just leave it at that. The post in question currently has a rating of +2 though, so i wouldn't get too upset about it.
  18. Highlights up. I didn't realise from my Bridge End vantage point just how good some of those moves were. The 1st and 3rd goals are just incredible. Hayes pass to Rooney for the 3rd!!! Rooney's finish!!!!
  19. Huntly 4 Clachnacuddin 3 Huntly were 3-0 down with just over half an hour to go. This is how Pele does it.
  20. I payed my respects yesterday as i always do - by raising a dram to Willie McBride. In contrast to the tabloid driven worship of the "heroes who fight for our freedom" (and consequent support of those wars) that has characterised much of this past couple of weeks, the song pays tribute to the dead soldier but laments the futility of the war which killed him. The display by the Green Ultras may he have been crude, but i think it's been positive to have voices of dissent during a period that has increasingly become a commercialised "month-long drum-roll of support for current wars", as a group of veterans expressed it in a letter to the Guardian last week. The letter ends like this: "The public are being urged to wear a poppy in support of "our Heroes". There is nothing heroic about being blown up in a vehicle. There is nothing heroic about being shot in an ambush and there is nothing heroic about fighting in an unnecessary conflict. Remembrance should be marked with the sentiment "Never Again".
  21. As far as i'm aware he's been fit for months now - he's certainly been taking his place on the bench most weeks. As Div1309 says, he came off the bench at Easter Road and won the penalty but he hasn't featured since. The form of Nick Ross has been a real killer for Dani as he now finds himself 3rd choice behind Nick and Eric for the position of weedy floater behind the striker. We can't afford to have more than one of them on the pitch in such a physical league. He may get his chance later in the season. We certainly shouldn't let him go while our squad is so small.
  22. You beat me to it Scotty. This should make fans realise just how thin our resources are. Makes current achievments look even more impressive.
  23. Only 6 six subs? I don't think that's a mistake. Shane has tonsilitis and it seems that there isn't another fit player in the 1st team squad to take his place........but Terry never moans.
  24. This thread on OTB is a bit of an eye opener. After a series of ridiculously out of their league suggestions like Steve Clarke and Jimmy Calderwood a consensus seems to be forming that Brew is the man for the job. What a bunch of tools.
