First ever 6 in the SPL. On a cautious note, Gretna was the source of 12 points this year. I cannot see Hamilton giving us that many next year.
-
Dean's more like Gerd Muller. Maybe he is praying Barrowman signs and he can play off him.

Our problem is attracting fans. That must surely be a priority. It is amazing we are talking about 'diehards' when we are in Scotland's number one league. I'll offer a couple of previous suggestions to improve this position. Every single business within a radius of 20 miles or so should be offered an exclusive season ticket deal. Even schools might participate. Sports awards could be to see an SPL game. If hotels, shops, workplaces invested ?150 per annum surely this would increase income and interest? Hotels could offer guests a 'free' ticket. There might be a security consideration but the owner of the book would be liable for guests. We consider offering discounted tickets for perhaps three hours every Friday morning before home games.

Whenever I see Kirk Broadfoot I not only think of him as out of his depth but also feel he is the SPL's most intellectually challenged player.

Bonnie Charlie's now awa', Safely owre the friendly main; Mony a heart will break in twa, Should he no' come back again. Chorus Will ye no come back again? Will ye no come back again? Better lo'ed ye canna be, Will ye no come back again? 2. Ye trusted in your Hieland men, They trusted you, dear Charlie; They kent you hiding in the glen. Your cleadin' was but barely. Chorus 3. Charlie Christie Wants His Old Job Back
CELTIC1CALEY3 replied to MichaelICT's topic in Caley Thistle
He blames Bayne for Celtic scoring twice in a minute. No wonder Bayne has had a disappointing season. -
Denis has been given many chances of late and has not scored for some time. Few of our players have scored. There is still a good chance Denis will score 20 goals or more over two more seasons. A difficult decision for Brew. An agent's nightmare - he asks for the earth and his player does not deliver. Denis still has a lot to prove at SPL level. Skill is Denis's greatest asset.

Do you want to see Marius in an ICT shirt next season?
CELTIC1CALEY3 replied to dead_ball_specialist's topic in Caley Thistle
Marius's appointment was a piece of vision. The Highlands continues to develop for the better. I have no doubt that if Marius does stay he will be outstanding next year and this will develop players around him. Manchester United are unlikely to offload Ronaldo and in our context Marius is potentialy the equivalent on a lower scale. -
This is a dreadful way to treat a decent guy like Marius. That aside, this has now been an interesting season so far. We never had this intrigue in the SFL.
-
Procter is playing better than Dods so we did a good deal there.
-
Celtic hold the record for the worst ever - Scheidt. ?5M of it dumped by a South American agent.
-
Thomas Buffel....?2.3m for what? Last scored in 2006. We complain about some of our lads but Buffel is someone Rangers have almost tried to give away.

He has to be kept on his toes. Once he hung up his boots he went into free fall again as a Manager. Significant numbers of Celtic supporters do not support Strachan. Dons supporters often turn on the tubby red one. It is not easy being a Manager in the SPL or in general most clubs. If we make steady progress in the final four games we will approach pre season with caution. We will have quite a few new players next year so should start very positively but not too so which is a Caley feature. If Brewster and Malky learn from errors then there is no reason we cannot sustain our membership of the SPL. Brew is showing a little bit more presence in the technical area as he adapts from being a player manager. His substitutions appear to be improving. Killie were very weak yesterday but a 3-0 win in the SPL is a great result. There were signs of ICT of old with the undoubted class of Marius yesterday. A successful raid on Tynecastle will turn our season into a fairly successful one - especially if Celtic win the League. If Denzil scores down there and we resign him that will close the season on a high. One person not getting praise at the moment is Roy McBain who came close yesterday to a 'hat trick' of goals in three successive games. Not bad when you consider he has also adapted well as a left back.

Another club that thinks its above the fans
CELTIC1CALEY3 replied to wyness_is_god's topic in General Football
Gretna was predictable, Rotherham was predictable, Romanov will dance merrily away from ?40m of debt. Who wants debt? Credit crunch, odd bunch, I have a hunch. It takes little for Junior Romanov to step on a plane and leave..........and the Hearts supporters plead 'Will ye no come back again?' Then they realise ?40m is a problem no body wants not even the Romanovs. Dundee reached far less than that when their magic money evaporated. The Proclaimers will sing 'Lochaber no more, Tynecastle no more,.....' -
'I dinning do nuffing wrong Brew, I got MT on me chester cose I got nuffink up top Brew....that's why you's like me as yus number twos.........Brew you still behind me like the good old days at United?'
-
Lovell can only score against us. That said we should be able to get more out of him than Dundee or Aberdeen. I suspect he will wait to see if Dundee get promoted. Bus scored a great goal for us recently which clearly did not impress the tubby red faced one.
-
Brewster is surprisingly quiet. Presumably he is the other part of the 'we' if you pardon my expression.
-
For Aberdeen, beating ICT 4-3 was their cup final. They had already booked their place in Europe before the Semi which is classic underestimation of the opposition. For the nice guy Chisholm, this must be sweet after Ross County and Dundee United ditched him with little regard. I wonder if Calderwood will be disciplined for calling Aberdeen a joke? Who would be a manager?

Has anyone seen Tommy we need the floodlights on...

On 11 January 2008 - Inverness player-manager Craig Brewster revealed his playing career would officially be over at the end of the season. This meant Inverness losing their star striker after beating Gretna 3-0. Brewster had just been made MOM so how would he cope not playing and would the team be able to cope without this top class striker. On 14 January after a whipping by Hibs in the cup ICT WERE currently just four points behind third-placed Motherwell. .................................................................. ...scroll down 8 goals scored, 24 conceded, dropped from fourth to nineth, and then they met Gretna again and although Gretna were 20 odd players lighter, Gretna nearly salvaged a point. In the interim the players quite rightly felt Brewster the Manager, no longer Brewster the Player Manager, was not exactly Manager of the Month as he waited an age to get his first true win as a Manager. I suppose the meagre 8 goals we scored were because he was not playing any longer.
-
If you are Brew's agent, what sort of payoff did Dundee give him and how much would ORION have to find now?
-
Aberdeen and Hibs have recruited from Dutch or English non league football. Juanjo will not have lost his skill. Work on his fitness and we have a proven SPL player. By early August he may be top class again.
-
I agree with Yngwie that we have to cope with the bad times. Dundee United, Motherwell and our neighbours Aberdeen were for years relegation fodder. Only the SPL rules on large all seater stadia that did not exist outwith the SPL saved them from the trap door opening. However, something went seriously wrong behind the scenes. The rise of John Rankin lead to a resurgence and at some time he decided he wasn't wanted and made real steps to protect himself by selling his house. The team then perhaps coincidentally then plummetted. MOM and POM awards seemed to be our zenith too. However, no manager can be pleased with 7 straight defeats and having experienced even worse than that in his last very unsuccessful job it seemed fair that we reminded Brew that although he said he had learned from his Dundee United nightmare, he perhaps hadn't learned enough. I hope this period has been a great learning experience not just for Ian Black.

The top six split adds some interest as we discover Monday night. If we didn't have the split there would be little to play for with sides moaning they had 2 away and 1 home for 6 opponents in a 33 game league. Would you prefer a 15 team league with 28 games and two relegated teams?
