  1. I didn't dismiss them because they were relegated (or close to being so) I was dismissing them because they have been deemed not good enough for a team we should be looking to be better than or at the very least as good as and thus if they are not good enough for them they should not be good enough for us. When we got relegated that was obviously a completely different matter. We, like any other team, kept hold of the best players we could and got rid of those who were not good enough to merit another contract. Of the players we let go I do not know of one who is still playing in the SPL and I believe that St Mirren's released players will be the same.. very few will get a new contract in the SPL. I think its clear that Terry is looking to youngsters who haven't quite managed to break into much bigger teams (such as Andrew Shinnie) and players from South of the border in the hope of finding another Lee Cox, Johnny Hayes or Kenny Gillet.
  2. I'd say if they're not good enough to play for a team who only avoided relegation due to Hamilton being so bad then they are not good enough for us. I think Dargo has only scored in 3 games this season or something equally rubbish.
  3. Can't believe that as a student I am expected to pay 20 quid for a nothing end of season game against two teams with literally nothing to play for. Looks like I won't be going to this on after all. Surely it woud have made all kinds of sense to reduce the ticket prices for this game. Hamilton struggle to get people to come and see them at the best of times and in a match where they have already been relegated and are playing (lets be honest) a team that their fans will have no real interest in seeing they could have had more chance of filling at least 1000 seats with reduced prices..
  4. I think the split is a good thing overall. What have we been playing for in the last 6 months? What have we been discussing all the time? Without the split, most of our season would have been a series of meaningless friendlies, with no chance of the title or Europe, and no chance of relegation. How dull would that have been? I just don't like it. We have been playing for a top six finish but surely without the split we'd still be playing to finish as high as we can.. I just personally don't think the league splitting adds anything other than another Old Firn derby which keeps the media/spl happy. Also out of interest does anyone know of any other leagues that use a split format? I don't know of any.
  5. The other argument is that we have been playing 'lesser' opposition but it is very annoying and the whole split format is so stupid.
  6. That's an apples and oranges analogy. First of all, Vigurs was young player who had only been at the club for a relatively short time. Duncan has played consistently and consistently well for over a decade. ICT weren't always noticeably better or worse, whether Vigurs played or not. It is pretty much indisputable that ICT are a far superior team when Duncan plays. Questions were asked, and rumours surfaced in early 2009, that Vigurs in training was either late, didn't turn up, or simply came across as lazy and uninterested. No-one can doubt that passion and commitment that Duncan has and continues to have for ICT. This'll be the same Vigurs who's too good to stay at county after this season. Good enough to play for Celtic but will likely sign for Hibs or Cheltenham Town. He is quoted as having told someone that. Anyway whoever gets Russel is getting a bargain. I was just suggesting that at the end of the day we are football fans, Terry is the manager. We can be gutted (which I am) but we have to trust Terry's decisions and so far on the whole we can't complain about what he has done for the club.. But anyway here's hoping this time next year we are speaking about the fantastic new squad we have rather than who is leaving..
  7. im absolutely gutted that russell is leaving and i also feel that we are always better when he is in the team. But i'm going to go with terry on this one. i remember around about this time two years ago when the list of players being released/re-signed was announced and vigurs had been told he would be released the uproar it created on this forum. that seems to have worked out just fine..
  8. I think that guy has been visiting charity shops buying old shirts and claiming them to be 'rare and matchworn'
  9. Hayes because is more of a match winner.
  10. I wouldn't be adverse to Colin Nish coming here, despite many years of calling him Colin Pish. But I don't see how this move is of any major benefit to Adam. He surely wouldn't be getting THAT much more money at Hibs and if he doesn't settle in properly he could quite easily become another player who disappears into the ether.

i think its fairly safe to say that he wasn't dropped per say for this match. it was merely a case of giving Ryan a rest/giving Johnny a run out. Despite coming to ICT probably knowing he wasn't going to be first choice it must still be quite demoralising for one of the better keepers about to be warming the bench and it is important for Butcher to keep the whole squad happy. I seem to remember Ryan played in cup games previously when Mike was first choice keeper. But for now Ryan is and quite rightly first choice keeper at ICT.

I'd like to see another striker added to the squad also. No disrespect to Shane Sutherland who I do think one day will be a quality player but I believe it would be naive to think that a youngster who, lets be honest, didn't really light up the Third Division (in fairness at a sh1te team) can provide adequate back up as our second out and out striker. Okay we have Richie, Eric, Dani Sanchez and perhaps Blumenshtein who can all fill in there but I'm not sure I'd class any of them as out and out strikers. Can't say I know anything about the two players you've mentioned but the font of knowledge that is wikipedia tells me that Mackie signed for QPR pre-season and has scored twice in three games for them so I doubt he'd be coming north.
  13. County got six figures when he moved to Liverpool.

i just assumed it was cox who was playing until he came to celebrate with the fans after his free kick and was like 'oh that's not cox, it's morrison' but yeah, well played young man. also, i thought he was on loan at elgin...? I'm guessing this has finished or I'm wrong.
