  1. I dont think that will be our choice sadly, I can see OFW getting an offer from England especially if he goes to the Euro's, Dean being injured much of the season may be a blessing if we want to resign him (which I would) as he's not been in the 'shop window' so we may not have much competition for his signature.
  2. Certainly wouldn't say stokes is a big name, potentially a player with good ability and proven scoring record in Scotland but that's it. Certainly shows a lack of ambition either fighting relegation if he goes to DUtd which I doubt or playing in a lower league even if he does get to play against rangers, doubt any of that will put him on the radar for Euro selection. Perhaps after the niculae lesson of signing players with a reputation or on much higher salaries it just unsettles the rest of the team so maybe there are better options out there to fit with our club dynamic.
  3. Its starting to get worrying that we still have no new deals agreed for those out of contract this summer. 10 of them are pactically mainstays of the team. Very concerning especially after last year when we lost some great talents.
  4. All of it, showed that last year and its not like the rest of Scottish football has got a lot better since then to stop us :-)
  5. Like Michu.......a £25m rated player only 3 years ago, maybe he's the Spaniard Yogi should have siged lol
  6. Please no, how many chances does he need before someone else gets game time? Id go with the Wyness selection if not as below, defensive but the best 11 we can put out just now Fon Williams Raven Warren Tremarco Williams Wedderburn Draper Tansey Polworth Vigurs Storey
  7. Full draw Motherwell v Stirling Albion/Inverness Caley Thistle East Kilbride/Lothian Thistle v Celtic Dundee United v Partick Thistle Dunfermline/Ross County v Linlithgow Rose/Forfar Athletic Rangers v Kilmarnock Annan Athletic v Greenock Morton Dumbarton v Dundee/Falkirk Hearts v Hibernian After avoiding the OF and Edinburgh clubs, I think we probably got the hardest tie we could. Away from home again, lets hope that we continue to get better over the next few weeks - last year we had a replay in 4th round V's St Mirren back at home, then away to SPL opposition in Partick Thistle......maybe there is a pattern emerging?
  8. It just didnt work for Lopez, the game here was too fast and physical, he started in 7 games mainly at the start of the season but never seemed to get into the matches or showed improvement. His spitting incident sadly will be why he is remembered, perhaps frustration at how his season was going, perhaps niave to the change in culture but at his age should have known better. I hope the club made sure that he will be able to get back to Spain with his family and start afresh by doing the right thing when terminating his deal. For all the harsh critisim of Lopez, I feel he still offered and gave more in games than Mutumbo who is still at the club, but with Silva and Lopez now gone this could be seen as an indication that Hughes/board made mistakes or was too hasty trying to get bodies in after not being proactive enough during the season,
  9. We are still in the cup and as written above it could have been much worse, look at Hamilton. Last season we needed a replay in the 4th round,so lets hope this is history repeating. As with many of these ties against smaller teams, they make it hard and today SA had their chance, generally history does not repeat itself twice and I would fully expect that we finish the job comfortably in the replay. I hope the club offer cheap tickets to get bums on seats and everyone comes out to support and get behind the team.
  10. Likewise, only saw a breif glimpse but offered nothing, Mutumbo is another who although he has an exciting name does nothing in his fleeting appearances - he runs about a lot but nowhere near the ball and never towards it. As for Hibs after Stokes that has been suggested since before xmas when him and Allen were touted as being the Hibs signing coup this window
  11. Proven SPL goal scorer with something to prove. If Yogi could control him and get him to play like he did at Falkirk or Hibs then great, but right now he is out of shape, short of game time and needs an attitude check. Depending on who pays his wages, Celtic - he's worth the risk - ICT and I'd rather see that pay for new deals.
  12. Fon Williams Raven Warren Devine Williams . Draper Tansey Polly Vincent Vigurs . Storey Stick with a winning team, but I'd like to see Mutumbo or Silva get one last chance to show whether they can prove themselves. We are on an ever improving run of form so unless someone is tired, injured or suspended we shouldnt weaken the team too much - we are defending cup holders and should look to do everything we can to retain it. If we score a few early goals I'd like to see Hughes make 3 early subs tho.
  13. Agreed but hes a mercenary and will always go where the money is (which I have no problem with), but his history doesnt suggest that he carries sentiment towards a club so if we went after him even with the success of last year I think he'd still go elsewhere - perhaps another SPFL club if there were a few more coins in the pot. But i agree if we could shift a few duds out he'd be a great addition along side Storey for the 2nd part of the season.
  14. Based on us being better first half and dons dominated the 2nd a draw was probably fair result. 2nd half we sat too deep, punted clearances anywhere and never tried to play the ball while they were much more offensive and creative. I struggle to see what mutumbo brings, it's it's a predictable hughes change but yet again I've yet to see him touch the ball - runs like like a headless chicken.
  15. Today collum managed to unite both sets of fans at a game in disbelief at his utter incompetence. Some utterly awful decisions at a basic level made wrong. How he is a top flight ref is unbelievable.
  16. Seems like its been ages since there's been much in the way of threads building up games etc? Anyways Fon Williams Raven Warren Meekings/Devine Tremarco Tansey Polworth Vigurs Vincent Williams Storey Need to restore Raven as Horner was ripped apart last week, if Meekings is fit he plays alongside Warren if not Devine stays, Tremarco back into LB and let Williams play on the wing to run into the box and support Storey. If Drapers still out put Polworth alongside Tansey, if not drop Vigurs and play Polly on the right. Last week we were honking and if we play like that we will get destroyed by Hayes, McGinn, Rooney and MacLean. Need to increase support to Storey if not he cuts a lone figure chasing lost causes with little support. Sadly I think it will be 3-1 to the dons.
  17. Given there is no return of Ryan which was expected really and Storey still no nearer staying combined with how shaky we look its goig to be a worrying month but at least unlike last year we are unlikely to see anyone getting bought although pre-contract is a concern for summer departures. Given that i was dissappointed that Ryan Stevenson has gone on loan from Partick to Ayr, i have always thought he is a player that caused us problems any time he was against us and can score goals, strong and physical to hold up the ball and the kind of player who would help out storey and give us something we dont have especially given our slow build up play we lack that player since ofere left.
  18. Poor performance and poor result from a game we should have done much better against a weak and low confidence Dundee utd. Horner was badly exposed every DU attack, the game was crying out for Raven, although Horner scored he gave little going forward and gave the ball away too easy, he looked looked a real weak point in our side. Virgurs and Polworth yet again gave away possession too easy much like last week. However the distribution from Tansey was great and he linked up well to Williams and Storey on several occasions, showing real class in a weak midfield with a great range of cross field passes. We really need Williams further forward to drive on and support Storey, Tremarco at left back will help this as Vigurs doesn't get forward or offer enough support on the left. Get Raven and Tremarco in with Williams further forward and drop Polworth or vigurs if not I fear the next few games will bring us nothing.
  19. Given the poor quality on show from the summer hughes signings maybe its a transfer revolving door we need to get some of them back out.
  20. Lets not get carried away, killie were awful but we werent much better. We move the ball to slowly forward, we play 3 in midfield behind storey yet they seem scared or unwilling to break and move forward in support instead sitting or dropping back. Too often loose passes in the midfield from polworth and wed, vincent played well and got everywhere and vigurs had a decent game contibuting more than he has in any game ive seen him. meekings is wasted on the right especially when we look weak in the middle with devine still off form. We need either raven or horner right back and tremarco on the left that way williams can be further up field and support storey. Both the subs yet again fail to bring much both had good chances but made poor decisions whether thats lack of fitness, confidence or game time its yet unclear but after half a season they have contributed nothing so have a lot to prove but i dont see that in their play yet.
  21. On another day we would be reading a post on here about how poor the stewards are for not dealing with an unattended bag left lying with all kinds of hysteria made about it for security reasons or if something had been stolen from it - as above everyone knows in the UK now not to leave bags unattended in any public places. Although there is a right to ask why it was taken inside the stadium if there were concerns and if there needs to be a better protocol put in place by the police/stewards for this.
  22. In some ways is this a potential reflection of how far Scottish football has fallen in reputation that a single sponsor can afford 3 SPFL teams especially when its not a major corporation.
  23. Its good to see that the cup defence by the holders is ignored by TV for an all lower league tie.
  24. Thats why I dont like the idea, while ICT may benefit from being favourites in a group, its just yet again a monopolisation for the biggest teams - kind of like the structure of the Champions League or Euro/WC qualifiers. If its regionalised and each group has 5 teams with one being a 'big' club it wont be long til the same matches are repeated regullarly due to the limited numbers of clubs to start with. If anything I would like to see an open draw for the groups regardless if we had to travel to Stranraer or Berwick or even got 4 SPFL clubs, then it has the potential to throw up a surprise and increase media and fan interest.
  25. I'd like to see the club use the window to offload some of the under achievers if it will free up money for other players to come in, my opinion is we shouldnt waste money trying to extend Sho Silva as he's never been fit to play and if there was a way to remove other crocks or under achievers such as Wedderburn, Mutumbo, Vigurs, Lopez we should consider it and bring in players fit and ready to play, but not be looking to offer them new deals yet. Storey needs to stay but also disappointed we havent secured a few established players on deals yet before they can be approached - Vincent, Draper, Williams, Brill, Doran, Raven, Fon Williams - I'd like their new deals tied up before the window and a priority ahead of any of the above listed players.
