Charles,Ehm interested to hear yer take on the Scotish Open (golf) being hosted locally. You have never hidden yer disdain for the Royal and Ancient game and it's participants but surely you must be supportive of the obvious benefits to the area,and will you be brushing up on the rules to run a wee column in the Highland News

I was thinking along those lines too until I noticed the killer line in the newspaper - all the teams have access to an extranet where they could check that the players have been registered. So the "it was in the post, honest" line was no longer a reasonable excuse. If they had made a minimal effort they could have seen for themselves if the registration was acknowledged and if not, contacted the SFA to check. Victims of their own ineptitude really. Ach , i know, and just reading this,the SFA are quite right in nailing these things down, just wish they had this clarity, decisiveness and continuity of punishments in all areas ,still gotta feel sorry for wee teams who's administrative staff are probably part time and doing there best......... Competition rules were recently modified by the SFA after Dunfermline Athletic were expelled then subsequently reinstated to the competition last season, meaning The Shire have no right of appeal. Rule 39.1 (b) of the SFA's handbook states: "Where a club is found to have named within an official team line a player who is not eligible to participate in the relevant match in the competition pursuant to the registration procedures and/or the disciplinary procedures, then such club will be ejected from the competition. "Neither the board nor the secretary shall be entitled to waive or modify the application of this rule in any circumstances."

Are you sure? On the stv news it stated that it would be held at Castle Stuart for 3 years. Just had a wee check and appears your quite right OCG,I understood the Rennaisance was a done deal for next year but appears the course still has 3 holes the powers that be are non too happy with and the Open being at Muirfield just over the fence in 2013 means it will indeed be held up here for 3 years.Absolutely brilliant news for the area and reward for the investment put into building of Castle Stuart and doing it right,it Will make a brilliant venue for the Scottish Open and showcase the whole area to a massive audience.

She had obviously had this ladies explanation so was able to judge correctly ..... You're in a shoe shop, second in the queue for the till. Behind the shop assistant on the till is a pair of shoes which you have seen and which you must have. The female shopper in front of you has seen them also and is eyeing them with desire. Both of you have forgotten your purses. It would be rude to push in front of the first woman if you had no money to pay for the shoes. The shop assistant remains at the till waiting. Your friend is trying on another pair of shoes at the back of the shop and sees your dilemma. She prepares to throw her purse to you. If she does so, you can catch the purse, then walk round the other shopper and buy the shoes! At a pinch she could throw the purse ahead of the other shopper and "whilst it is in flight" you could nip around the other shopper, catch the purse and buy the shoes! BUT, you must always remember that until the purse has "actually been thrown", it would be plain wrong for you to be in front of the other shopper and you would be OFFSIDE!
