  1. We were practically neebors Davie,I lived in the flat above the carpet shop at the corner of Ure Street looking on to the Hackie and attended Hawkhill primary, now renamed Blackness by heathens on the cooncil!! First pint in the Sinderins bar and chips oot of Bennadetti's all sadly long gone, anyways, ah the best whoever ya choose to follow ,good to see a bit of real humour and banter
  2. Davie, dear Davie, ye lived in my hoose But ye really must ken that yer telling half truths, for eh died wa'h back in 1902 yer team wisnae born then, the Hibs?eh say who? If eh was still aboot in this day and age, without doubt tis the Dee i'd support and engage for tragedy was meh forte ye'll ken and there's plenty oh prose ower at Dens for meh pen Yer correct wi the Gellions ,a cracking wee haunt, eh went there wi meh pals,to inspire, no to taunt, for the teuchters were gents who loved humour and thinking, but way oot in front was their talent for drinking. Eh'll end this wee ditty wi meh thought for the day Cheenge teams?support Caley? Eh'm sorry, no way, for much as eh like that fine team by the sea There's only one team, for me, thats the Dee! With apologies to William Topaz McGonnagal
  3. Ahem...... http://www.statto.com/football/stats/scotland/division-one/2010-2011/form-table/full We're top oh the league and we're no.... :tears: ...and to keep the thread on topic, i'd be Dee-lighted to come along for a day oot to Hampden if ICT get there
  4. Frustrating, but he just doesn't seem able to close out the crucial shots, the amount of unnecessary errors when easy winners were on was disappointing, still, onwards and upwards, hopefully if he keeps knocking........
  5. DEE'S LEGEND MACALPINE!!!!!! Only for the amount of abuse he used to take ( very well I may add) great character but Arab *******',and yes his lad won at Nairn
  6. Charles qoute fae other thread..."My main problem with golf, apart perhaps from some of the fashions they wear, is Colin Montgomerie since it goes against the grain to see a lot of money being made out of playing a sport by someone who is - in a word - fat." I don't quite get your ire against Monty for being fat, overweight,I can understand not liking him because he is arrogant, self centered or boorish, but think this may just be a PR thing and he just comes across poorly, as everyone i know who has spoken to him say he is a top guy in real life. That apart, there is no doubting his huge talent and skill at a sport where surely, there is no question about the skill level required to hit a ball several hundred yards into the smallest of targets and also stamina levels and mental toughness required to focus and compete for 5 hours a day,4 days in a row. Will you be going along to spectate yourself Charles? you really should give it a go, you might just enjoy it,and if you get the bug and fancy a wee shot, gie's a shout and i'll take you out for a knock, and won't wear meh tartan breeks
  7. i'll take this conversation across onto the golf thread to save dragging this one off topic.........
  8. Charles,Ehm interested to hear yer take on the Scotish Open (golf) being hosted locally. You have never hidden yer disdain for the Royal and Ancient game and it's participants but surely you must be supportive of the obvious benefits to the area, and will you be brushing up on the rules to run a wee column in the Highland News
  9. Ach,Dundonians are used to Perth folk trying to take credit for our endeavours! Sorry, is that teuchtarist?
  10. Fookin excellant, fingers crossed for Sunday that he can finally get over the line
  11. I presume it goes back to Caley being referred to as "the Rangers of the north"
  12. I was thinking along those lines too until I noticed the killer line in the newspaper - all the teams have access to an extranet where they could check that the players have been registered. So the "it was in the post, honest" line was no longer a reasonable excuse. If they had made a minimal effort they could have seen for themselves if the registration was acknowledged and if not, contacted the SFA to check. Victims of their own ineptitude really. Ach , i know, and just reading this, the SFA are quite right in nailing these things down, just wish they had this clarity, decisiveness and continuity of punishments in all areas ,still gotta feel sorry for wee teams who's administrative staff are probably part time and doing there best......... Competition rules were recently modified by the SFA after Dunfermline Athletic were expelled then subsequently reinstated to the competition last season, meaning The Shire have no right of appeal. Rule 39.1 (b) of the SFA's handbook states: "Where a club is found to have named within an official team line a player who is not eligible to participate in the relevant match in the competition pursuant to the registration procedures and/or the disciplinary procedures, then such club will be ejected from the competition. "Neither the board nor the secretary shall be entitled to waive or modify the application of this rule in any circumstances."
  13.
  14. Good to see a highland league team still in but shame for East Stirling who IMO have been pretty harshly treated. East Stirling oot the cup
  15. Apparently this coming to light was the final straw........ Just tuck this in love Withchunt springs to mind
  16. Don't agree OCG, both the loose women wifies and TV pundits are employed to "entertain", an element of banter and humour is essential in both or the whole viewing experience would become sterile and controlled Just watching breaking news that Andy Gray has been sacked....madness,complete madness
  17. I,m booking my seat on the offered bus the next time I hear those harpies on loose women start talking about "manflu" and suggesting us poor fellows are unable to multitask. :irritated: The world's lost it's sense of..........well, everything really
  18. Are you sure? On the stv news it stated that it would be held at Castle Stuart for 3 years. Just had a wee check and appears your quite right OCG,I understood the Rennaisance was a done deal for next year but appears the course still has 3 holes the powers that be are non too happy with and the Open being at Muirfield just over the fence in 2013 means it will indeed be held up here for 3 years.Absolutely brilliant news for the area and reward for the investment put into building of Castle Stuart and doing it right,it Will make a brilliant venue for the Scottish Open and showcase the whole area to a massive audience.
  19. She had obviously had this ladies explanation so was able to judge correctly ..... You're in a shoe shop, second in the queue for the till. Behind the shop assistant on the till is a pair of shoes which you have seen and which you must have. The female shopper in front of you has seen them also and is eyeing them with desire. Both of you have forgotten your purses. It would be rude to push in front of the first woman if you had no money to pay for the shoes. The shop assistant remains at the till waiting. Your friend is trying on another pair of shoes at the back of the shop and sees your dilemma. She prepares to throw her purse to you. If she does so, you can catch the purse, then walk round the other shopper and buy the shoes! At a pinch she could throw the purse ahead of the other shopper and "whilst it is in flight" you could nip around the other shopper, catch the purse and buy the shoes! BUT, you must always remember that until the purse has "actually been thrown", it would be plain wrong for you to be in front of the other shopper and you would be OFFSIDE!
