  1. Yeah that is true, but how many medals were won for nations those winners were not born in. Just like football these days, or did team gb set a trend with Zola Budd.

  3. Very positive start. Hearts are having to concentrate on yoof, and were no pushovers last season
  4. believe it was 13 medals Jock, 7 gold, of which several were part of a team, ie rowing, cycling. Mhairi Spence, the only "local" from Inverness was down about 15th or so in the Modern Pentathlon, but she is the current World Champion. Overall I think the games were a success, but at what cost to the country.....tourism down huge amounts outwith London, economy will have suffered greatly, but we are being told we must all feel good about ourselves....huh, dont quite get that. One abiding memory for me, apart from all of the Scottish successes, was the Welsh girl winning the martial arts gold and then running round the stadium with the welsh flag aswell as the union flag.

  6. to be fair he had been on the verge of the squad, and had been mentioned by the press and Hearts managers last season. Playing in the third division dont make him a poor player overnight, just like he didnt become a good player overnight. Pleased for Blackie, sponsered him when he was here at ICT. Dont see Levein picking him in the WC qualifiers really, but time will tell, and a better player than some of the others some have said should have been called up instead. What would be the case if everyone says they aint good enough for Scotland and only play in bottom tier, but win the League cup or Scots cup this season? I can imagine the ruptions in the SPL and SFA.
  7. OTJ had all his weight on that right standing foot and ankle, having just had a nightmare season with injuries, I can understand OTJ instant reaction. Should have maybe been a sending off for both players, as it was a reckless and dangerous tackle. Next time just bide your time OTJ and get him back the same way, as refs dont book players for dangerous tackles, only deal with the reactions!!!
  8. Also to use Belfast and Dublin may not be a good example, with all NI mail and parcels going across a troubled border with a history of parcel bombs and letter bombs not being the best to chose. At the end of the day, the amount of business crossing the imaginary border between England and Scotland will continue to be high. Cant think why businesses on either side of the border will stop trading with each other. Does make you wonder why London want to hold on to us so much if they continually bang on about how much we cost them, l dont think it could be because we could run our country better without them. Many English and Welsh are already moving north. And I know many Scots living in England and Wales who would want to move back to Scotland if it was independent. And many would possibly want to get out if they are pro unionists, and we would not want to stop them

  14. Why the scaremongering any way, If the Royal Mail is sold off and the business of sending letters, and goods to each other ends, then its the same for everyone. Think of all your competitors in England and Wales who are slashing their wrists right now as all they can think off is this air mail fee they will have to pay for their books to be sent over the border. Time to dominate the scottish market my dear man, concentrate on the opportunities that no Royal Mail will deliver ( no pun intended ). Independence may be the pot of gold you have been waiting on. If it were to ever happen, it will create countless opportunities for people living in Scotland, as all those British companies based elsewhere in the UK will just not have a business or any trade left in Scotland, you could be the new big fish. I can just see it, your new book, Scamazon - how I made my millions, by Laurence

  16. Laurence, I dont really think that being part of the union will have any relevance on whether the London government will decide to stop the privitisation plans. Problem for the Royal Mail is the success of its competition, one of which we are using to communicate. With the advancement of mobiles, text and e-mails, it has long signaled the beginning of the end for this old landmark institution, much much more than some peoples dream of independence.

So she should be f***ing proud, she just beat Vicky Pendleton. The Team GB athlete who didnt qualify for some track event was heard going F..k S..t f..k s..t f..k s..t about ten times and then repeated it as he past the qualifier being interviewed as well.

  20. post stuff abroad and to england and local adresses. Find they arrive on the same day usually, especially Danish and Scandanavian countries similar to Scotland, and it doesnt go by airmail. Post with the Royal Mail to Inverness is crap, used to work for a national company, and post from London and Edinburgh and Dundee to Inverness always took a day longer than to the rest of my team based around the Highlands. Maybe it will be a good thing Royal Mail, UPS or German Post may be better. Never heard complaints about German Post and have relatives in Germany and Denmark.

    Gold

Scolympians at this Team GB thing in Englandshire have contributed into double figures of the gold medals. Funny how sport breaks down barriers, a lot of the sports people who train in England also represent other nations. Why do we seem to think that this would change if we seperate from the union. Will we chuck out all the "foreigners" that we have here in Scotland - I think not, and if they are born in Scotland the majority would represent Scotland. Think people completely underestimate what passion people have in being Scottish, as I rarely hear anyone Scottish who will ever call themselves British, unless they go to Castle Greyskull with the other Orcs.
