Mixed views on this. Savage has caused ructions and board room division the last time he was involved and DM was at the helm when we built up almost three million pounds in debt and the bank were about to pull the plug before DS stepped in. That said, hopefully, we all learn from our mistakes and they will both be a more positive influence this time around.

They will change it when they get round to announcing the pre season friendly with Clach.
-
I know that communication from the club has been poor of late but surely that high profile friendly should have been better advertised.

Robbo has posted on this site in the past and I am sure still visits it. There would always be constraints on what and how much he could say but a weekly one hour question and answer session on here alternating on a weekly basis between the manager and a designated board member would cost nothing in terms of resources, go towards clearing up misunderstanding and ambiguity and generate much needed rapport and goodwill between club and fans.

If the club had been straightforward and honest at the end of last season and told us that the financial position was so bad that we would have to shed virtually every established first team player and recruit replacements from the bargain basement we would have been shocked and disappointed but would all have united behind the club as football fans have a tendency to do even in the knowledge that a rapid return to the Premiership was most unlikely. Instead, there was no such transparency and season tickets were effectively sold on false pretences, many other promises have been made and then broken and now the reason for and circumstances of the departure of our remaining most influential player is been spun by the club in an entirely disingenuous manner. A disgraceful way to run any business let alone a football club that was once much admired but is now, quite justifiably, the subject of scorn and ridicule.
-
Don't worry in a few days time, once they are compelled to by the truth emerging, the club will issue a second statement correcting the original and containing a full but wholly insincere apology. Haven't you noticed? It's the way we operate these days.

The sad and hugely embarrassing fact is that the club representing by far the largest centre of population in the Highlands is being out performed and eclipsed, who's in who's shadows now, in every single aspect of running a professional football club both on and off the pitch by a club based in what is little more than a large village on our doorstep. A shocking and unacceptable state of affairs. Those who ought to be custodians of our club have let down we the fans and are continuing to let down we the fans very badly indeed.
-
What experience does he have of managing any business with a seven figure turnover ? A real wasted opportunity to bring in fresh blood and badly needed new ideas, come to think of It, any reasonable ideas at all.
-
Things are bad and disappointing but not that bad. The Rangers, beaten by a team of part timers from Luxembourg, are still the official laughing stock of Scottish football and still will be for many years to come.
-
You can bet that if it was 200k plus the board would have been only too happy to disclose it.
-
Clearly, we have no realistic ambition to return to the Premiership any time soon.
-
That has been the rumour for weeks now. Hoping that it has no more substance in fact than it has had for those past few weeks.
-
Surely he's worth at least £250
-
If true that says a great deal about the ambition, or lack of it, of the current regime. Content now to linger in the Championships rather than seriously contend for promotion. That said, I am hoping that this is merely another unfounded rumour.

I thought that there was much to be positive about. The performance, by and large was much better than we witnessed in most of the Betfred Cup group stage matches and Vigurs had one of his best and most positive performances for the club. Don't forget this was against the best resourced club in the division and firm favourites for the title. We had the bulk of possession and played the better football almost from start to finish but, as others have said, need more penetration in the final third but the forwards are new to the club and new to each other so hopefully that will develop and improve in the coming weeks. There is no doubt that we need more width and there is equally no doubt that Polworth is not the player to provide that width. He has the potential to be a strong positive for the team when played in his proper position but is frankly a liability when not. I am sure, however, that Robbo can't fail to see that and this experiment will not last long. Finally, if that is going to be the standard of refereeing we are going to be seeing this season then god help us.

Much better for us than him just being 90% suspended.

Extraordinary General Meeting - 3rd August.
Kingsmills replied to Charles Bannerman's topic in Caley Thistle
There is more change of the club being able to issue a coherent, sensible and timely statement than being able to enter a team in the Highland League. -

Personally, I think that us wanting to have a colt team in the Highland League smacks of the same sort of arrogance as the Ugly Sisters wanting to have colt teams in the Championship. -

I agree. This appointment lacks imagination and is a wasted opportunity. Danny MacDonald is a football man who has had mixed success previously at the club. The fact is that, the last couple of seasons apart, we have been pretty good at the football side of things given our resources and, in the likes of Robbo, Charlie Christie and Brian Rice, there are a number at the club with a footballing background, football connections and football knowledge. Where we have been very very poor ever since entering the league is on the marketing and commercial side whether that be in selling tickets and enthusing and engaging the Inverness public or in shifting merchandise and raising the profile of the club in a manner that generates income. There was an opportunity in creating the new post of general manager to bring in a fresh face with fresh ideas from a marketing and commercial background and try something new. Instead we appoint a familiar face who brings nothing new to the club. Very disappointing but not in the least surprising. -
Sad but true. Didn't take him long last time. That's not a criticism of Robbo in particular. The Hearts job will pay three times as much as ours and he will have a much higher profile and player budget.
-
Can't see it to be honest. They will want someone with more recent managerial experience.
-
The communication from the club at the moment is about as organised and about as reliable as that from Donald Trump's West Wing.

With the harsh economic reality of relegation, it's beyond doubt that we needed to slash the wage bill to secure the financial future of the club and many of the highest earners had to go. However, fiscal prudence has to be balanced with retaining some ambition to get back to the top tier. Since the turn of the season, we have shed the substantial salaries of Tansey, Meekings, McNaughton, Boden and Anier all of whom were, by all accounts, on salaries of or approaching six figures. We will also lose the expense of OFW's salary as son as his agent can secure him a contract elsewhere. In addition, we are no longer making a contribution to the income of our loanees King and McKay which would also have been a very tidy sum. By any standards, our cost base has been slashed and probably inevitably so and, personally, I have no difficulty with that. That said, if we are going to have any realistic hope of promotion we need to retain some quality. There are some very decent teams in this division and, if we are to challenge towards the top, we need to be able to match them. In order to do so, we need players of the quality and experience of Raven. Warren and Draper in the team. Whether these individuals are still with us come the end of the transfer window will say a lot about whether our board are ambitious or not.
-
We missed the commanding influence of Warren at the back. After these matches, I am increasingly of the view that we need to retain both him and Draper if we are to have any realistic prospect of promotion this season.
