  1. A bully and an absolute dinosaur who's techniques and attitudes are years out of date. Anyway, we couldn't afford to keep him in sun bed sessions. No thanks. We need to look forward not backwards and Calderwood would be a huge leap backwards and into the footballing past.
  2. Great shame. Played regularly, there's little doubt that he would have been a regular scorer in the Championship.
  3. McFadden's record in coaching is not too dissimilar to John Robertson's when he came here and he didn't do so badly when it came to getting us promoted to the top tier.
  4. The decision to part company with the manager was, in the end, the entirely correct one. However, when it comes to the recruitment and retention of players, the timing could be a disaster. Who wants to join, or, for that matter, stay aboard a rudderless ship ? There are many things, such as geographical location, modest crowds and limited finance that we can't control but it would help if we could be more proactive when it comes to thinking ahead and forward planning. We seem to have been entirely reactive of late with even that reaction often being too far delayed.
  5. In this world of global connectivity, that is no reason at all to delay getting on with the decision that is so vital to the club's future.
  6. Assuming that his salary demand was reasonable, I would be very happy with Malpas replacing Brian Rice as assistant, his track record as an assistant or as a senior coach is good but never please in the role of manager or DofF. His track record when managing in his own right is abysmal.
  7. I would take anything that the Aberdeen obsessed Press & Journal print about us with a pinch of salt. Their track record of accuracy on matters ICT is hardly glowing. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they simply lifted the speculation from this site.
  8. I wouldn't be deterred from Gus McPherson by his one poor season with Queen of the South when placed against his several successful seasons at St Mirren including getting them out of the division we will be in next season and consistently keeping them in the top tier thereafter on a limited budget and also the success he's had with the amateurs at Queens Park. Similarly, I would not be deterrred from Paul Hartley by one poor season with Dundee set against his success at Dens prior to that and, before that, what he managed on a tiny budget at Alloa.
  9. We may not yet have a managerial short list but, even as early as May, that must be on the shortlist for worst post of the year !
  10. I would rather have Bamber Gascoigne !
  11. We have just parted company with a manager who very much wanted to manage ICT. That's not the be all and end all. Ability and enthusiasm for the task while they are here are much more important.
  12. If we decided to go for a relatively experienced manager, I would be happy with Paul Hartley. I know he had one poor season with Dundee but he has a very good track record and has experience of the division and, more to the point, has had success in being promoted out of it. If we are looking at someone less experienced, for me it would be Darren Dods. He knows the club and the area and has Brechin playing football which is both successful and, by all accounts, attractive on a very limited budget. If we were going slightly left field, then Paul Telfer may well be worth a punt.
  13. A great shame for Richie who will, without doubt, always be fondly remembered by ICT fans for the stalwart work and commitment he showed as a player but it clearly wasn't working out as manager and was showing no sign of doing so, so it was the right decision albeit a sad and difficult one. Congratulations to the new regime for having the courage to take this decision rather continuing with the damaging uncertainty and disunity. Now that the decision has been made can we please all reunite and get fully behind the new management team whoever they may be. As far as Richie is concerned, if he has walked then credit to him and shows him to be the man we thought he was rather than the man he was risking becoming. Sincere and heartfelt good wishes to him and his young family whatever the future may hold for them. Let the next chapter in our short but glorious story begin.
  14. In that case, we should be on the threshold of yet another dream
  15. Foran has proved to be a disappointment as a manager, his public pronouncements are ill judged to say the least and he is showing no signs of recognising his short comings or addressing them. I think the core of the squad we are likely to retain are good enough to challenge for promotion back to the Premiership but I don't think that Foran has what it takes to lead us there. On that basis, I am reluctantly of the view that Foran should go. However, whether he is retained or let go, that decision has to be made in the next few days. The current uncertainty cannot drag on any longer. If he is to be retained for next season then the board should say so definitively. If not, he needs to be gone by Friday so that a new manager can start preparing for the coming season as soon as possible.
  16. I don't support any regime. I support the club.
  17. We were never in the Highland League.
  18. He doesn't even set Mrs Malpas's pulse racing with excitement.......
  19. There may be cost implications but bringing in a general manager with fresh blood and new and innovative ideas might well be money well spent. Just don't let it be another Mike Smith !
  20. That article could only have been written by one of Yogi's many cronies in the central belt media. It didn't take him long to lose the dressing room at Starks Park with his public criticism of the players and also the confidence of their chair who has openly stated that he made a huge error in appointing him. Whatever the answer is, it isn't the return of John Hughes.
  21. Quite a wish list. Personally, I can continue to live with all of that for now and concentrate on having a capable manager and a confident and united team capable of challenging for promotion back to the Premiership.
  22. You have the advantage over me. I don't have a quich through which to search :-)
  23. Congratulations on what must be the first use of the word 'vituperative' in the twenty three year history of CTO :-)
  24. The new chair has no time to settle in. He has a very big decision to preside over in the next couple of days.
  25. I agree. We need clarity and we need it this week.
