  1. Excellent news on OFW and, as has been said, a wee bit extra cash from his involvement in the Euros. David Raven next please.
  2. Possibly but the first bit of business we need to do this close season is a two year deal for David Raven and I see no reason to wait for a new manager to be in place to get that done.
  3. What would he do with the change ?
  4. Yes, thousands of fans of the old Rangers invaded the pitch in Barcelona not just after but during their 1972 Cup Winners Cup final victory over Moscow Dynamo. I see from the statement issued by the new Rangers that their fans only entered the pitch to gallantly defend their poor players and officials who were 'under attack'..Thank goodness that they have put that record straight....
  5. Personally, I do think that clubs have to bear some responsibility for the action of their fans but agree a European ban is inappropriate. I would withhold the share of the cup final proceeds for both teams, one for the pitch invasion, the other for the constant sectarian singing and distribute it to clubs promoting football at the grass roots. The Rangers are 'demanding' an independent enquiry. I would be quite content with that as long as it had the remit to investigate all aspects of Saturday's final.
  6. All have been round the course before with varying degrees of success, My preference would be someone new to managing in the top flight if not necessarily new to management per se.
  7. To be fair, I don't think that very many ICT fans give two hoots about the manager's background as long as they do well for us and are loyal to our club. Whatever the issues were with Terry Bucher and with John Hughes had absolutely nothing to do with their previous associations with Rangers and Celtic respectively. We need to appoint the right man for our particular job whatever his background.
  8. No way the The Rangers fans would have stayed to see Hibs lift the cup under any circumstances I don't know if you've noticed but they don't tend to be the most gracious and sporting individuals in the world. There is a difference between running on the pitch when securing promotion or escaping relegation or winning a lower league title from winning a national cup competition. The former is an established and accepted norm. The latter is sheer hooliganism, We kept of the pitch last year because we knew it was the right thing to do as did St Johnstone the year before despite being absolutely euphoric about winning the tournament for the very first time, In fact no winning fans have been on the cup final pitch since the disgraceful pitched battle of 1980 which led to fans at our major grounds being fenced in. Those Hibs fans were every bit at moronic as the fans of their opposition who spent the entire match singing about events in seventeenth century Ireland. Apart from anything else they spoiled the celebrations of their fellow supporters and allowed very negative images of Scotland and Scottish supporters to be portrayed around the world.

If only he had landed the Celtic job his joy would have been complete....
  10. Can we now finish with the personal remarks and get back on topic please ?
  11. That is one of the negative sides I was alluding to. However, the other McCall in the frame is of a similar mind.
  12. and not a single adverse comment from anyone on BBC Scotland about the constant illegal sectarian singing, that in itself is a disgrace on the part of the national public service broadcaster. I heard Stewart Doncaster being interviewed on the radio laying the blame for the pitch invasion on the Hampden authorities. It is an SFA competition and, in my view, the ultimate responsibility for any shortcomings lie with them but, of course, the SFA blazers never take responsibility for anything.
  13. I appreciate that he is, for good reason, not the most universally popular character but I wouldn't be unhappy with Ian McCall. A decent manager who will be motivated by having something left to prove at Premiership level.
  14. I have to say that that is my concern about McCall especially as rebuilding will be his first major task with us.
  15. Very tough luck on Palace. Denied one certain goal and possibly a second by two rank terrible refereeing decisions.
  16. Good to hear from you again old fellow...
  17. A concern with McCall is that whilst he did well taking over a settled squad at Motherwell and improved them for a couple of years when that team began to break up many of the players he recruited to replace them were of mediocre quality and as a consequence the Motherwell team that was largely his only narrowly escaped relegation last year. As one of the first major tasks of our new manager will be player identification and recruitment that would be a worry for me,
  18. Why on earth would we take a risk on an experienced player with no management or coaching experience who knows nothing about the club ? If we were going to go down that route we have our own experienced player with no management and little coaching experience who knows a great deal about the club,
  19. Disgraceful scenes at Hampden. Such a contrast to the brilliant but dignified celebrations last year, A very substantial fine for Hibs and the same for dusting off the sectarian song book the The Rangers fans clearly inherited from Rangers. The latter may bring some additional income to the Premiership next season but the league will still be much the poorer for their presence. The moronic Hibs fans should be deprived of their trophy celebration which should now be presented in private at a later date.
  20. A different approach to either of the games against a Hibs side on a dreadful run of form and it could well have been us again...
  21. For next year's Eurovision ?

Welcome to the forum. I hope you will stick around and contribute throughout the coming season and beyond.

One thing that has been instrumental in driving our club forward from the very start from the Highland League to European football is the innate sense of what we rightly call togetherNESS. That has sadly been lacking just recently and if our club is going to continue to progress, as I believe we still can, that has to be recovered from the Boardroom down. This is an opportunity for a fresh start and to recover the essence of what makes our wonderful club unique. Time now for the directors to play their part by being a bit more open and informative and for everyone with the interests of the club to get behind them, the new management team whoever they may be and most importantly the team.
  24. and some of us haven't had breakfast yet.
  25. Hard to disagree.
