Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe that the club have said anything about Brian Rice being Richie's assistant. This may be a non issue.

Would there be merit in keeping Rice on the coaching staff but bringing in another assistant manager ? I appreciate that might, however, be a financial strain.

Contract Situation
Confirmation today that OFW is in the final Wales squad for the Euros. Congratulations to him and a nice wee financial boost for the club.

Yogi
I doubt that he specifically had the Hibs job in mind and I doubt even more whether he will get it but he had been acting in his own self interests rather than the interests of the club for a rather long time.

For goodness sake, the ink on his contract is hardly dry. Give the man a chance.

Prefer the ring of Richie Foran's Blue, Red and Black Army myself

I doubt very much that Hibs would reemploy a manager they parted company with only half a dozen years ago for dragging them into the downward spiral they are only now emerging from.

....and that goes for the Thistle part of the team too....

It would be interesting to know whether that is true, I would be pleased if it was.

Maybe Martin Dowden should have viewed this forum before penning that misjudged article just to see how positively and enthusiastically the fans have greeted Richie's appointment. We certainly don't regard him as a second rate or cheap option. Maybe something for Richie to pin on hid office wall for inspiration.

He has also been able to witness what both the previous managers have done at first hand so he ought to be in a position to utilise the good things they each brought to the role, recognise and avoid the errors they both made while putting his own stamp on things at the same time.

All new managers have to gain experience somewhere and what better place for Richie to gain his with a club he knows well, with directors, players, backroom staff and fans he knows well and in a part of the world where he and his family are happy and well settled.

Time to put recent divisions behind us and for everyone to get behind the new manager. Well done Richie and god luck.

Bear in mind the story is in the Daily Record so is unlikely to have any substance to it....The 'newspaper, that once described a certain Craig Whyte as 'a billionaire with wealth of the scale'. Keith Jackson is to journalism what Charles Bannerman is to tact and diplomacy....

Where are the goals coming from?
Now that we are not likely to be so obsessed with ball retention and trying to score the perfect goal by passing the ball into the net I am very hopeful that goals will be easier to come by next season. The players have shown what they are capable of on the all to rare occasions they have been let of the leash and if we can add an experienced forward then I'm sure goals aplenty will come.

David Raven
Can I confess something ? I am truly delighted that Dave is staying with us for at least two more seasons but if it had been a choice between that and winning ten million quid on the Lottery, well...............

I sincerely hope we are not looking at appointing Maurice Malpas as manager.. Leaving aside his rejection of the offer last time it was made whilst making very disparaging remarks about the club, his record as a manager in his own right is very poor indeed. I am sure we can do better than that. Malpas as an experienced assistant to Richie Foran might, however, prove a decent combination.

Ex-ICT players in management
Iain Stewart was a strange one. Took Peterhead to within a minute of promotion to the second tier for the only time in their history in a play off final against Partick Thistle. Had them playing exciting and attractive football yet was sacked and then fell off the radar.

Contract Situation
Then they will very shortly be contracts rather than pre contracts.

Contract Situation
The mix of one, two and three year deals is surely the way to go together with more effective efforts to extend contracts well before they expire. We can't afford to have so many of the first team squad out of contract at the same time again.

Contract Situation
Maybe he's assuming Foran will be in the dugout....

DEAN BRILL
That and the fact that if we are going to be able to afford an experienced forward, we don't have the luxury of being in a financial position to retain all three.
