Pass that round please, sounds like good stuff....
  2. Aye, more goals in one match than we've scored all season.
  3. I suspect because the manager wishes to give the impression, to put pressure on the board to loosen the purse strings, that we are short of players.
  4. A few of us do quite rate the Scottish League and that is a good shout but a transfer fee would be required which we are unlikely to pay.
  5. Given that we have no proper forwards in the first team squad, wee could certainly do worse.
  6. What makes you so sure no bids have been made ? Our club seldom conducts it's business in public.
  7. Good for Andy and when his football career comes to an end he will be well qualified for a seat in the House of Lords....
  8. I will save Sneckboy the trouble and point out that that is not quite true. We have won the North of Scotland Cup four times and on each occasion have had the opportunity to defend the trophy.
  9. That is exactly why the club needs to address the issue NOW and not at the end of the year. If we allow Ryan to go in the Jan window under a pre-contract, our board should resign. A bit harsh considering they are the board who have kept us in the black at the same time as overseeing the most successful period on the field in our history.
  10. There are two basic reasons why teams like Dundee United command much higher fees than we do for promising young players. Firstly, they have the confidence and foresight to put them on three or four year contracts and secondly, and just as crucially, they have developed a reputation for being shrewd negotiators who will not be sold short or taken advantage of. We, on the other hand, up until now, have a reputation of being naïve soft touches who will wet ourselves with excitement at the prospect of a few hundred thousand pounds for our best players. Whether he goes now or later, Ryan represents a great opportunity to change that perception. Such is the money in the English Premiership just now that any team that truly rates him even as a prospect for the future ought to be paying at least two and a half times the figure of £600,000 being bandied about. We have been a top tier club, with a one season blip, for a decade now. High time we started conducting ourselves like one when it comes to these sort of negotiations.
  11. The best outcome for both club and player is for Ryan to continue his development at the club by signing a two year extention to his contract and to stay for at least another year before moving on to an English Premiership club for three million pounds plus add ons and a sell on percentage. If that means making him the highest paid player on the books so be it. A perfect opportunity for the club to speculate to accumulate. Win win for both club and player.
  12. If he is not an out and out striker and has a fairly poor goal scoring record we will almost certainly offer him a contract......
  13. Five competitive games, the majority of possession in all five, one single goal. Not a single experienced forward on the books, not a single out and out striker recruited over the Summer. I know funds are tight but apparently we have emergency funds, the requirement for at least one player capable of putting the ball in the net on a regular basis is surely an emergency......
  14. Please refrain from personal insults.
  15. A concern that the contracts of virtually all our first team squad expire on the same day.
  16. To lose a late late equaliser was, of course, disappointing but surely the main thing to take from the game was that we were so much better than in our opening league game and actually demonstrated some attacking intent, scored a goal and looked as though we were capable of scoring more in contrast to the Motherwell game when we looked like we could play all day without threatening to ripple the net.
  17. Personally, I am not concerned by the history between the player and the club and fans. Vigurs, when he applies himself, is a decent player and will be an asset. What does concern me is that we are using scarce 'emergency' funds to sign yet another midfielder when the emergency is that we still do not have an experienced out and out striker.
  18. Disgraceful post. Vigurs is a talented player with an poor attitude in the past and a bit of 'history' with ICT and our fans resulting in mixed views on whether we are wise to sign him. Evans is a disgusting convicted and, worse, unrepentant rapist who no right thinking fan would want within a million miles of this or any other club.
  19. (I know you don't want to get involved but i feel like I have to stick up for the league having previously worked as a reporter for it) I don't think you can really question the quality in the Highland League when the likes of Richie Brittain, Grant Munro, Ross Tokely, Gavin Morrison, Conor Gethins, Stuart Kettlewell, Paul Lawson, Garry Wood, Iain Vigurs (albeit on trial until he finds a club), Stuat Duff, Roy McBain, etc etc are all playing in it. Coming up against these, and other ex-pros, will do a lot more for the development of a young player than playing against other teenagers. Most of the players you listed are playing at that level as they are not really good enough any more. (Though I'm surprised Vigurs is around there, he could surely get a game in the Scottish championship at least) However technique aside, with the likes of Tokely, Munro, McBain, Brittain having "been there, and done that", they have a wealth of experience to pass on, even if they might not have the legs. The younger guys too have come through the system and would be able to help them avoid any of the pitfalls that can see a promising youth not life up to his talent. Indeed I think you would learn more coming up against seasoned ex full time pros that other trainees. Not a bad line up for a 'pub league'....
  20. Yes we got place money. Money from revenue from TV rights is distributed according to league position and is worth about £70,000 a place from memory.
  21. Whether the season results in disappointment may depend on your level of expectation. In my view, if we are still in the Premiership this time next year that will be a satisfactory season albeit far from a great one. That said, if we can run to it a proven forward must be a priorit.
  22. I honestly can't believe that some fans are actually defending the club if there are no further signings! We have gone without paying a transfer fee since 2008? It is amazing that Butcher & now Yogi have managed to achieve any sort of success with no financial support Last year was without doubt our most successful season and we also received our highest ever financial fee for a player (even if it was a pitiful £150,000) We are no longer paying the contracts for our club captain and 4 other first team players (inc. Mckay) Our attendances have always been what they are ... we have the unfortunate situation that Inverness doesn't keep a high number of young adults between 17 - 30 and I suspect this is the normal demographic for regular attendees for other clubs round the SPFL. The players signed this season haven't been playing at a high enough standard to demand wages that would even hit the sides of the players wages that left. IHE's spot on ... the club needs to explain to the fans why they are not backing Yogi if no more players come in to help him out While I agree with much of what you say, the club does need to be financially prudent and remember that without windfalls such as cup finals and transfer fees we tend to have an annual trading loss in the region of £300,000 which is not sustainable year after year. The first responsibility of the board is to ensure that we have a viable business going forward. That said, we have had two extraordinary years in succession from a financial point of view with a cup final in each year, compensation for our management team last year and a substantial transfer fee this even if it wasn't, as you wrongly say a record for the club, that was the fee of over twice as much we received for Marius Niculae. We also pocketed more in the way of place money than budgeted for and shown a profit on our European adventure albeit a very modest one. Taking all that into account, I am sure the board can loosen the purse strings just a bit and, in my view they should.
  23. Maybe so but we have up to a hundred thousand potential fans living within relatively easy travelling distance. I know the club are working on it but it's not unreasonable to attract 4,000 'locals' on a regular basis with those of us who travel a bit further and opposition fans on top. It was disappointing to see few if any of the additional fans who travelled to Glasgow in May turning out for the first home league game of the season.
  24. I see no melt down just concerned fans expressing legitimate concerns in generally moderate terms.
