How many other top six managers have overseen such a rapid decline in their team's fortunes ?

    That is indeed the case.

I couldn't fathom why he was appointed in the first place. He has an utterly uninspiring CV and, in my view is unconvincing in what he says and is certainly unconvincing in what he's done. However, the fact is, like it or not, he was given a two and a year contract very recently and I believe that, having backed their man,the board now have a moral obligation, to give him at least next season to try to prove himself.

I am not in the sack Hughes camp but, when my mind turns to next season, I no longer wonder whether we can reach finals and semi finals or who we might pip in the league for a place in Europe. Instead, I find myself wondering which two teams might finish below us in the league. Am I disappointed ? Yes. Am I surprised ? No. It's what I resigned myself to when he was appointed. Personally, I have put my ambitions for the team above avoiding relegation on hold for just now. That way, the pain is easier to bear.
  6. Does one now require coaching badges to offer an opinion ?

The worry is that throughout Yogi's managerial history there is no indication that he ever learns from his mistakes. Time will tell but, right now, it's not looking good. If we can take a point from each of our next two games I'll be relieved.
  8. I agree. I thought Meekings was a merited red card under the rules as they stand.
  9. Would you suggest that those of us who are alarmed at just how quickly things have gone downhill in the last few months pretend to be happy or would you be satisfied if we merely kept quiet and left the forum to the happy clappers ?
  10. See our badge clear as day.

The players were doing what they were instructed to do under Butcher. The players are doing what they are instructed to do under Hughes. Can't see how they can be faulted as individuals for that.

Yip. Says most of what needs to be said.
  13. The John Hughes book of football cliches.
  14. Still think that lad has the potential to be a decent player.
  15. I wonder just how many of these preventable goals we are going to lose before the penny finally drops...
  16. It is clearly what the team are being coached and instructed to do at the moment.
  17. The team is playing in the manner that every team ever managed by John Hughes has ever played and with much the same consequences. I suspect we can expect much the same for the rest of the season and for the whole of next. I do agree that fatigue is also a factor but, given the unlikelyhood of reaching the latter stages of cup competitions next year, that should not be an issue and results and performances in the league may not be quite so disappointing as the second half of this.
  18. Certainly can't fault your optimism.
  19. Ah well we were never going to get anything out of this after conceding the first goal. At least we scored for the second consecutive match. The challenge now is to hold off St Johnstone for the extra prize money for fifth place. It's been fun having the novelty of top six this season and last for which, despite the manner of their leaving, I'm grateful to TB and MM. Got a feeling that next season will be a different matter but, unless we are in dire relegation trouble, that might be an opportunity to bring on the likes of Christie an Polworth with an eye on two or three seasons time.
  20. A tad touchy...

now, now. Don't exaggerate. Nothing's more tedious than that. With the possible exception of Dougal and the merger..
  22. County did us a favour taking points off Aberdeen last night. Up to us to try to capitalise on that tonight.
  23. That's a bold suggestion.
  24. Like it, although, being the SPFL, they were probably there to stop people from preventing him from moving the goalposts.
