Can We Compete With Dundee?
Much will also depend on whether Barrowman can get the better of first division defenders. The move from the second division to the SPL was clearly a step too far. He might be a much more effective striker at this level. Nevertheless Dundee must be clear favourites. That might not be such a bad thing from ICT's point of view taking a bit of pressure of us.

Dundee Sign Leigh Griffiths
Dundee have today confirmed the signing of Leigh Griffiths from Livingston for ?125,000. They are also close to agreeing terms with Brian Kerr. Semms clear that they will be the strongest team in the first division next season and the favourites for the title. If we can stay on their coat tails we might just set up a home title decider for the final game of the season.

New Signings By Next Week
Ross Chisholm would be a very useful aquisition.

Lionel To Left Wing
Worth a try certainly. The further Lionel is away from our own penalty box the more comfortable I feel !

Setanta (merged)
with setanta going bustt in this country, is it more likey that Killie will also continue this chain and also go into administration. One more question... could we see a return on scottish premier league football on BBc one Scotland ? The BBC have made it fairly clear that they will not be bidding for the rights to live TV matches next season.

Does Anyone Actually....
With the money they are spending and their recent experience of life in division one Dundee are my favourites for promotion. However, we are retaining a core of seasoned professionals and if we add one or two others in key positions there's no reason why we can't be competing at or towards the top in which case there's alwaays the possibility of winning should Dundee slip up especially if their very many new players take time to gel.

Brian Kerr Offski?
Dundee have had a large injection of cash recently and are by a margin the richest club in the division. I can't see how we can be too critical of the board for not throwing money we don't have at a single player.

Crowds For Next Season
Apparently season ticket sales are not very far behind what they were this time last season which must bode well for the coming season's attendances.
-
Fixtures
Can't be unhappy with that. Money spinning home ties for both Boxing Day and New Year with a potential championship decider against Dundee on the last day of the season.

Wood and Vigurs (including assault charge)
Remember that these are only allegations at this stage and any posts which imply guilt will be deleted. Like anyone else charged with a criminal offence in this country Iain is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless or until proven otherwise.

If Butcher Was To Go
Maurice Malpas has a terrible record as a manager in his own right.
-
Setanta (merged)
Would be useful to know what our turnover was back in Division 1 days, because that's pretty much what its going to drop to. Around about 1.6 million as far as I recall.

Play For Your Club Game
Battling with Liverpool for the final promotion place. A little less than 2 hours to go.

Setanta (merged)
Falkirk reached the CIS Cup semi final last season together with the final of the Scottish Cup. That would have given them something in the order of ?800,000 above their budget as a result of which they are unlikely to br in quite such a precarious financial position as they were rumoured to be in mid way through the season.

Setanta (merged)
Worrying.... Not really considering we will be depending on Setanta for none of our income for at least the next year.

Crowds For Next Season
Last time we were in the first division our core support was no more than about 1,500 with the average being brought up towards the 2,000 mark by the Highland derbies and the capacity crowd for the final game of the season against St Johnstone. This time, assuming we are able to compete towards the top, I'd imagine a core of about 2,200 with an average in the region of 2,700 or so. I'm sure the club will be budgeting for no more than that if they ate being prudent.

Setanta (merged)
I too supect that ESPN are waiting in thw wings. As part of the Disney Corporation they are not short of a bob or two but they are as commercially ruthless as their parent company and will want to cherry pick what they perceive to be Setanta's most attractive assets. I'm far from convinced that will include the rights to the SPL.

Richie Foran May Stay
Couldnt agree more. :) :025: :025: ditto
-
Brian Kerr Offski?
No doubt that Dundee will be the team to beat in the first division next season.
-
Richie Foran May Stay
Off topic but our parachute payment should be safe as our contractual right to it is with the SPL rather than Setanta.
-
Wood and Vigurs (including assault charge)
Sorry not to be seeing both in our squad, rather than County's nect season. Especially so with Iain Vigurs.
-
Barrowman
For once I agree with WYNESS101. Topic moved.

Filipe Morais
Welcome to the reality of life back in the SFL !

Craig Brewster
I've no anomosity towards Craig Brewster, I too believe he did his very best. It's just that that best was hopelessly short of what is rquired of an SPL manager. I cannot, however, believe that anyone based on the evidence can seriously argue that we would have fared better had we retained his sevices. By the time he went we had gone eight consecutive games without a single point. The jury may be out on Terry Butcher's ability in the long term but the facts are that when he arrived he immediately stopped the rot. If we had taken even a single point from that disasterous eight game run we would still be in the SPL now. I still believe the thread is a wind up !
