The Best Spl Relegation Battle Ever?
With both Falkirk and Hamilton reviving after weeks of apparently terminal decline it's certainly " interesting" at the foot of the table. None of the feeble five are safe. A win against Hamilton next week would, however, go a very long way indeed towards securing our position.

A Crumb Of Comfort
We can maybe take some comfort from the fact that no club has ever been relegated from the 12 team SPL with as many points as we now have in the bag. Let's hope ICT don't make history this season !

The UK Qualifiers are back on for those wanting to assist ICT to a successive promotion.

Keys To Getting Points V St Mirren
Concentrate in defence for the full 90 minutes.

Southampton Fc Going Into Adminstration?
I don't agree with very much that the football authorities do these days but I do agree with the automatic deduction of points from clubs going into administration and thereby gaining an advantage over their competitors who actually try to do the decent thing and meet their obligations.

English Premiership.
Last night's game at Annfield was exciting right enough but I'm not sure about the quality. There was some rank bad defending on both sides.

Semi Final Between The Pars And Falkirk
While I'd normally support the Pars against Falkirk, this time around I wouldn't mind if the Bairns progressed. The prospect of a Hampden final might just disteact them from the bread and butter business of scrapping to remain in the SPL.

Pies Mmmmm.
Unfortunately, in the current economic climate the club are likely to go for the option that delivers greatest income rather than quality.

Team Fer The Methadome ?
How many squandered chances is it going to take for Butcher to accept that Imrie is not a forward and that his energy is much better employed from midfield ?

The Final Match Of The Season
Now that the post split fixtures have been announced and that our final game of the season is at home to Falkirk, there's a slightly perverse part of me hoping the relegation issue is still alive by then. Can you imagine the excitement and tension of the occasion if the drop to the first division was riding on 90 minutes of football at the TCS ? There would be a full house and huge media attention. The importance of the fixture would eclipse both our Scottish Cup semi finals and the promotion clincher against St Johnstone. I think it would be the greatest and most important match ever to be staged in the Highlands. On the other hand, the more rational and logical side of me tells me that it would be in the interests of all concerned for us to maintain at least the 4 point gap that currently exists between us and the Bairns so that the match becomes another largely meaningless end of season fixture with the greatest excitement being generated by the now traditional arrival of the Highland Marchers in the ground. Still, I can't get the thought of the prospect of the former scenario out of my mind.

Options If Of Move To England
I agree with Scotty. For that reason I'm disappointed that there is no greater chance of this actually happening that the dozen or so times this increasingly tedious story has surfaced in the past.

Where/who We Play After Split
Hopefully, we will be safe before the final fixture but, if not, we could have our record crowd for a home match not involving a member of the Old Firm.

The Feeble Five
Saturday's results have not altered my original view.

Setanta
The irony is that in the course of negotiating the new deal the SPL rejected an offer from SKY which wasn't that far short of the Setanta figure. It may be that SKY might want to get back involved with a view to turning the screw on their only remaining serious rivals for live TV rights.

A worthy tribute to a great, if sometimes idiosyncratic, football man.

My Pre-split Presumption...
I agree that it's to our advantage for Hibs to be in the bottom six rather than Motherwell.

Ticket Prices.......
The club are carrying a huge wage bill at the moment with all the players broght in during the anuary window. Not sure that they can afford such generosity.

The Feeble Five
Dorman? Good player on great form. Could be their saviour. Sorry, meant Dorman.

The Feeble Five
KILMARNOCK May be one of the most inconsistent teams in the league but in Jim Jeffries and Billy Brown they have the most experienced and shrewdest managerial team of the lot. They also have in Kevin Kyle the one player of genuine quality plying his trade in the nether regions of the SPL. For those reasons, I believe that Killie will rally to finish in 8th place. ICT If I was making this prediction 8 weeks ago I would, without doubt, have tipped us to finish the season rock bottom with 2 trips to Dingwall to look forward to next season. However, Butcher and Malpas have brought the sort of managerial nous so obviously lacking in the pervious management team and that, combined with the shrewd aquisitions made, to be fair partly by Brewster, during the January window should be enough to keep us up possibly with a few points to spare just as long as nobody becomes complacent and the players continue to focus and graft for 90 minutes of every match. ST MIRREN Possibly have the poorest squad in the bottom 5 and will not be helped by the fact that the talismatic effect of being previously unbeaten at their new ground has now gone but with Dorman and Dargo they carry a bit of a goal threat and are likely to have three home games post split. For those two reasons I believe the Buddies will narrowly escape the drop and finish 10th. FALKIRK Despite the fact that they have beaten us twice recently, the second time comprehensively to say the least ! I believe that Falkirk are the least effective team in the league and now that Brewster is in Semi retirement at Victoria Park they have the poorest manager who seems to have lost the confidence of the majority of the players and the vast majority of the fans. The Bairns are in great danger of playing first division football and may only be saved by the fact that Hamilton are in freefall. I predict that they may well survive by the skin of their teeth in 11th spot with their superior goal difference possibly being crucial. HAMILTON I don't think that Accies are the worst team in the league and, in my opinion they have a very competent manager but, unfortunately for them they are on the sort of horrendous run that we were on in the final dark days of the Brewster era. They can't find a single goal just now never mind a point. All teams, especially towards the bottom, have bad runs but Hamilton's has come at just the wrong time. Despite the fact that they currently top the feeble 5 confidence at New Douglas Park must be rock bottom, the team are young and lack a sufficient number of wise old heads which Falkirk have in abundance. For that reason I believe that Hamilton will be this season's fall guys. In what order do you predict the teams will finish ?
-
Are You Getting Nervous ?
I'm not too nervous right now but if we fail to beat Hamilton on Saturday it will be a different matter, especially if Falkirk get any sort of result.

Matchday Thread: Aberdeen -v- Ict
Aberdeen were poor and we had the perfect opportunity to take at least a point but in the second half we were absolutely shocking and in the end deserved to walk away with nothing. No need to panic though, Two more wins ought to see us safe starting next week against a Hamilton side who are on the sort of run we were on in the dying days of the Brewster regime.

Plea To Our Team
- Important Games!
Four points from the final two games before the split would go a long way to ensuring SPL football in Inverness next season. - Important Games!
