  1. I realise that Tommy Burns is tainted in the eyes of many by being associated with our worst national managerial team ever. However, I can recall the great success he had in taking Kilmarnock from the Second Division to the Premier League in successive seasons as well as his not unsuccessful spell as manager of Celtic at a time when their board had the biscuit tin mentality. I happen to believe that he's a good and experienced coach who knows the players well and who would be a safe pair of hands. That said, I didn't say that he would be my personal choice as national coach, merely that I wouldn't be unhappy with the appointment.
  2. Very well deserved for both of them. It must have hard to separate Brewster and McGhee for the managerial award. Let's hope that the usual curse associated with this award doesn't ensue.

  5. What about " In A Different League" is that still in print ? I had a copy but long since mislaid it.
  6. As long as our ready made and now fit again replacement for Rankin isn't about to join up with his brother at Easter Road.
  7. Looks like I'm in a minority of two; myself and Gordon Smith !

  10. A good appointment for Hibs, rotten timing from our point of view.
  11. I suspect that we'll let him go for the ?65,000 we paid to Ross County.
  12. I'd be surprised if wew don't add a defender by the end of the month.
  13. Time catches up with everybody. Whatever his merits as a manager he was possibly thr best uncapped Scottish player of recent times
  14. I wouldn't be unhappy with Tommy Burns.
  15. Where has this story come from ? Russell has probably been our most consistent player since joining the SPL. I would be very disappointed to see him leave just as he's about to enter his prime as a player.
  16. I agree with much of what's been said. McGuire is a decent player who has settled in well to the squad but who has been guilty of a number of mistakes. He would, no doubt b a useful addition to the team but he's not so special that we shoud consider breaking the bank to secure him. I my opinion, he merits the same sort of salary as Tokely or Munro. If we have offered much less than that we should offer more to put him on a par with these other experienced defenders. If he's looking for much more we would be better served looking elsewhere.

  22. Then again, who thought that Mark Brown was on Celtic's radar this time last year ?
  23. I'd happily settle for that.
