  1. The game is in 12 days and considering he's being considered for tomorrow's match, I reckon he'll be fine.
  2. Barnet Mad looks back on Kenny's time at Underhill: Kenny Gillet, Barnet?s French full back, has turned down an offer of an improved contract from manager, Mark Stimson. This will come as a great disappointment to many Barnet fans as Gillet was a very popular player at Underhill. Gillet joined Barnet in August 2007 from French club, Caen and, having missed the first four matches of the season, quickly became a first team regular at the club. An injury picked up at Chesterfield meant that Kenny missed the next nine matches but he came back for the FA Cup tie with Gillingham and it was his fine cross that was fired home by Liam Hatch to give the Bees a 2-1 win against a League One club. Gillet was a regular throughout Barnet?s FA Cup run to the 4th round for the second successive season before losing 1-0 to Bristol Rovers at Underhill and even moved over to the centre back position in the Boxing Day match at Underhill against Dagenham & Redbridge. Gillet made an unfortunate start to the 2008/09 season being sent off in the 1st round of the Carling Cup against Brighton, having scored his first goal for the club in the pre-season friendly against Arsenal, a finely hit free kick from outside the penalty area. Gillet returned to the side after suspension in a side that was struggling to gain many points. A second sending off at Accrington in January lead to new manager, Ian Hendon bringing in Colchester left back, Matt Lockwood on loan and Gillet was banished to the bench. Lockwood played his part in Barnet?s surge up the table away from the relegation zone and Gillet only returned to the side after Lockwood returned to Colchester in April. Gillet started last season as regular left back but an injury sustained in the home match with Morecambe brought in new signing Ahmed Deen and Gillet could count himself a bit fortunate to get back into the side on his return as Deen had played his part in a five match winning streak. As Barnet?s from began to slump after a promising start, Hendon again brought in Lockwood, ironically for the away match at Morecambe and for the rest of the season, Gillet was either on the bench or filling in at centre back, where, it has to be said he looked very comfortable, displaying a new sense of versatility. Gillet even played on the left side of midfield as well. Gillet may have felt that the club did not have the confidence in him to play him regularly at left back throughout the season. It was a surprise to many fans when Gillet was released at the end of last season, but, following new manager, mark Stimson?s offer of a new contract, it seemed that Kenny was going to stay on at Underhill but it is not meant to be. I?m sure that all barnet fans will wish Kenny all the best for the future.
  3. Also... is he the 'best that we can get'
  4. Link?
  5. I keep thinking our previous interest in Gregory Tade may yet yield a signing. He's a strong quick player who plays on either wing or up front; positions which we've recently realised need extra depth. Like most I'd also like to see Pavels back in addition to a loan signing or two. If you look at the caliber of loan deals that some SPL clubs have secured e.g. Sheridan for St Johnstone, Easton for Accies, Jutkev... (sp?) for Motherwell then it shows that there aren't just Bajram Fetai's available.
  6. Good stuff. A bit of penalty practice for our Scottish Cup run this season...
  7. Does this go to extra time if there is a draw after 90mins?
  8. *starting, not 'darting'. Bloody iPhone predictive text!
  9. Poor Sutherland will be shattered after playing all these games! Hope he does well and works his way into the darting lineup v. Queens Park. Nice blend of youth and experience. Surprised Whyte is playing; as I thought the club would want him to avoid injury ahead of his international tournament... Lookin forward to any score updates :)
  10. ...and after a wee look on Pie & Bovril, it seems the Dundee fans didn't rate his performance in the pre-season game he played in; saying he was rash in the tackle and had poor positional sense. He does have a nice video though: Gordon Gilbert EDIT: Even after just seeing his 'highlights', I think it is quite obvious that he is a 'clumsy' footballer... perhaps similar to LDZ?
  11. It's maybe not our trialist, but it is rumoured that we are interested in him; according to the P&J: Scroll to the last few paragraphs... Butcher has been linked with South African defender Gordon Gilbert, 27, who is on trial with Dundee, and is still keen to strengthen his squad. He said: ?We are still looking at one or two players, but I would not like to name them. ?The squad is very competitive, but it is still small compared to other clubs in the SPL. ?If we have to go with the squad I have just now then so be it.?
  12. I won't manage it, due to being in Aberdeen (although I'll manage the next four fixtures v. QP, RV, Huntly and RA, where i'll try and post from my iphone). I'd imagine the team tomorrow will consist of the players left behind from the trip down south i.e. youth players and perhaps Foran, Proctor and Hayes if they are fit?
  13. Bring some colouring books or something like that to keep them occupied if they start to get bored. Either that, or suggest that you bring along a couple of your kids mates to keep them happy...? Are there buses from the bus station to this game??
  14. Also... RYAN McCann?? As in the ex-Celtic youth player? Or is it KEVIN McCann...?
  15. 4-4-2? 4-5-1? Can't quite work out who would play on the left midfield/attack in that team...
  16. Just read a good match report in the Sunday Mail online. Rooney didn't start due to a thigh strain.
  17. Looking forward to the updates when I land in Dublin about 3ish today. Very glad the Hotel has free wifi!
  18. So many posters thinking Gil will start... has he even started a preseason game yet!? Eric has been prolific in the last few games, in addition to being first choice last season in a settled team. I'd imagine him or Sanchez will be picked before Gil at the moment.
  19. A bit worrying that Hayes is injured in addition to Foran. Two of our most dangerous players missing a huge chunk of pre-season.
  20. I was in Galway last weekend and managed to catch quite a bit of GAA on the telly. You'd be surprised at how few injuries there are! All shoulder to shoulder, no swipes or diving in with legs. Hopefully Foran will be fit to make at least a substitute appearance v. Queens Park. However with positive performances by Shinnie, Eric, Sutherland and Gil, we are quite well covered I suppose. I'm guessing Hayes will be travelling and playing this weekend...
  21. Recovering from the injury he sustained against Ayr in the penultimate game of the season?
  22. Anyways... I see Foran isn't fully fit, according to the P&J; and he won't travel south with the first team squad this weekend. He'll instead stay to work with some of our younger squad. There is also an article on Elgin City where their manager says that he hopes Butcher will loan out 3 of our younger players. He especially hopes we loan out Max Johnson, who is wanted on loan by other clubs apparently. Max is currently nursing an Achilles injury according to the article...
  23. Good point! Also any sign of Hayes/Foran?
  24. Sutherland knows the ground well, having spent 5 or so months on loan...
  25. Has Hayes or Foran made an appearance in pre-season yet? I remember Foran injuring himself against Ayr in the penultimate game of the season; could that still be bothering him?
