  1. No disputing that Hibs are are a bigger team, but what potential is there? Will never win the League, and may win the odd cup. Given Rangers will undoubtedly come back to the top league, TB will have 18 months to achieve a cup win for Hibs. Something he is as likely, if not more likely to do with ICT, given the timescales he will have to work in. He wont have 18 months to win a cup as anyone can win a cup even with Rangers back in the top flight. You have to look at the old firm, two Edinburgh sides, maybe both Dundee sides but more UTD than the Dundee and Aberdeen as the big clubs in Scotland. Motherwell are not part of that they are middle of the road who have been doing great recently but they don't get above 10,000 a gate. We have to remember that however frustrating the crowd numbers are in Inverness we are still a young side. Even Ross County probably have a bigger core support than us because they have been around for a while to develop and lay foundations. As a club we have been around for just under 20 years and yes there were supporters of both clubs that jumped ship but it wasn't a lot in the scheme of things. Butcher is frustrated like the rest of us that we cant get more bums on seats but unlike the teams I have mentioned we wont get dramatic increases because of a period of success. Issues remain about price and facilities and Entertainment in Scottish Football but when the happier days are around these clubs can get back a certain number of fans because they choose not to go every week for a certain reason but they remain supporters and will attend when they need to. We don't have that, we have a core support of around 3,000 and maybe a few floaters who may turn up for the big games e.g. Derby and maybe promotion. As a club Caley Thistle will continue to grow and hopefully we will grow a larger fan base over the years and improve the facilities and maybe the stadium but that will take time. To get more fans the young need to be invested in which is what the club is doing. I became a supporter that way, i'm English and had never heard of the club until I moved to the north. I went to game with my dad and I got hooked but even though i cant go regularly any more i will still support the club and attend games when I can. These bigger clubs have been around for over 100 years we have not even reached a 5th of that time scale. It will be disappointing to see Butcher leave when we are in the middle of such a great period in our clubs history but if he does go without the first Europe adventure and first national trophy to be won he will have helped lay the foundations for that. Hibs are a bigger club and regardless of the old firm the challenge is to turn a major name in Scottish back into contention of doing something in the league and in cups. We shouldn't kid ourselves just because we have had one great season and in the midst of another that overall we should see Hibs as below us. Caley Thistle will hopefully grow but the club will remain long after Butcher.
  2. Doesn't mean he isn't staying but like the Barnsley situation he is going to explore his options. He may turn around and say no and stay i think this may have a little bit more to run before we know what is happening
  3. its official now the board have given permission and Butcher is interested to hear what they have to say
  4. gingerjaggy, If you're really a 'qualified journalist', please can I be your proof-reader! I see money!! not yet i'm not need to learn shorthand
  5. yep it is on twitter now but if we believe STV from yesterday it will turned down and then the ball is in Butcher's court
  6. Having trained to be a journalist and hopefully find a job soon i can understand Heather Dewer when writing that if it was from a reliable source. But reliable sources have to be checked out further otherwise they could be done defamation. In this case if Dewer and any other journalist worth there salt then they should get confirmation from an official source. If the leak is from a board memeber then yes they will be in the no but when dealing with facts they have to be accurate. The fact was this is very lazy journalism. The first article said that terms was agreed but yet no contact was made with the Caley Thistle board. Well even if this source is the most trusted on the whole planet even a journalist who asks questions to get information to write stories has to ask the fundamental question how is this possible without being illegal. The article should have been held until some official comfirmation from either club backs the story up.
  7. someone that has seen us play and knows what the team is like so they continue the work smoothly or as smooth as possible
  8. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24809195 BBC say he has agreed terms but Kenny Cameron has said no contact been made so I don't know where this has come from
  9. I think Butcher has to make a decision that I best for him and of course like any other fan we want him to stay I believe that is the best option. Take out the club and lifestyle and it is now up to him as to what will give him the greatest satisfaction in the job. He has option 1 stay and lead us to cup success, get us into Europe or both. Option 2 is to go to a club that has underachieved and been devoid of success for many years yet could he be the man to turn it all round where others some very big names have failed. The other issue is the backroom staff. Terry has been a great servant to the club and has it to thank in raising his profile back up since his success at Motherwell but we also have Terry to thank in the same regard that has raised the profile of a club and area which has notoriously stuck to its roots when hiring managers and playing staff as most dont want to come here. That being said i don think Terry is the best manager in the country far from it. I dont think we would be where we are today if Butcher was the sole man in in charge. It is a team with Steve massella finding all these talented players to Maurice Malpas being an excellent coach. If Butcher can have them both then I see it happening but in the case of Barnsley if one or even both cannot be sorted then he wont. I think Butcher will leave us sooner rather than later as i think he will want that one big challenge at a higher profile club. If he does go then I will be sad but we will go on and yes this is butcher's team but if a new man comes in like Robertson as has been mentioned he has seen us play and knows how most of the players work. So that will be a much smoother transition but it is all ifs and buts until things are made clear
  10. Chick Young the only one pushing it no one else has said anything about butcher apart from some articles linking butcher with the job. I think like everyone here that Butcher would be silly to go to Hibs there are bigger clubs out there if he wants a bigger responsibility and pressure. But if it does happen then what Butcher has done is raise the profile of the club and I am sure we will get someone else who will continue to raise our profile.
  11. it wasnt vintage but we did enough and did have other chances so a good win back up to second and we continue to go forward
  12. 2,948 the attendance
  13. 2-1 dammm
  14. ht not bad hopefully get another couple in the second half
  15. brora 1 up at clyde
  16. the push seems to be coming from chick young on bbc scotland. He has said that butcher was in the frame an was interested in the job when fenlon was appointed and he thinks the same this time that butcher would be interested. Robbo is worried that the poor crowds may swing him to leave
  17. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24763516 BBC now reporting a potential 16 match ban for the incident with the official
  18. It all rest on the administration process. If they are still in administration then they cant sign any players under the automatic ban on buying players. If they get out still in time for the window then i think they can bring in under 21 players so they could bring loan players but it is under 21 still. After the window they can sign free agents of any age but due to the dates of the semi finals they wouldn't have time to register them in time to play so it is all about when they get out of administration and with the slow going in Lithuania it could be a while
  19. it is wide open but I don't think I want St Johnstone on recent form against them. Hearts would be ideal chance to put right the wrongs of last season and they are much weaker than they were last season and we played them off the park at home in the league. Aberdeen would be the toughest but they beat us 1-0 through a very good finish but struggled to break us down and we did have one cleared off the line. I am confident whoever we play and i think defeat last year may turn out to be an advantage as the players will be well motivated to get to a final and even try and win it
  20. haha lets wait and see but ye again we are in it to win it and have experience from last year to get us in the final this time
  21. maybe he spent the budget on getting the playing surface up to scratch but lef no spare coopers to keep the leccy running
  22. yeah that what I am getting and the game is on bt2 rather than bt1
  23. looks like he has joined the Caley Thistle B team in the highland league 3 year deal
