Look at it this way - drawing all your games gets you 36 points and puts you in relegation play off territory.
  2. Worth mentioning that Alloa have narrowed their pitch to a ridiculous extent, so there was no width to play with. It was really catching our players out, a defender would take the ball out of the box and 2 strides later was at the touch line, with balls upfield and passes in general going out of play far more often than usual.
  3. Not for the first time in our last 2 games, it has been quite apparent to me and all the people around me that we just aren’t going to score many goals with White as the striker. I’ll be diplomatic and say he is “not the most technically gifted” player, of which we’ve had many before such as Graham Bayne, but White doesn’t compensate for it with other attributes (eg pace, work rate, positioning, good in the air etc). Change needed upfront, and until Oakley returns Austin looks a livelier and more threatening option. Not that it’s all White’s fault. Shots at goal today from the rest of the team were mostly pretty woeful efforts.
  4. Not often we have consecutive nil-nils.
  5. Agree about not getting carried away, especially as of our 5 games so far, 4 have been against the bottom 4 sides! On that basis it’s hard to know how good we actually are. Sterner tests lie ahead, starting next week in Dingwall.
  6. The tactic we’ve adopted recently of taking a 3 goal lead seems to be a pretty effective one. I for one would like to see Robbo continue with it.

Just out of interest, how do clubs who runs men’s and women’s teams avoid having to pay the women the same as the men?! It wouldn’t surprise me if one day they get hit with backdated gender equality claims.

The Robbo Q&A on here was AFTER his first spell. But very enlightening all the same. I remember asking him why he persisted with Darran Thomson for so long.
  9. 7 seconds from our box to back of net.
  10. At least 3, two excellent fingertip saves in the 1st half and a close range block when it looked certain we would be pegged back to 2-1. Superb keeping, hard to believe it's the same keeper we had this time last year.
  11. Good all round team performance, neat and composed, and a well deserved win.
  12. Celtic knocked out of 2 cups ON 14th August!
  13. Our search for a decent penalty taker continues.....

First half a stark reminder that it’s been a looong time since we played a good team.
  15. I think Razcak is right. We would need 11 points to be one of the best 4 group winners.

That was my conclusion too. Losing by 3 would take us down to Partick’s GD of +3 but we have scored more than them which is the next criteria used.
  17. Good question! It’s certainly not our longest unbeaten run (yet). After losing a Scottish cup game to Killie, we went unbeaten in 16 competitive matches from February to August 2010 under Terry Butcher as we overhauled Dundee to reclaim our place in the top flight. I can’t think of a longer unbeaten run than that one.
  18. And another one he knew nothing about (and was offside). He takes a mean penalty though. But I think it is fair to say that for the first time ever, there won’t be many kids around the world pretending to be the World Cup’s golden boot winner, as there were many better strikers.
  19. There's a fair chance that one day, ICT might field an ineligible player. When it happens, a section of our support will be queuing up to post the likes of "laughing stock of Scottish football", "shambles", "heads must roll", "amateur", Highland league" etc, completely forgetting that this happens to someone every season, including clubs with far greater administrative resources than us. Just saying!
  20. It was a good tournament but personally still think the Brazil one was the best for ages in terms of entertaining football.
  21. At the end of the day, England didn't beat any team ranked higher than 16th in the world. They did reasonably well and avoided the abject failure and humiliation that has characterised major tournaments of the last 20 years, but when the draw opened up like the parting of the Red Sea, they still weren't up to the task and a wee country ranked lower than them turned out to be a fair bit better and more deserving of a place in the final. The OBEs can go back in the box.
  22. Don’t think we’ll get away with that one in competitive fixtures!
  23. So what was the decision? Both options ended up offering goals from an exciting young striker, but I would suggest the France game offered more drama and entertainment.
