How nice it is to be able to enjoy a Saturday evening without being in an ICT-induced shitty mood because of our latest poor result/performance - you have to go back as far as September to find a Saturday victory for us. The family are enjoying this return of the ungrumpy me and are already fans of this winter shutdown!
-
For that to happen would require our "points per game" to increase by a whopping 63% from 0.76 to 1.24. It's not impossible, but bear in mind that our current form has us earning just 0.3 points per game, so an absolutely massive turnaround would be required, of the type that usually only happens when the manager is replaced.....

Whilst we desperately need a goalscorer, would Storey be the answer? He's barely kicked a ball since August, and in his last 25 games for us scored 6 times, a strike rate worse than Doumbouya.
-
Whilst the return of Storey would seem a logical move for all parties concerned, the article itself is a classic example of a journalist having no substance whatsoever to accompany the headline, not even so much as a " sources close to the club say...."
-
Don't worry, this Ebbe thing is all just a clever hoax by the ICT media team. Obviously there's no way a player who didn't make the grade in the LOI and slid down to amateur level over there would suddenly earn a move to our top flight. Just how desperate do you think we are?!

It was mentioned in the South Wales Argus a few days ago that Newport were rumoured to have Boden on their radar for a return. No quotes or anything, just newspaper speculation.

Agreed.....but how?

As an aside, what did Brewster's and Foran's sides havein common during their dismal runs? Iain Vigurs!
-
The only significant mistake our board has made in the last 15 years was being too loyal to Brewster and giving him too much time. There are parallels. We were on a bad run (but still had more points than we have now at the same stage) and then had a cup tie against a lower league side, which we won, and then had a relegation "6 pointer" against Hamilton. We waited until the inevitable defeat in that one before sacking him and bringing in Butcher in late January, who immediately brought about improved performances and results, but couldn't quite save us. Had we brought him in a game or two earlier, and let him be the manager to spend all the additional January budget, it's pretty likely that we'd have survived. We now go into the January window with our chances of survival depending on shrewd and transformational signings being brought in by a failing manager whose summer signings were poor and who has a relatively sparse book of contacts. Happy new year.

To lift the mood before the bells, I hereby predict that we will now go on a run of 27 days without a league defeat!

Sensible comment, as ever, but it would give me more hope if we were able to cling on to a few of the standard attributes of decent managers: makes good signings gets the best out of the players team always looks well organised the players look really fit good tactician has a good plan B when things aren't going to plan makes good substitutions has the team playing attractive football team always hard to beat develops young players great team spirit is evident How many of those qualities has Foran demonstrated?

No, Hughes basically decided he didn't want to do the job any more, unless it was on his terms. If your girlfriend announces that she'll only stay with you if she gets regular jewellery, fancy restaurants and designer clothing, it's time to part ways.
-
In the interests of balance, does anyone think Foran is doing a good job and has got the managerial attributes to get us out of this freefall?

That's 10 without a win and 1 win in 14. Brewster had won 3 in 14 when he got sacked......

The same board that brought us tremendous success over the last few years? Change is indeed needed to prevent relegation, but you perhaps need to look more towards the dressing room than the board room.
-
Source?! There's nothing in recent months to suggest we are capable of that.
-
Maybe it'll have the same effect as Foran getting manager of the month!

For those with glasses half empty, an alternative reason to go is that this might be our last trip to a Dingwall for many years! We cant allow that to happen, so come on ICT, this is the time to raise your game.

In 10 of the last 11 seasons, the team that was bottom of the league at the turn of the year has gone on to finish bottom. Don't let that be us. Let's do the business against Motherwell and County in the next few days and give ourselves a much more positive outlook for 2017.

Sounds like a very decent performance today. The defence has certainly tightened up since we were regularly leaking 3 a game, that's just 1 conceded in each of the last 3 games. Lack of firepower is becoming more apparent now, with just 4 goals scored in 7 games and never more than 1 per game in that spell. Onwards and upwards......
