  1. Just what I was thinking. With Utd having failed to get a manager from the 5 that were top of their list, they would only request permission to speak to our manager once they knew he would accept and personal terms were broadly agreed. There's been 2 or 3 days of nothing happening since bookies suspended the betting on Hughes which would certainly have allowed time for all that to happen. If my fears are justified and Yogi wants to go, we won't stand in his way and it's just a case of sorting out the compensation.
  2. Very good likelihood of getting a cap this weekend, now that the Gibraltar game is even more meaningless than a meaningless friendly, and the higher profile players won't be remotely motivated to take part.
  3. Whoever is next on Utd's list will be at least the 6th person they've spoken to or tried to lure. Very flattering!
  4. Absolutely, the values used in that report are flawed and pretty meaningless.
  5. Just over a week ago we were faced with a a pair of tricky fixtures against in form teams, and I'd have been really pleased with 2 points. To get 6 points is just brilliant. Mind you, our recent failure to beat Dundee Utd, even with half our team missing, looks a bit embarrassing now.
  6. Er... let's just call it 55 for the moment! I read that the SNP have stopped selling mugs and T-shirts which refer to the 56. That itself is nothing but a very minor inconvenience, but it seems pretty clear that regardless of the police investigation, the facts that are undisputed make it clear that Thomson should never have been made shadow business minister, especially for a socialist party. "Michelle knows what she's doing, knows her area and knows about fairness, equality and prosperity". Aye right, Nicola. Do some background checks next time.
  7. I think there are quite a few others. I'm pretty certain we paid fees for (with my recollections or guesses in brackets): Bobby Mann from Forfar (£25k?) Martin Glancy from Dumbarton (£15k?) Adam Rooney from Stoke (£50k?) Craig Brewster from Dunfermline, to be player/manager There might also have been fees, even nominal ones, for Phil McGuire and Marc McCulloch, both from Dunfermline. I was also wondering about Hislop from County. We got him in a January window after it became clear he would be joining us at the end of the season, but I think County maybe just told him to leave immediately as his heart wasn't with them any more. I see he's an optician these days, as well as assistant manager at Arbroath.
  8. Me thinks the sarcasm has been missed by some!
  9. How do you know he hasn't?
  10. He faced some good attempts on goal, but saved them all easely.
  11. He certainly earned his Monet.
  12. A few minutes ago, before I heard about McNamara getting sack, I logged on here to post saying that he'll soon be gone and Utd won't have to look much further than a drive up the A9 to find 2 candidates who would do a much better job, earn less and work with a smaller budget than the outgoing manager. Hopefully they will prefer McIntyre because of his history with Utd. There's a very toxic atmosphere throughout Tannadice at the moment and all sorts of politics in the board room with the Thompsons wanting out. Bargepole stuff.
  13. Fantasic result, especially as it was against the recently crowned league champions!!
  14. Didn't he also do a painting of the game v Hearts? You know, when Sho-Silva ended up on the canvas.....
  15. We also get a few mentions in a book called Against All Odds. Can't believe you missed an opportunity to mention that one.
  16. Shortest matchday thread ever?! Anyway, job done, into the quarter finals we go.
  17. Poor guy just needs the love of a good woman to help him chillax, and I think I've found one.
  18. About 10 years ago we got a mention in the Bash St Kids in the Beano!
  19. I've just watched BBC's Scottish news at 10.30, rewinding it 3 times just to be absolutely sure what I heard. In a piece about Scotland's rugby team the presenter referred to the head coach as Vern Cotton.
  20. Anyone who thinks they are going to "Almondvale" for this tie, get with the times. Over the years it's been the: - West Lothian Courier Stadium - City Stadium (but not in a city) - Braidwood Motor Company Stadium - Energy Assets Arena and as of the last few days, this latest name really takes the biscotti. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the TONY MACARONI ARENA!!!
  21. Still can't believe Kuhl wasn't booked for it. On camera it looks even worse than it did at the time.
  22. I was impressed by his pace, power and workrate. Never got any chances to score though. He could be the missing piece of the jigsaw, but in the first half certainly it looked like we were trying a new jigsaw altogether, changing the way we play and overusing his attributes.
  23. A game of two halves, as they say. We started poorly, taking a very direct approach (ie long balls for Storey to chase) and not retaining possession. Utd could/should really have had it sewn up by half time, with Fon W making a great stop when Rankin was played in by Billy. They also wasted 3 free kicks from the edge of the box, and with Draper and Tremarco picking up early yellows, things weren't looking great. The Utd player with the crazy hair somehow escaped a yellow when he hauled dopwn Christie who had just made a **** of him with a great turn to break clear down the wing. Boo. We were also angered when Utd decided to contest a drop ball, when play was stopped for their injured player and we were in possession. Boo. Late on, Foran contested one in return, which they didn't like, but they started it..... We came out much better in the 2nd half, equalising with our first real attempt on goal and the powerful header from Meekings didn't quite burst the net but it did burst Utd's fragile confidence, and they had little to offer from then on. Shortly after, the game's champagne moment was when Christie picked out a beautiful pass that only a top, top player would have spotted and weighted it perfectly for Tremarco to run onto, forcing the keeper into a save. Draper came very close to getting a second yellow, with the ref clearly indicating that next foul, he's off. Foran came on for Christie and Storey moved out to the right, but Foran's lack of pace made him pretty ineffective as a lone striker. What does it say about Lopez, though, when the striker pecking order seems to be Storey, Silva then Foran all ahead of him? Encouraging 2nd half and a decent point against a Utd team that without Billy Mckay would be a considerably weaker side. I look forward to the game when we play well for the full 90.
  24. Someone's gotta ask this, but was there any particular reason you were browsing for dresses? If it's for yourself, I'm not sure the A-line style would be the most flattering. And anyway, I think predominantly blue is more your colour.
  25. Alas, he may turn out to be a hypocrite after all http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-34263447 And on that subject, how do the nationalists feel about seeing Sturgeon singing the anthem recently, happily trading her principles to avoid losing a few votes. A God she doesn't believe in, a privileged, unelected monarch that goes against all her beliefs, praising of a country she doesn't want to be part of. And that's even before the bit about crushing rebellious Scots!
