  1. Our record in this tournament against 3rd division sides from Glasgow isn't actually very good!
  2. Away to the division 3 side......
  3. Just a reminder that the draw takes place at 2pm. CELTIC DUNDEE UNITED HEART OF MIDLOTHIAN ST. JOHNSTONE ST. MIRREN ABERDEEN INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE RANGERS No easy ties there. After being being drawn away in the previous two rounds, we could really do with a home tie this time to have a good chance of a trip to Hampden.
  4. From BBC Gossip page: Inverness CT boss Terry Butcher says his players were "ecstatic" at news he will serve a one-match touchline ban in Friday's Highland derby. (Daily Mail)
  5. Just when the first team finally get a win, the U20s finally suffer a defeat, their first of the season. Beaten 5-2 at Killie, goals from Oswell and Pepper according to the SPL site.
  6. I think that must be the game we won with a late header from Barry Wilson unmarked at the back post. I was right behind the goal and he was smiling before the ball even reached him. It might also have been the game when a County player had a ridiculous hairstyle, which prompted someone (Mantis?) to shout out asking him if his mother had been intimate with a badger.
  7. ...at Dumbarton! Clearly the obvious venue. Well after eventually deciding that they should hold a 4th round draw, and then deciding upon a date and venue, the SFL have now decided NOT to hold it at Dumbarton after all, and it will be at Hampden. This is the sort of decisive leadership Scottish football needs.

I can't imagine he'll be getting it styled at your typical Inverness barber! Anyway, very exciting player, could be the missing piece of the jigsaw.

If the guy is here at all it will only be for a trial, surely. I can't imagine that we would be signing players we haven't seen in the flesh. Not these days anyway.

I just hope Terry hasn't been fooled with a DVD of the Andre Martin who plays for Sporting Lisbon!

At his last 8 clubs he seems to have averaged 0 goals a season if wikipedia is correct. I'm guessing the figure you quoted dates back to youth level when he was apparently incredibly prolific. As was Russell Duncan

There's more than one Andre Martins, but I'm guessing it is this one. http://en.wikipedia....Saraiva_Martins Let's hope he's better than his career history suggests. Edit - seems to have had a trial at St Mirren 2 years ago http://news.bbc.co.u...ren/8990673.stm Also had unsuccessful trials with both Dundee teams in the summer of 2007, and Dundee fans weren't impressed with him when he played in a friendly v Arbroath. Had a trial with Partick that summer too, and scored in a friendly v Stenny.

He'll be one of those Portuguese-Montenegrans who can play in a variety of positions.....
  14. To clarify a couple of things: 1. The topic title is misleading, Butcher hasn't been banned. Not yet at least. 2. The rights and wrongs of the ref's decisions are irrelevant, the diciplinary is for his comments which were critical of the ref and refs in general.
  15. Actually there is a parallel with Pluto - after spending the last century in the top flight SPL (Solar Planetary League), Pluto was controversially voted out and demoted to a lower division, where the useless lump now plies its trade. Scientists believe it is still a more welcoming environment than Ibrox.
  16. Aye, introduce yourself young fella. Or at least wear a pink carnation next time.
  17. They've just announced that they will be keeping their balls under wraps until Thursday 4th October at 1.30pm. Ties to be played 30/31 October.
  18. But the BBC were already at Ibrox, all that was needed was a couple of SFL representatives to turn up and pull out their colourful balls, so to speak. Failing that, the BBC presenter could have said "And now over to Celtic Park, for the 4th round draw....."
  19. John McGlynn has rightly pointed out that the SFL missed a trick by not making the draw straight after last night's ties. It could have been broadcast live after the Rangers game on BBC1, to help generate and sustain interest in the tournament. Do the SFL not work after 5pm? Do they need more time to 'prepare' the balls? As it is, a day after the round is complete, the SFL still haven't even decided when the draw is going to take place! All they can say is that it will take place next week some time. You'd think the date and time of the draw could have been decided a few days ago, it's not difficult!
  20. He's on loan from Celtic - Robbie Thomson, son of Scott who was a keeper at numerous clubs. Think that was the no. 9 Gemmell, who scored for them at Killie. A Shinnie GIRFUY'd their keeper after scoring, obviously didn't like his banter.
  21. The SFL usually put highlights on their website a few days after each round is complete.
  22. Don't think they've announced when it will take place. Last round wasn't drawn til the following Monday.
  23. In fact, after 120 minutes and 7 penalties, the decisive moment came when Esson made his first save of the entire night. We might not have been great, but there was only ever one team going to win this. We made a reasonably bright start, but the goal came out of nothing. Defelcted forward ball took a nice bounce, Mackay ran on to it and nodded it over the advancing keeper. The equalising penalty came out of nowhere, with Raven seeming to make a needless and clumsy foul. He has his critics, but I would add that otherwise he played well defensively and made a couple of superb interventions. The second half and extra time just fizzled out, we huffed and puffed but did little in the final 3rd. A Shinnie was the only creative source but nothing was coming off for him. Stenny had several long range efforts going high and wide, and one good chance going into the side netting. We created little until the final moments of the 90, with a Foran bullet header well saved and a Raven effort being blocked. We then dominated ET against tired opponents. I thought the sub Roberts looked much more of a handful than Mackay, and I'd like to him get more opportunities. He surely will. Onto penalties, and a bad start when captain marvel stepped up first and cracked his off the inside of the post, but that was to be our only miss. G Shinnie, Morrison, Doran, A Shinnie, Draper and Roberts all put them away, with Morrison's the only one that could be described as unstoppable. It has to be added that the conditions tonight were atrocious - strong wind and driving rain. And without making excuses, the home side clearly had the measure of the plastic pitch. There were so many frustrating moments when ICT moves broke down because an easy pass whizzed out for a throw on the fast surface. But hey, it was never in doubt.
  24. Our last appearance at Ochilview must have been against Falkirk when they groundshared about 10 years ago. I think Falkirk had Xausa and Jason Lee playing for them at the time. And Caff got sent off, unfairly.
