  1. Here's a thought. If all teams played in skins and the players got the team strip tattooed onto their bodies: We wouldn't change strip every season The club wouldn't have to shell out on team kit No laundry needed No more bookings for taking a shirt off to celebrate No more jersey pulling Players would be a helluva lot more loyal! I just can't think why this hasn't been done before.
  2. With us (hopefully) signing this talented but injury prone David Raven, one of 2 things is going to happen. 1. He will avoid injury and be a great player for us, and having used us as a springboard to prove his reliability, earn a decent move back to England, prompting many of our fans to moan that we should have given him a long term contract rather than a 1 year deal. 2. He will get injured, prompting many of our fans to moan that we should never have signed him in the first place given his history. If you want to have any credibility later in the season when criticising the club for getting it wrong either way, please nail your colours to the mast now and state your view without the benefit of hindsight, thanks.
  3. Whaaaat? Where are you hearing that?
  4. Can't afford them. So skins it is!
  5. Shouldn't that make it Dundee 8-7 Dunfermline?
  6. So did Dundee. 7-7
  7. Liverpool (played once), Tranmere, Carlisle, Shrewsbury, Tranmere, released. Former England U21, so as good a pedigree as we can realistically hope to get. However, his Wiki page the phrase "injury plagued" desribes a season at Carlise and is used again for his time at Shrewbury. Just looked at the Total Tranmere forum where someone has said he is joining us and says "Good luck to him. Would probably have remained our first choice right back had he not picked up an injury". So, bit of a pattern emerging. But how else do we get players of potentially very high calibre? I'm excited by the prospect of him joining us.
  8. There were some immense performances by Aberdeen and Dundee Utd, but the reality is that it was far easier to reach finals in those days when it was more cup and less league. Only a few teams to overcome to get to a final. And the strongest nations weren't allowed to flood the competions with all their top sides like they do now, the European Cup was one country, one entrant, regardless of how good they were.
  9. The last few seasons have been very poor in that respect, but I wouldn't say total failure, far from it. We've seen 2 Scottish teams in European finals in the last 10 years, which is 2 more than in the previous 10 years. And some very respectable runs in the Champions League too. Very decent performance for a small nation, comparing pretty well against the likes of Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, and most of Eastern Europe for that matter. But those days are past now, I agree.
  10. Would be nice to have Cox back as Tansey's replacement - but we don't pay transfer fees. Hard to imagine that Swindon would let him leave for free having paid us something like £50,000 just a few months ago. And does the player want to return, and take a pay cut into the bargain? The article says he "could" return to us, but its hard to tell if that is just lazy and obvious speculation, or if there is any basis for the statement. Hopefully an enquiry has been made though.
  11. If distance is that much of an issue, Killie should apply for the Ayrshire Juniors. Or are most of the teams in the wrong part of Ayrshire?
  12. Of the teams in contention, which one is most likely to finish below ICT? They get my vote.
  13. I wonder if there's a way shares could be sold in the club shop as a product? I know there's an administrative process behind each allotment of shares, which would still have to happen, but could you hand over your (say) £100 and get a presentation certificate, ideal for those special occassions! I guess the main point is to make fans aware that they can invest in the club, and to make the process as easy as possible.
  14. Looks like we all missed a big clue that his future lay with the Sheep*****ers......
  15. With Rangers now having to apply to the SFL as their only option, I wonder if Albion, Berwick, Stenny, Stranraer and Brechin have long enough memories to remember Rangers' 1964 ploy to reform the league without them? http://www.londonhea.../1964052601.htm "It is a proposal for dissolution coupled with an agreement that immediately afterwards the league will reform itself under the same guise...." This approach is clearly embedded in the Rangers strategy handbook! [Mantis - note that in 1964 they are referred to as Glasgow Rangers.]
  16. Given that they can't now influence the outcome, I think you are right that some of those clubs will abstain in order to minimise the upset caused to fans from either side of the debate. I hope the splinters are very uncomfortable.
  17. Hat....................check Scarf.................check Keyring.............check Car sticker........check 500,000 £1 ordinary shares.......
  18. Careful Alex, your retirement lump sum might get you a controlling stake! I believe shares are still available to anyone who wants them. But possibly with a minimum purchase of £100? I'm sure someone will clarify.
  19. Given that they have players under contract (as well as all the other employees) how would they avoid going bust again? All I can think is that they could travel around playing exhibition matches like the Harlem Globetrotters. Except they'd be the Govan Taxdodgers. And they wouldn't get near the 'hoops'.
  20. I think I'm right in saying that share purchases have a distinct advantage over other 'donation' methods because all of the money given goes to the club. Buying season tickets and doing player sponsorships are great but 20% of the money goes in VAT to the government (unless you are Rangers), and with other methods like sales of merchandise and 50/50 about half the money goes out as a cost of the product. And as Flower says, shares also give the holder a voice and a lasting legacy.
  21. The Famous Five : Hearts, Hibs, Dundee Utd, Aberdeen and ICT. Plus there is St Johnstone who have made no public statement but the other day the Chairman told fans in a private meeting that they would be voting against Newco. Can we read anything into the fact that of the 6 clubs to have expressed an anti-newco opinion, there is not a west coast club amongst them? Killie, St Mirren, Motherwell, Celtic, where are you?
  22. With it now seeming inevitable that Rangers will be an SFL side, at best, I wonder if more of their squad will now reject the TUPE transfer to Newco and make themselves free agents?
  23. Yes that was a bit weird. On the BBC 10 O Clock News just after they'd beaten Ukraine, the reporter said "Few people expected England to get out of this group." Eh? Hardly the group of death! England ranked 6th in the world, with France, 14th, their only serious competition. (Italy by the way are ranked 12th). Anyway, England are out. And in unrelated news, UEFA were said to be pleased that a racist was deported from Ukraine last night.
  24. "We have listened to all our customers and taken the decision and we now look forward to their support going forward," added Cameron. In other words, those who said they would only buy a season ticket if we voted no, put your money where your mouth is!
  25. Fact or speculation?
