Yes that puzzled me too, I couldn't see what the distinction was.

To bring in an ICT connection, our Owain has been in Wales squads with Evans.
  3. The Aviva Premiership, that is.
  4. Of course, just because we are offering him a new contract doesn't mean he'll accept it. The lure of the Premiership may be too great for him.
  5. If Tade gets the ball 30 yards out with a clear run in on goal, rather than me thinking "Yes, we're going to score" it's more a case of "I wonder if we can win a corner out of this?" Whilst he has a habit of firing straight at the keeper, our other options in the scenario described above are not any better. Mackay would carefully place the ball a few inches past the post. Shane would blast it high and wide. Foran would get caught by a defender. And Gnapka wouldn't even bother trying. Hayes is our most clinical finisher and the only one you'd expect to score. But Tade has made a reasonable contribution and is definitely worth another season.
  6. That's not quite true. You might not expect to make any profit on shares, but they buy you certain rights. Presumably the Muirfield Mills deal would have taken a lot less than 8 months to finalise if it had been an unconditional donation. And as for the bricks, I actually own one as it was the cheapest way I could find to get on the property ladder. The vexing question of "Who owns the stadium" could take a further twist if I don't keep up my mortgage repayments!
  7. Do they still have the old Kingsmills floodlights?
  8. There is a slight difference Charles - in all ICT's initiatives that you list, people putting money in got something in return : shares, bricks, shirts etc. It's quite unusual to simply ask for donations. But you can't blame County for handing round the begging bowl if it help keeps the debt down, and I wouldn't fault a football club for raising money by any (legal) means.
  9. Good opportunity for Tom Aldred to get a game.

  11. If it kept them afloat and helped them to get where they are today, then you'd have to say it was ultimately a good piece of business. If County now find it to be a bit of a burden should employ Duff & Phelps to help them find a way of reneging on the deal.
  12. OK, how about ICT offer a scheme whereby the team are "allowed" just 3 garbage home performances a season. For each dismal showing over and above that, there is a £10 rebate to season ticket holders, to be funded from the players and manager's bonus pots, and if that runs out then it's straight off their basic pay. Caley100 would be the garbageness judge, with his verdict being announced over the tannoy at full time and the shamed players having to run over to the exit gates to dish out the tenners in person.
  13. Interesting approach. The price of a season ticket could be as much as £250 but drops the more people buy them, to as little as £125 if they get 1,600 season ticket holders. http://www.livingstonfc.co.uk/commercial/commercial_season_ticket_prices_2012_13.php They say that this is based on the Hartlepool model which they claim trebled the number of season tickets.
  14. The following wee dig on County's wikipedia entry has survived for a few days now. "Founded in 1929, they will play in the 2012/13 Scottish Premier League after winning promotion as champions of then First Division, confirming their status as the most successful football club north of Inverness."
  15. What MacGregor should have said is "This promotion confirm's Ross County's status as the most successful football club north of Inverness. And south of Torshavn."
  16. You are right Charles. But a word of warning. If I ever turn on the radio and hear you use the word "fairytale" (like your BBC colleagues felt obliged to do every single time they talked about Gretna) I will get in my car, find you at whatever ground you are at, and stick your microphone into that unpleasant stinking place where where the sun don't shine. And I don't mean Dingwall.
  17. There are certain things they have been good at, and I don't just mean attracting journeymen has-beens on inflated wages. Some people have always felt they have been better than us at some off the field activities. However, on the pitch is where it matters and after 18 seasons we have finished above them 16 times. I wouldn't want to swap that record.
  18. Just realised that whilst last season we scored 6 against St Johnstone, this season we achieveded the grand total of zero goals against them. 0-2, 0-1, 0-0. At least we improved defensively with every game!
  19. If the ref had considered it to be a penalty it would also have been a straight red. Big call, just glad it went our way.
  20. so so is better than no! no!
  21. I would call that a satisfactory performance, and I think the players all responded well after last week. The continual high balls to Mackay were frustrating, but apart from that we played a fair amount of decent football. Rossco and Golio were excellent at the back, and should be applauded for their vital professional fouls. Best moment of the game was when Sandaza had got round Tuffey and was about to roll it into the net when Golio appears from nowhere and miraculously comes away with the ball while Sandaza hits the deck and the Saints players, fans and bench go mental. Would like to see that again, but whatever he did it worked. Tade for Mackay should have happened sooner, but can't complain about too much else.
  22. I printed off a copy of the report and have enjoyed reading about just how bad Rangers' financial plight is. But I'll have to stop, because the pages are all stuck together now.
  23. Don't worry about ICT, we got our £40k money from them.
  24. Here's my bedtime reading, the administrators report and looooong list of creditors. ICT were owed £39,805 when Rangers went into adminsitration. http://www.rangers.co.uk/staticFiles/fe/a8/0,,5~174334,00.pdf
  25. The kind folk at the SPL figured that if they give us enough chances to beat Hibs, eventually we won't f*ck it up.
