Phrases you don't here very often: ;) But there's one phrase that perhaps appears a bit too often:
  2. Have we had a set piece expert (corners and free kicks) since Barry Robson? As for long throws in attacking positions, Munro is the best we've got. However, he has taken hundreds of them over the years and I can't recall a single goal resulting.

Which Iron Maiden managed to convert into a 14 minute rampage. I think you'd rather listen to Jerusalem though.
  4. Don't forget, the club decided to cash in and sell him. Plus he contributed more than certain others who did get a medal.

I know of a company that had a ?50k scoreboard that had been used once for an event. It was offered to an SPL club as gift but they turned it down because of the work and cost involved in running and maintaining it.

I thought they were pioneering the 1-4 formation with a flexible back line.
  7. They shouldn't be banned, but nor should they be blown within 25 feet of me.
  8. Cracking game between 2 wee nations. If only Scotland had finished runners up to Netherlands in qualifying, we would perhaps be able to claim to be the 2nd best team in the world after Sunday's final.

Yes but there's more to it than that. How did England's vastly experienced squad fare compared with an inexperienced Germany team based around players in their early 20's with only a few caps? And we did OK last season with pretty inexperienced players like Rooney, Hayes and Cox. I'm certainly more excited by the type of player we are going for than if we were getting journeymen who'd played for St Mirren, Killie, Motherwell etc etc.
  10. Try it in Flemish Alex!

:P In anticipation of a possible poor performance by him one day, can I be the first to refer to Blumenshtein as BloominShite?

I'd be pretty sure Johnson has been brought in as Esson's competition and will not be 3rd choice. For a club like us, any 3rd choice we ever have will be a youngster/minimum wage kind of keeper.

But not enough, it would appear! Interesting story all the same. Tuffey and Esson? We'd be guaranteed one very unhappy keeper.

Probably depends which of his passports you are looking at - come to think of it, Israel has a track record when it comes to faking EU passports!

Indeed. But didn't get signed, therefore he can't be as good as Bajram Fetai......

Looking purely at Blumstein's career history, he was perhaps a very highly rated teenager who then failed to progress. Wiki cliki Needs a career relaunch, time for the ICT magic to rub off on him.

He'll be delighted to be moving to one of the few places that can match Newcastle's night life.
  18. Maradona's keener than ever to get his hands on the trophy. South American creativity
  19. Clearly a penalty is not compensation for the goal they would have got. Maybe football should introduce the equivalent of the "penalty try" you can get in rugby when a deliberate infringement stops a certain score?
  20. Being played at Witton Albion? That's Northwich/Manchester Airport sort of area I think.
  21. Suarez knew exactly what he was doing and his team are in the semi-final as a result. Great instinct decision by him, he'll be a national hero for that.
  22. I have an answer to the World Cup question that is more puzzling than "why were England so shite?" Grosblie is actually short for Grosbliederstroff, a village of 3,000 inhabitants in the Moselle region of France. It is right on the German border and has changed hands a few times over the centuries (hence the Germanic name). The banner that has been to most games in recent tournaments is owned by a German who lives there, and he also takes it to Bayern Munich games.
  23. I don't think so. With such a high risk of disease............they wouldn't go near him.
  24. Jimmy Greaves, Jimmy Hill. More reasons to enjoy England's failure. All together now: We Hate Jimmy Hill, He's a poof, He's a poof. Classic.
  25. I love that one of the rather dejected WW2 airmen. One of the greatest "FAIL"s of all time.
