  1. The interesting thing about the constituency map IBM posted is that Scotland will be a fair bit smaller when the border regions choose to remain in the UK. Even more interesting is the patchwork map that arises if you show where support for independence is below 50% rather than just which party got most votes. You then have the tantalising prospect of even Edinburgh Central, home of the parliament and Bute House, not being in Scotland. The SNP will of course respect the right of the people to choose their own future because that’s what this is all about, isn’t it? How many thousand times have we heard the line “dragged out of the (European) union against its will”? Same principle applies to any part of Scotland that doesn’t want to leave the UK, they should be granted a referendum and a right to choose. I look forward to the SNP folk getting tangled up in their hypocrisy trying to argue against the very principle that is their raison d’etre.
  2. You hoping for a signed photo?
  3. Time will tell, but we’ve been hearing that for years and nothing happens except a bit of sabre rattling at party conferences and just before each election. She certainly knows how to stay in power. What do you think the Scottish Government will deliver first, indyref2 or those 2 ferries?
  4. All I’m saying is that claims that indyref2 is the will of the people are false, as the majority of the people voted against it, yet again, and on matters relating to referendums it is the people that count, not the number of MSPs. It would be hard for Boris to reject something the majority of Scots voted for but it’s much easier for him to reject the will of the Scottish Parliament seeing as the Scottish Government recently made a habit of doing so themselves.
  5. But the key thing to take from all this is that in this referendum on a referendum, Scotland has once again rejected the SNP and their separatist agenda. And yet we are faced with an FM pursuing indyref2 against the wishes of the majority of Scots and we again have to rely on a UK PM representing the views of the majority of us.
  6. What’s amazing is that so much has changed since last time with Brexit, Boris, and Scotland’s 2nd and 3rd parties having new leaders - and yet the results and share of vote for all the main parties are almost unchanged.
  7. Given Hibs season isn’t over yet but ours is, can he start training with them immediately rather than wait until the summer?
  8. Earlier this century there was a lower league team who collapsed far more spectacularly than Falkirk. Can’t remember who it was but they were well clear at the top of the league at one point. There were rumours on football forums that at that point some of the players put bets on them NOT winning the league but that was probably just speculation to explain their subsequent collapse, I don’t think there was any evidence.
  9. What a remarkable collapse by Falkirk. Two weeks ago they lost top spot, sacked the management team, Gary Holt takes over and things go from bad to worse. Glad they aren’t coming up though.
  10. Edinburgh Evening News reported earlier today that a fee has been agreed between the clubs (but don’t even speculate as to how much it is).
  11. Esson or Christie?
  12. If you pass them over to me, I’ll make sure they reach their appropriate destination.
  13. Wrongly sent off from what I’ve seen, think it was a dive. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
  14. Game just fizzled out, a bit like our season did. No wins in our last 5 games.
  15. Soft penalty but looked right decision to me. Edit - just saw a replay and not so sure now.
  16. I still can’t get into the game after purchasing on PPV half an hour ago. So watching the Raith game on TV just now while trying and the commentators said that Dan Mackay is on the shopping list of several SPL clubs.
  17. Players POTY was a tie between Allardice and Todorov, with Dan Mackay getting the young award.
  18. Winners announced. Carson was supporters POTY, with Dan Mackay getting the “Young” award and goal of the season.
  19. I don’t think he’ll be putting it on his CV. Billy Dodds on the other hand.....
  20. Couple of things to note from this: - County can no longer claim to be reigning champions - Robbo is the first manager to have won the trophy 3 times
  21. So have we now won this competition 3 times, or is it just 2.5?
  22. Players from both last season and this one are busily checking their bonus clauses!
  23. Difficult PotY choices this year. Carson, but also Dan and Toddy, only really came into contention in the 2nd half of the season. Other candidates like Allardyce, Ridgers and Deas were consistently pretty good for the whole season. Incidentally I hadn’t actually realised that Deas qualified for the young player category, he plays with maturity beyond his years and will hopefully stay with us and keep improving.
  24. After getting countless leaflets through the door from all the main parties in recent weeks, I got my first one from Alba today. Rather than chuck it straight in the recycling bin with all the others I had a look and what was interesting was that the Alex party made no mention whatsoever of Alex.
  25. In the early stages of the season we got ourselves into a reasonable position and things looked bright with Kai Kennedy starting to rip teams apart. But then we had that long miserable run over the winter months - 1 win in 13 matches, that is absolute relegation form, for half the season. Fixture congestion, issues with the management team, losing Kennedy, whatever, that was when our promotion hopes were battered. The arrival of McCann brought no new manager bounce and we had some absolutely terrible results and performances under him before that amazing winning run that only started when Billy Dodds arrived. This put us right back in contention for the playoffs at the right end of the league. Sadly when it came to crunch time we then failed to win any of our last 3 matches, tricky though they were, whilst our rivals got back to winning ways. Lots of factors at play this season, but one simplistic way of looking at it is that we only took 2 points from Alloa, the part timers adrift at the bottom of the league. Positives - financial survival, a victory over County that will be remembered for many years, seeing Allardyce, Dan Mackay, and Todorov establishing themselves as first team regulars. Negatives - lack of contribution from senior players like Storey, Vincent, Keatings and sadly the injury prone Doran. We really missed Tremarco. And the games against Alloa....
