  1. Out of interest, does it say in the Highland News article how long Wedderburn is signed for? I see that he is only 23, so as previously said by others under the right management, he may flourish.
  2. The lower leagues of Scotland, England and further afield should be encouraged for places to look for players however considering the depth we have in centre midfield of which contains: Tansey, Draper, Christie, Vincent, Foran, Polworth and Horner (Nick Ross Excluded), I just have my doubts as to whether the boy will be a worthwhile signing for both parties - I do look forward to being proven wrong though! I used to use the "look forward to being proven wrong" line myself....but I came to realise that it's just BS. Nobody REALLY wants to be proven wrong and the phrase only serves to say "I have no faith in my own evaluation of the situation and will just place this here as my get out clause". I would quite happily like to see my opinion to be proven wrong as ICT benefit in the situation. I was also wrong with my first impression of John Hughes and absolutely delighted the progress made since his appointment. Granted, my opinion is not a worthwhile one considering I have never seen him play football. On paper it looks like he is coming in to bolster the numbers in the squad which is perfectly fine especially for European football but would he get a game ahead of Tansey or Draper? or even Vincent, Polworth and Horner? I have my doubts however I'm sure Wedderburn will raise to the challenge ahead if the opportunity arises.

  4. Wedderburn's career stats from soccerbase: http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=49805
  5. Yogi, last summer.
  6. Wedderburn sounds more realistic than John Lundstram. Unsure about this move but sounds like another Lewis Horner deal IMO.
  7. Taken from Highland News Twitter John Lundstram?
  8. That season he was with Ross County, I was frequently at their U20s and he used to always coach the young defenders in the team pre match and then often went on to have a good game. He is definitely someone worth having a look at but I'm fairly certain he was a centre back and not left back - which in that case he may struggle to get ahead of Danny Devine never mind Warren or Meekings.
  9. I would imagine that majority at the club are on holiday at the moment, so nothing would really be happening right now. Regarding new signings, we don't really have an urgency to recruite new players. When you see other clubs getting players in now, they've either had a massive number of players leave their club or they're just panic buying. I would hope and trust our club would sit down and analyse the positions needed filled in and see who is the best available to us instead of going ahead and getting in players just for the sake of it.
  10. I see Calum Ferguson signed a first team contract, hopefully see him get a start in the team or regularly from the bench.
  11. Noticed on the premier league website that they have published a list of players who are out of contract. There may be a couple players on there worth a look at. Couple of goalkeepers I wouldn't mind either: Ben Amos or Josh Vickers http://www.premierleague.com/content/dam/premierleague/site-content/News/publications/squad-lists/premier-league-free-transfer-list-2014-2015.pdf
  12. I seem to recall Butcher always saying that the players in the Scottish market were pricing themselves too high for us hence why he always bought from England. In terms of players from the Premiership and the upper teams in the Championship then maybe, but would a player in the lower echelons who we could bring through as Cowdenbeath and now Dundee did with Stewart be demanding megabucks? Not a chance. It really depends on the players that Butcher was targeting from Scotland as we did get Gregory Tade from Raith. You're probably right that League 1/2, the wage demand would not be as high however I would think that some players in the championship would demand a higher wage in which we can't offer. I also reckon that if we went for a highly rated player from the lower leagues then the other factor to it is other teams in the premiership offering a higher wage than us.

  14. Nah, he's crap, plus he came via sevco haha. Maybe the better example, should be robertson, queens park, to dundee u, then 3 mil transfer to hull and scotland call up Spittal came directly from Queens Park whereas Charlie Telfer was the one that transferred from Rangers. Whilst I'm not against the notion of scouting the lower leagues of Scotland, I think we would really need to do our homework with it which would take time.
  15. Whilst that team does look good on paper, the lack of striker worries me.
  16. Noticed on Sky Sports News there, that we play the winner of the game of Orkney vs Halkirk in the North of Scotland cup.
  17. In my opinion, we need to be in a competitive state before going ahead into the European games or we risk repeating what Hibs did against Malmo.
  18. Looking on the Wikipedia page, I wouldn't mind the glamour ties like Copenhagen, Legia Warzaw, Trabzonspor or even West Ham if they make it through. Then again, I wouldn't mind seeing a trip to either the likes of Isreal or Romania for the bants.
  19. Back in January/April you can obviously understand why Vincent would possibly want to leave the club due to lack of first team games. Now that Vincent has been given more games and scored the winning goal for the Scottish cup, then there is no surprise he is going to stay when he has a year left on his contract.
  20. Marley Watkins signs a 2 year deal with Barnsley
  21. Scott McDonald Someone said he was going to Wigan? If not, I think he's exactly what is needed. Wouldn't surprise me especially with Gary Caldwell as their manager but with us having European Football it could still be a possiblity.
  22. Scott McDonald
  23. I'm not sure I agree with that statement fully. Celtic have a massive squad of players with majority of their first team could easily fit into an English Premiership side. By having a massive pool of players without a doubt they will not have enough spaces for everybody. In my opinion if they aren't good enough they wouldn't even be contracted to Celtic in the first place. Celtic seem to have a decent academy, it wouldn't hurt us to take a couple of their younger players who could stay with us on a permanent later on.
  24. This is a route I would go down also. There's a goalkeeper in their U20s I've always been impressed with when I have seen him play - Leo Fasan. Still a young goalkeeper but one that I think would do our team good. There are others we should have a look (some already mentioned and some I personally haven't seen): Tom Rogic, Holmbert Fridjonsson, Michael Duffy, Sam Wardrop, Aiden Nessbit, Luke Donnelly
