  1. We're listening to OAM and there has been very little from the TCS apart from the goal, always a bad thing. Here's hoping it changes and we can start to claw the game back in the second half.
  2. Only as good as your last game- no need for specifics and past glories- Caley may get there - i don't deny it ,but presently they are also -rans. Build a team and take your chances- there is only room for one big fish in this wee pond up here and it's not Caley T. I am so glad that you have set such high standards for your team and your only aim seems to be set around becoming the biggest team up here!! Surely a club of the size and stature (or so we keep getting told) should be setting their sights so much higher than being better than 'Caley T' as you put it. We don't claim to be what we are not but we do have realistic expectations of what we can achieve and are building a team the last time I looked. You are the very reason why I go to Pigtodrie and shout my lungs out and support my team whether we are getting beat or not. Congratulations though, I am sure you got the response from everyone here that you were looking for so how bout going away and leaving us enjoy our forum without reading your crap!!!!!! One question though before you go ............. where were you last season when your team was utter pish, it's amazing what two league games does for the confidence and mind.
  3. Get in!!!!! 2v0, Munro in 38mins
  4. I agree with SMEE, try driving the A96 everytime a home game is on!! At least the A9 has decent straights and is wider etc
  5. We (Me and Caleyjag) can't be there unfortunately, we would love to be but are down in Blackpool for the weekend :_thumbdown:
  6. As a footballer match fitness only comes with playing games from the start and playing for as long as you can, this brings the sharpness that you expect to see as well. Playing a player for 15-20 minutes will not get him match fit nor will it get him sharp so for me Hayes has to start next week, he gave enough today that shows he is naturally fit after his injury and will be 'match fit' very soon. As for changing things for next week, why? Yes the second half was poor but remember we were playing Celtic and they are always going to get chances and be on top for a period of time, lets focus on the positives and move on from there. Changing a backline after 1 game won't help either and the understanding will come over time, give them a chance to gell. I would have been more inclined to change things if we had been playing St Mirren or Hamilton and gave them the number of chances Celtic had and let them play the way Celtic did in the second half.
  7. Personally I don't mind how many players are picked from the same team as long as they are playing well and are the best players that we can pick to pull on a Scottish jersey and they play for it. MacGregor made amistake and was big enough to apologise and admit he made a mistake, I think he was massively influenced by Barry 'Pigeon Chest' Ferguson who is one player I am glad is out of the international scene. I'm sure there are many that will disagree with me on this but we reliedon him far too much and he gave very little in a large number of games. The only criticism of this squad I have is the choice of Iwelumo!! Please can someone tell me what he offers the squad and if you look at the other strikers he is the 5th choice meaning he really is just making up the numbers. Surely if this is the case we should be including a younger player who would learn from being part of an international squad event though he may not play.
  8. The one that always sticks out in my mind was the 1991 Scottish Cup Final between Dundee Utd and Motherwell finishing 4v3 to Motherwell after extra time. I was 10 and remeber being completely overawed by Ally Maxwell who had a complete stormer not to mention the fact he continued to play on with a burst spleen and could visably been seen holding his stomach after every save he made. Thats not to mention the late Phil O'Donnell and the great Davie Cooper. I am sure there have been better finals than this but this ones sticks out in my mind also because it was back in the days when the build up to the game started at 11:00am ish on BBC1 and it was the first final programme I sat and watched from start to finish.
  9. This just shows that the gulf between the SPL and 1st Division is far to much for any team to cope with unless they bounce straight back up to the SPL after relegation, just look at Dundee who have been stuck there for the last 5 years. It furthermore heightens the need for the SPL to wind their neck in and start working with and speaking with the SFL to drastically change the way the Scottish game is run and funded as it's not all about them. Maybe the kind of funding that is available to relegated English Premiership teams is needed in Scotland but obviously this would be proportional to the finances available. Just look at how the Championship has flourished with the 'parachute' payments and there is no way this couldn't work in the Scottish league. In our case I think we can count ourselves lucky that the board got their act together and appointed TB and MM and manage to keep them, yes we went down for a season and the decision to change things, when in the SPL, was made too late but everyone makes a mistake usually upsetting a few people in the process. It is whether lessons are learned from that mistake and I believe they have been, it was a harsh lesson for those running the club that the SPL should not be taken for granted and hopefully we won't see the same management mistakes flare up again. We have a solid basis now to help us stay in the league and I believe we will but there are other SPL clubs that should be worrying about the drop and the financial pitfalls that it throws up
  10. Pretty audacious Must have taken some practice and a few times falling over the ball to get it right!!!
  11. Thankfully the rule probably won't be a hindrence to ICT next season as look at the age of some of our players but I agree it is a stupid rule and a bit outdated like most things in Scottish Football. Hopefully it gets abolished should league restructuring take place. It's also worth noting that the rule states it must be outfield players so effectively if you don't have decent youngsters you could have three redundent subs if you include the keeper!
  12. All three games kicked off on a Saturday at 3pm meaning they couldn't be screened live on ALBA or any other channel in the UK for that matter. These games haven't needed to be moved for TV viewing, it's just another channel trying to pull in a wider audience and I see no harm in it.
  13. Where would sport be without this 'rivalry suff' ........... it's an integral part of every sport and least not football. Has to be C*unty winning the Scottish Cup, the aftermath would fizzle out eventually unlike England winning the World Cup. Look at how '66 crops up in everything and not just football
  14. Agreed, from the minute he lost the ball I watched him and knew way before he got sent off what he was going to do. It was like he was saying well we're gonna lose so stuff it lets make it about me rather than the team. From that point I think it made up Butchers mind and as others have said too give me Johnny Hayes any day of the week. It would have been interesting to see how Imrie would have faired in the last 5 games of the season had Hamilton finished in the top 6? Not very well I would think.
  15. I prefer the 4-2-3-1 formation as it's very versatile and can be adapted far easier than the conventional 4-4-2. For more defensive minded games you can pull it back to 4-5-1 and have your wingers push forward when attacking on the break and that would allow your 2 sitting men to still be effective should you get caught atacking. While defending it packs the midfield and hopefully stops teams playing in the centre of the pitch and resort to long ball. Obviouly with this you are relying on your full backs reading the game well and not getting caught from the long ball or quick counters leaving the centre backs exposed. Teams playing 4-4-2 in my opinion find it difficult to deal with the one sitting AMC player as he floats and can pull either a midfielder or defender out of position leaving space for the wingers to run into and feed the striker. I think sticking to the tried and tested 4-2-3-1 is better to start with and if it doesn't work then change it, look what happened this season when the team got used to a formation and starting line up.
  16. hopefully this is a bit of tongue n cheek?
  17. If anything you've got to applaude the optimism Being a realist no I don't think we can the league but go into each game with the belief we can win it but there's a difference between having the belief and having the capability and resources, for me if the players show the belief that they can go into every game to win it then I'll be happy. If they do have the belief then I am sure we'll comfortably stay in the SPL which should be the ultimate aim then we can build on it and move forward.
  18. Now that scummy Falkirk got a taste of their own medicine today who would you like our first game of next season to be against? Personally I would love to see us start at home against Aberdeen. My thinking is that McGhee will rip the team apart and bring in a whole new squad meaning they won't have had time to gel together yet we have kept the nuclius of our squad and the understanding is there. Out of all the SPL teams Aberdeen are the team I most want us to p*mp next season and seeing McGhee get pelters on the opening day would make me chuckle ......................
  19. As much as it pains me to say so I agree, if they can keep Rooney fit then they are a good bet although they always seem to choke. I would love to see Argentina win it as they have some amazing players however Maradona's shocking team and squad selections during their quailfiers doesn't bode well, it'll be interesting to see who he picks in his squad. My money is on Spain though and even if Torres and Xavidon't make it they still have Villa and can call up the likes of Fabregas too. Expect a few shocks, I think Portugal and Italy may struggle to qualify from their groups and may even take a punt on that.
  20. I take pride in supporting anyone who plays against England and cheering them as loud as I can. Nothing would cheer me up better than seeing them lose in the semi-final to Germany in penalties after Terry skies it over the bar ............... the words 'get it right round yea' would be heard in South Africa from Aberdeen. Although my great dislike of the Auld enemy comes pretty much solely from the fact that they think they have the god given right to win everything and if it wasn't for the media I probably wouldn't dislike them as much (when I say them I mean everyone that wears an Engerland shirt on the pitch) ABE!!!
  21. In terms of coverage it was extremely poor and to not even have a picture of the trophy being lifted was ridiculous, it doesn't matter if we won the league with two games to go or not it still warrants at least a picture especially if you take into account that Livingston won the Third Division before their final game of the season but even they got a picture in the Winner (not quite the full team but still a picture) It is even more baffling when you look at todays Sun and we're spread over page 10/11 which no one has picked up on yet. If you get the chance go and buy one, you'll be able to use these, if you can't get one let me know and I'll post it onto you for your scrapbook for your grandson
  22. In future i'm going to sit a the very back of the mainstand and if I can't get though a game without being told to sit down, i'm off to the North stand. People round about us didn't even clap for the players as thier names were being announced, and some had left by that point!!! We sat in the main stand on Saturday for the first time and to be honest it was more for a better view of the presentation at full time but I'll be going back to the North stand next season so I can sing and shout and get behind the players without feeling uncomfortable ............... I wasn't told to sit down but was waiting for it.
  23. I'll buy them anyway no mater what design it is. I do hope that the material is changed though as the away one was shocking this season, mine is full of pulls and little rips but I didn't mind the design on the top.
  24. ...................... oops look like Caleyjag was logged in on my computer and I didn't realise before I posted this :D
  25. It was so selfish of TB to block me out of the photo, anyone would have thought it was all about him I'm not in the P&J pic but was reliably informed this morning by Caleyjag that I was in the one in the centre pages of The Sun :P
