You'll be voting "leave" then?

Farage may well sign him up. Prof blames the EU for a lot, but he doesn't blame it for a toaster he doesn't know how to use.

Scottish Cup 2016 - our defence of the trophy!
robbylad replied to Sneckboy's topic in Caley Thistle
Is the draw at 4.45 in case they needs to heat up two of the balls? It could be held at Easter road straight after the final whistle. -
Can I take that to the bookies?

Thanks for that DD. Part of me thinks this is a huge decision and another part wonders what difference will it make to ordinary people? I can't help feeling the waters will just be muddied further the closer we get to the big day. I'm with you in that at the moment I would probably vote to stay in. On the other if there was definitive proof that we'd all benefit from leaving........ I don't expect anything other than the two sides hissing at each other. What I think will be the most fascinating part will be what's left of the Tory party once it's over. At the moment they're making all the right noises about party unity and how they'll all work together regardless of the result. As the date nears and if polls are close, they'll tear each other apart. I also hear a lot about Scotland being more in favour of staying than other parts of the UK. I'm not convinced of that. People I've spoken to seem pretty sure we should leave. The depressing part is most of them see immigration as the big problem. Not too sure it's a big problem in Scotland and when asylum seekers are blamed for everything, I don't think we'll get reasoned argument. One final point, do you think there could be a low turn out in the devolved parts of the UK? I worry that voters may not be too inclined to go to the polling stations twice in as many months. It's often difficult enough to get people to vote every 4/5 years.

Ok. Since DD doesn't want to talk about the EU in the "Eu in or Out" thread, does anyone else on here think that employees rights are at risk by leaving? I realise a lot of people think the Tories would like to strip away a lot of them but what are the chances of them pulling that off? Would we find ourselves paying more for imported goods due to increased tariffs or, is this all part of "project fear2"?

Dear Mr. Dad, I'm well aware that we are part of the UK. I personally can't see independence in the foreseeable future. With that in mind, I wondered what other posters thought of the upcoming referendum. You stated in your first post that you don't know enough yet to make a decision. Well, fancy that? Neither do I. That's the only reason I hoped to find some informed opinion. It isn't any secret that the SNP have an agenda. Every party has. I thought the original post was to discuss the pros and cons of EU membership but some folk just can't stop obsessing over the bloody snp. This decision is far bigger than any political party and if folk can't rise above that........
-
I take your point IBM but we won't be voting for anyone. As far as I'm aware, neither the snp or any other party will be on the ballot paper. I just hoped this thread would maybe throw up a few pros and cons regarding the EU.
-
I rest my case.

I had high hopes of this topic helping to make an informed decision on how to vote. Should have known better really.

The ball was burst.

Didn't stop us trying to get Stokes.

Reports that County are trying to get Goodwillie on loan from Aberdeen. Why aren't we trying for that, perhaps as part of the Tansey deal.

Always good to beat them but it was far more fun when Adams was in charge.

Performance of SNP in exercising devolved powers.
robbylad replied to Charles Bannerman's topic in Serious Discussion
Unfortunately DD, it isn't possible just to raise the income tax on the better off. It would have to be raised across the board, hitting everyone who pays tax. Anyway, I'll take this opportunity to wish you and everyone else in these parts a very merry Christmas. -

Can you provide some proof of these "warnings and recommendations which have been ignored"? It would also be nice if you'd tone down the hyperbole. Commuters being inconvenienced is not my idea of a "catastrophic event". I think you may have a "stiffening truss end" for winding people up. -
Even if Scotland returned 59 Labour mps, the Tories would still be in power.

If Yogi goes, it won't be for ambitious reasons. Realistically, Dundee United are not going to win anything that Caley Thistle can't. Top 3 finish, occasional cup triumph and European football. They're never going to win the league. In my opinion it can only be about money and being closer to the central belt. Sad if it comes to pass.

Just been told it leaves at 1.15pm.

Not usually one for political chat but.....

And your point is? Are you saying "Rabid ravings" is so much more offensive than "paranoid outpourings"? You choose to believe one "truth" and I choose another. Neither of us have a monopoly on that. But my problem with your posts Charles, is that they drip with sneering condescension. You like to portray "cybernats" as divisive. You sure as hell aren't bringing anyone to your point of view by making reasoned arguments. Constant "jokes" about Nuremberg rallies and "mein Banff" are just puerile and I would've thought below you. Then again....... -

Interesting to observe that when these people feel contradicted or challenged, they consistently resort to holding up the paranoid outpourings of Separatist "bloggers" as the absolute truth whilst reverting to the feral behaviour of the nationalist street mob. Better get that second referendum in soon chaps - before too many more of your supporters tumble to the fact that the backside has actually fallen out of the oil thing! Interesting to observe that when these people feel contradicted or challenged, they consistently resort to holding up the rabid ravings of the Tory dominated press as absolute truth whilst reverting to the sneering sniping of the terminally cringe infected. -
Performance Of Labour MPs At Westminster

Only Kezia Dugdale talks about the SNP more than CB. -
Heard on radio that Eremenko told Killie to shove their offer. A possible target?

Given that the police, presiding officers and various local authorities have all confirmed that there has not been a shred of evidence of intimidation anywhere in Scotland, perhaps you would confirm where you came by your 'information'.A somewhat legalistic observation, if I may say, in an environment where, amid all the saltires that fly from cars with impunity, I would certainly never risk my insurance excess by flying a Union flag from mine.Impunity???? Why should anyone be punished for displaying their national flag? They wouldn't. That's the whole point. Saltire flyers can do so with impunity - which is "freedom from the injurious consequences of an action". I would not rely on anything like the same level of impunity for fliers of Union Flags.Assertion and smear. Your statement suggests that you think they should be punished.
