  1. You sure he wasn't talking to .... about what he was having for dinner. Probably mince !!! More chance of seeing thon fat mannie that stands about Queensgate all day (who's picture doesn't seem to have made it online yet)
  2. CB - I always doubted that the number of stayaways was significant, but if someone like your good self who is steeped in Sneckie football is questioning their influence, then maybe there are more than I am aware of, but I've never seen or heard any evidence to support that. I can however vouch that their is little support for ICT from the likes of the Nairn football fraternity except when the OF come to town, when I spot them nestling scarfless among the home support. As I've said before, if these people have the mentality to continue supporting the OF when they are born and bred in the Highlands, then ICT are better off without their narrow minded ignorance. Best of it is, most of the Weegie OF supporters think they're a bunch of f@nnies too :015:
  3. Wasn't there, and haven't seen it on the box, but Duncan is usually excellent at sticking to his task of cancelling out the oppositions biggest threats, wouldn't be like him to be posted missing. Looking to next week, replace Roy with Black and we'll maybe see a bit more creativity feeding the front men. As for who should partner Bayne, well the choice aint exactly enormous but it needs freshening up, we looked like we couldn't buy a goal recently, the only real option is McSwegan on from the start with Rory coming on once the Swegster's knackered. There just aren't any magic wands to be waved to produce a matchwinner from the back room unless Ritchie Hart is on his way back. As my old granny always said, you can only p**h with the c**k you've got ! Alex - I know feck all about football which is why I'm stuck in the middle of the feckin north sea, but this is more interesting than what I'm supposed to be doing right now and it passes the trip.
  4. It's a great idea, the top team from the bottom 6 all get a marvelous personalised timepiece as a momento of their achievements..... More seriously though, it does keep the interest up, compared with being mid table in a bigger league where games rapidly become meaningless around this time.
  5. Check Mannies link fae that gemme, great day oot,eh wiz still at Alness and Bobby Geddes got us compo's as his Brother in law wiz in the RAF wi us Nairn gemms Still think Dee V Hibs 3-3 was best eh ever saw Thanks for pointing that one out HD, and compliments to the Mannie for his efforts.
  6. Meadowbank Thistle 1 - Nairn County 2, 11th Jan 1986 Closely followed by County's home game in the next round against a flukey Dundeh side who sneaked 7 breakaway goals completely against the run of play at Station Park Happy daze in the cowshed :001:
  7. For me, Saturday was a real driech mid winter 0-0 draw if ever I saw one, the experience suitably enhanced by the cutting East Coast wind, but if either team deserved 3 points it was probably ICT, but there wasn't much in it. For my Edinburgh trip entertainment value it ranked well below Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and for excitement it was on about a par with the fossils department of the National Museum but not as good as the witch-hunt and guillotine display in the Scottish section.
  8. The Dundee Arabs have undergone a religious transformation in the last few years - they used to be Sunni's but now they're completely Shi'ite.
  9. interesting, but what a hellish picture of CC, he looks like phil cool :010:
  10. too intellectual for this humble punter but funny none the less talking of footballing socrates....
  11. Is Robson the only one to have avoided the Highland curse, he hasn't exactly gone on to superstardom, but his career didn't go into freefall when he left. He is indeed a whining irritating erse, but I'd have him back to replace Barry Wilson when he finally runs out of steam. (before anyone pulls me up, by that I'm not implying that Wilson is either whining, irritating or an erse, quite the opposite in fact :001:)
  12. Perhaps it was the proximity to Murrayfield, but our defence hit more up and unders than Chris Paterson did next door -only to zero effect.
  13. there's rugby on at Murrayfield later on so it's been brought forward to avoid a clash
  14. Its not a hike - its the standard price for an 'A' rated game : TICKET PRICES Maybe I should have used 'price differential'. As I said, £60 for a kids season ticket in the family section is very reasonable, it's a good bit less than I thought it would be, under £3 per game by my calculations. To charge the same kid nearly 6 times that price to come to a cup game seems disproportionate and very hard to justify.
  15. Buenos noches BNP - as far as I can see, merger stayaways and Highland OF fans come out of the same prehistoric mould and ICT are better off without them. The Perth 6000 only seems to prove that there were previously 5500 fairweather football fans in inverness, of those, 3000 have been converted to regular attenders which is pretty good going.
  16. It is a disproportionate hike by any measure though. As I say, I'm not personally affected, and I don't grudge the price I pay for my tickets at the gate (well no more than I grudge paying for anything, being a miserable tight git) but I'd have thought there would be some discount for season ticket holders, the kids at least. I suppose you could argue that the reasonable price for the season tickets makes up for charging full whack for cup games. I really am a bit naiive with these things though, which probably explains why the directors are all wealthy whilst I remain poor.
  17. As a pay-at-the-gater who doesn't have to take any kids along I wasn't too familiar with season ticket prices so I just checked and it is indeed some mark up and it has changed my tune a bit - £17 for a kid for one game against £60 for a season ticket in the family section! Hard to justify . Definately something for the supporters trust to pursue.
  18. As long as it's no the highly paid IHE I suppose, when you think about it, the new HIE office has a Howden End
  19. given that there's an egg-chasing match on later, is Diggers likely to be stowed out ?
  20. He won't be back until March according to todays Courier
  21. There are presently whole departments of highly paid consultants and researchers at the HIE and UHI dedicated to carrying out high level research into this very subject. They expect to reveal their findings in about 2020 with the publication of a 10 million page report and I wouldn't like to try and pre-empt their findings by commenting any further at present. :017:
  22. He's played 3 games, and only conceded 2 goals to the runaway league leaders, both of which were the result of howlers by the defenders, I don't think he could have done much better for a start in his new slot.
  23. Shane Fenton became Alvin Stardust [img width=600 height=450] not Shaking Stevens
