it was rumored brewster was being paid 160,000 a year by dundee united, we matched their offer before he left

i said it on another website last night but it was good for christie to get a few things off his chest in 'that' summer interview. what he really didnt help himself in doing was bringing up the effect his working life was having on his family, that was when the questions really started getting asked, theres some things youre just not supposed to talk about with the media.. now every second post is saying 'enjoy spending time with your family..' or similar, we're all talking about it when really its none of our business how he spends his time. no wonder he felt under pressure, it was self inflicted, his private life shouldve been a sanctuary from ******s like me and 3-1 home defeats to dunfermline. it was he who invited in the observers into his private life, he then had nowhere to hide. if he does manage again in football then he needs to be a bit more savvy with the media will he stay with ict in some capacity? i hope he has bigger balls than that and leaves for good

not completely the defenses fault from the highlights ive seen, they were left totally exposed by the midfield and had to move out of position. if munro was at full pelt and FIT then he wouldve cut out the second cross

if neil warnock is genuinely interested then we should go for it, even if its just for one or two seasons he would certainly save us from relegation this time round hate to think what kind of instructions he'd give to black and roscoe, didnt he say on that football manager documentary he wouldnt care if an opposition player broke his leg if it helped sheffield united win? easily the most hated man in english football amongst other pros, i say we snap him up asap :017:

Anybody here ever lived and worked in the USA?
clacher_holiday2 replied to clacher_holiday2's topic in General Nonsense
Some interesting stuff coming up here. I have no idea what would happen to me, not knowing what I want to do is as big a stumbling block as not having the relevant experience or qualifications to do something interesting. Any move to the new world would be a mistake unless I was 100% sure of where I was going and what I wanted to do. I'm not quite there yet. I'm not sure if I want to goto Florida, the original plan was to head to the north west or possibly California, I appreciate all the replies on this thread (and the pitch to Canada!) but I have to try not to think about it until its set in stone, in black and white, that they'll let me in. I'm not a brickie, welder, mechanic etc. I dropped out of University in my 3rd year and have drifted between jobs since. I have had a couple of professional roles and am currently denying a University graduate a job I should never have been interviewed for, I'm really only now gaining real experience in the big bad world of work, if I'm honest I dont think I'm ready to go anywhere. That isn't a confidence issue I'm just being realistic, anything I could blagg my way into could just prove too difficult, theres no guarantee I could deliver. The difference between failing in a job in the US and failing here is that in the UK I have a natural support network that for the foreseeable future will always make sure I've got somewhere to work or live, should whatever path I choose go tits up. Its all academic for now, I've no idea when I'll hear back from the embassy. I just need everybody to cross their fingers and hope I've got an absolute b#stard of a choice to make over the next few months. -
what makes you think he doesnt have a shoddy 6 month rolling contract at partick similar to leveins at raith?
-
donald park is a total pushover, the players respect him because he works so hard doing things like cleaning up at 7am before training or pumping up footballs but he is not manager material the senior players in the squad would run rings round him terry butcher would be my number one choice, no question about that whatsoever, sadly if what caleyd is hinting at is true then such a commanding figure will never be considered. im still trying to gather my thoughts on the days events, i havent decided how i feel about it all or what will happen next

i agree with davieb 100% :clapping03:

pressleys legs have gone, hes been awful at celtic,

i think what brewsters gone through since leaving makes him a very interesting candidate for the top job, now would be about the only time he could come back and do well, leaving it another 5 years (for example) would be a mistake. hes had the stuffing knocked out of him but seems to have started this season well, he may finally be ready to hang up his boots. i would hope his previous arrogance would have taken a hammering, all the better for his future prospects. i dont think him being a manager in the past should be an issue, nor should the manner in which he left, we can be more mature than that. id hope he would view coming back as a big step forward for himself and an admission he's f#cked up elsewhere. he knows the club well and we all know him, if he has changed as a man then he should be given a second chance he'd certainly get the best out of the front line and nicolae in particular. i sometimes wonder if not being fit enough really is our biggest problem, the squad we have is far more talented than they get credit for. it would give the players and the fans a lift,, id certainly give him my support. christie remains in place for now though and saying the above is probably very premature, im sure there would be a number of candidates should he step down this week.

what isnt a rumor is that last year he admitted he couldnt hack the pressure, also the skepticism of his appointment has been lingering since day one, this is nothing new. being able to handle the responsibility, stress and pressures of management were never an issue with robbo or brewster. neither was perfect but their playing experience meant they could breeze in and take over without breaking a sweat, they had all worked and played through everything (good and bad) that could possibly be thrown at an spl team. charlie never had that opportunity beyond a bottled spell at celtic, as i have been saying from the start his poor playing career was always going to hinder him as a top flight manager. compare his role to an equivalent managerial position within a proper firm. if said firm hired an operations manager with no experience, qualifications or track record there would be serious questions asked from the outset and the pressure would be sustained, at the very most they would be hired on a trial basis. icts turnover will in the next couple of years (should spl football be maintained) creep over the ?4million a year mark, the success of the whole organisation is dependant on his ability to deliver a product. admittedly not solely his responsibility on the day but he is the key figure in making sure the whole operation is ticking forward, if he fails then the consequences will be felt all over. he not only has to be good at his job, comfortable, happy and aggressive in meeting the challenge; he has to be able to remain objective when picking his own performances apart as well as of those below him. if he is none of those things and cannot handle the pressure then why the **** are we entrusting him with the stewardship of the first team? blind loyalty for his contribution towards finishing as runner up in the second division? ultimately the reason for him being employed was just that, his rep with the fans. the board have done well in attracting young and promising managers to the club in the past and were (and remain) in an excellent position to attract top quality personnel still, why we dont have the guts to bring in a coach who we could one day have to defend from head hunters is a mystery to me. we're clearly not in the position that we were in when brewster left, we dont pay the lowest wages in the league anymore and could make an excellent offer to pretty much any manager outwith the english premiership and championship. we could actually have a first team boss who doesnt buckle under the weight of about 10 people on a website bo-ing him, who could maybe train a team to full fitness before the season starts and assign them some tactics before a match day.... that would just be a bonus!

Anybody here ever lived and worked in the USA?
clacher_holiday2 replied to clacher_holiday2's topic in General Nonsense
When I moved to Edinburgh last year I made friends with two Americans, one in particular, who was the first to tell me in person how different each country was to live in. He first came over here purely to see the UK but after a while looked into making it a semi-permanent move, that was until he realised the opportunities for him to work in the media (his degree was in film making and he has already done alot of interesting work back home) was next to impossible. The allure of working and living in a foreign country was always there for him and remains so, but as interesting as his life was becoming in Scotland he had to be honest and admit there was no future for him here. Certainly nothing like the life he could make for himself back home. He was the the one who nudged me in the direction of making the initial application, at the time I had a minor inkling of where and what I'd be looking to do over there but now the situation is very different and if I am granted the temporary visa then I'll basically be flying out there next to blind. He moved home a couple of months ago and I've been in touch with him since, in that time hes had three jobs, each better than the last, in Denver, Seattle and now Miami where he is likely to be working for the next couple of years. The original offer was for me to go and stay in his brothers old flat, with him, in Seattle while it was lying empty, work was something I was going to concentrate on finding in the mean time. Things have changed though, he now works for a Christian animation company in Florida (retelling bible stories through little woodland creatures (!)) and loves it. My hesitancy in booking flights and job hunting has nothing to do with the circumstances of the only person I know living in the States changing, all thoughts about me moving out there took a big step back when I was promoted into my current job. For the last while I've thought its more than enough to keep me here in Scotchland and happy. I even have the chance of buying a house for the first time (though I trust ADVFN's daily emails reminding me to avoid it like the plague!), its never been an ambition of mine but it is a big indicator that things have changed. If you'd told me a year ago I'd be typing that now I would've laughed in your face, I was unemployed in Inverness and living off gambling, p1ssing away what I won (for a month it was ?60-100 a day, that took alot of p1ssin' for somebody like me) and not covering what I lost, I really didn't have a clue what I was doing. But I moved on and then moved on again, so not surprisingly I've been getting itchy feet once more. No matter the outcome of this 'review' I'll be moving back to Edinburgh soon, within the month possibly, this might sound crazy but I'm willing to take a lower paying job with no prospects for what is essentially a lifestyle move. I'm well aware that it could be a big step back but I'm going to take my chances and see if I land on my feet or my face, either way its a safer option than staying out here and going f'ing nuts with boredom (see the topic entitled 'Best week of your life') ! If and when I hear back from the embassy, or even when I take the initiative and go visit the consulate/embassy myself, it could possibly throw an excellent option my way. Once I'm at that juncture, should the review of my application come back positive, then the biggest issue would be that of employment. Whats been made obvious this past 4-5 months is that all I really want from my working life is to earn enough to live comfortably while enjoying it, the more 'comfortable' the better! Will finding a combination of the two be easier here or in anywheresville USA? I've no idea, I wouldn't want to fly there and wash dishes or fold sheets for 2 years, thats about all I can see myself doing (at the moment!). What is for sure is that I'm not going to count my chickens before their reviewed, if I find something worthwhile in Edinburgh then this entire message I've typed in work mode (ie. capital letters) will all be consigned to history. :sillywave: -
What would you do with a 35 million lottery win?
clacher_holiday2 replied to Johnboy's topic in Caley Thistle
with that kind of money i would own the club and have all my evil schemes (to reward the few fans who do turn up) running by the start of next season. basically the plan would be to have the fans pay for a heavily reduced season ticket (?120 maybe?) but assume the same group can stump up the cash shortfall (plus a bit more) through other all year round ventures, such as regular bowling events, poker comps, club bar, gym, strip shows, dodgy loans, peg selling etc anything that turns a profit. the idea is simple, the average punter gets more for their money than just a seat at a football game and the club earn more over the season than they do by offering bottom of the league garbage. oh and christie wouldn't get a 1 year extension. nor would he be sacked, id just buy the heathmount and make him be first team coach there, id hire ian mccall for the football and all parties would be satisfied. especially ian, id even let him bring in a player or two id watch all the games on tv from my yacht in the med, where i wouldnt give a monkeys scrote how ict were doing in reality. id be too busy having coke parties with a team of scantily clad italian slags with my new pals simon cowel and alistair campbell. we'd be total pirates but first of all when the sun or record came to take a picture of me holding a massive novelty cheque id scribble 'no bawd lyke' on it somewhere and where a caley top with 'rightynuff mun' on the back -

clacher_holiday2 replied to clacher_holiday2's topic in General Nonsense
hmm you may possibly be wrong. ive been to the consulate in edinburgh twice but all other correspondence has been by mail unless i have to go through all the bits of paper every time it gets to the embassy stage? the consulate in scotland isnt supposed to directly deal with immigration but they do seem to take applications for temporary visas so maybe youre right, ive no idea, its a bit late to be calling them! -

:015: :015: :015: :017: if i was making a fortune on online gambling i wouldnt be up for paying tax on it anyway. scotty- asking on here didnt cross my mind at first until i looked at the supporters map, perhaps a bit early for that! theres millions of websites with the information im looking for. this place must be my comfort zone! -
no it isnt, i used to live there :017: the house was worth 3 million pound i have to admit but the area (and city) was nothing like it used to be. had this arguement with my father dozens of times, hes under the impression theres still a stong scottish led, international elite living in the city who control all the academic and judicial institutions of scotland i believe otherwise!
