  1. Just from the fans of other clubs on forums. Apply that question to every member on here who mentions something regarding a manager or player and you'll see how ridiculous it sounds, you cant expect people to only post or form opinions based on a face to face meeting. In fact if memory serves from my distant past as a mod on here, if I had met a player accusing the manager of being a bully or abusive, I probably wouldn't be allowed to post it anyway.
  2. The more I read about his treatment of players at all of his past clubs, the more bewildered I am about this appointment. The hardest part to take is that he has been given a 2 year+ deal, giving him ample time to dismantle our current squad, regardless of how we see out this season. Isn't part of the recruitment process checking references? Which of the previous clubs hes been sacked from gave him a thumbs up?
  3. Was Terry Butcher's managerial record prior to coming here not mediocre? Were the thoughts of Terry Butchers previous club's fans not somewhat negative? Did Terry Butcher not then go on to confound those same records and thoughts? John Hughes may not be what you had hoped for, but can you not give the man a slim chance before calling for the board to be sacked and describing the situation as a shambles? Terry Butcher was part of a team, on his own the man was a menace, lets just hope Hughes has some decent back up.
  4. lol. The irony of that post lost on you ubern?
  5. There are legitimate arguments against installing Hughes on a 2 and a half year deal, not solely based on his mediocre managerial record but also the thoughts of his previous clubs fans. He has left every job at the end of a terrible losing run and nobody was sad to see him go. The "masquerade" on here is your demonising the people questioning the decision as hysterical idiots, convincing yourself you're being sensible and calm in the process. Youre fantasising over the days of supporters ignorance is a testament to your poor judgement, you want to ignore the various legit reasons Hughes shouldnt be here in favour of happy-clapping. CLAP CLAP CLAP
  6. Sack the board. What a ******* shambles.
  7. You all do realise this Hughes playing good football thing is a total myth?
  8. Have to echo the comments about us joining the SPFL merry-go-round being the most disappointing aspect of this move. Moral and motivation were sky high after Butchers ego left the building, everyone had a huge weight lifted from their shoulders and with the foundations in place for the next 2 seasons, this was looking like the first top flight one that I wasnt expecting a mediocre and dwindling 'collapse' to. This isnt the first season we have had a great start but its the first where the main components of our squad are not going to be signing pre-contract agreements or pissing around with deals with us for the remainder of it, which not only settles the integral squad members but it settles everyone else around them. We are a remote club, in a small town in the frozen north, a lot of these young guys have had to move hundreds of miles away from home to get a job. Offering them a stable and happy enviroment is of the utmost importance to them maintaining form and being willing to work hard in training everyday. All clubs that are successful in the longer term are places where players want to be and stay, up until the news broke about Hughes we had the potential to get there ourselves, to put together a competitive team that lasts more than half a season. We're not there yet, we could be but its very fragile, the wave of optimism and relief when Butcher left was critical for us to harness in putting together deals for the rest of the unsigned players. We have no budget at all compared to clubs in the rest of the UK, it could all go tits up with one bad training session. So my issue with Hughes- at no point in his career has he been with a club through a sustained successful or settled period as a player or a coach, almost all of the other names mentioned have been at least once in their careers. This means that he has no experience of the needs and fragility required to manage a squad willing to stay and work hard for each other and the club, rather than just being in it for a wage every month. We didnt need somebody to come in showing high emotions, we didn't need a new leader, we didnt need a career long failure to try and motivate a sqaud with long term potential and we sure as **** didn't need to destroy the goodwill that came with the lads being trusted to take responsibility for themselves for a few games. Main point is that what we have just now is fragile, Hughes really isnt the man for the job. We needed somebody who had spent a prolonged period with one club and found success there as a player or a coach, who could step into our current dressing room and instantly know what hes looking at.
  9. If John Hughes take over then our chairman needs to go hand his award back.
  10. I guess its just my ignorance of how bad the internet situation at the stadium is! I have to admit I havent heard of Glenboxes before and have no idea what they are.
  11. I refuse to believe it costs £3000 to broadcast live commentary from our Stadium. What equipment do you need beyond a couple of good quality microphones and a laptop computer? It's not as if the people listening in have to be directly connecting to a server in the stadium for it, there's dozens of services out there designed for exactly this need that will handle all the heavy lifting. http://www.shoutcast.com/broadcast-tools Theres loads of shoutcast hosts out there that hardly charge the earth, this was top on a google search -> http://voscast.com/plans/ Shoutcast seems to be the choice of the people in terms of software, which is why you'll probably get the best deal using one of their hosts. Unless I've got this wrong, you only need to have the bandwidth to stream to one host, who then pass it on with a delay, much like the way the BBC do it (think their radio delay is about 60 seconds). I suspect that there would be quite a few games a year you would see an awful lot more than a couple of hundred listening in, especially if we've playing a bigger SPL team and ICT are the only ones covering it live, a sponsor wouldn't be out of the question. The biggest barrier to this for me would be the time and energy of the volunteers. And the talent lol
  12. Great day for ICT, about time we let the heathmount mob go extinct.
  13. Robbo left with well wishes from all of us but he still left for Hearts which cannot be forgotten, if he were to come back and do well then he'd probably make the same move back to them again at some point.
  14. The manager at the time of Gypsy-gate was Charlie Christie, I suspect his footballing contacts barely extended beyond Aviemore.
  15. I always had a problem with Sutton as a player, he'd cheat and elbow his way through matches but then put on that spoilt brat screwed up look when he got booked lol.
  16. I have to admit, very surprising. Excellent news.
  17. The reason I wouldnt want Robbo as manager is hes too fat.
  18. Anyone but Di Canio, Barry Ferguson or Adams.
  19. International management is totally different from club management. Coaches like Levein and Burley were horrible choices for Scotland as neither were ever likely to make an impact with players who only see once every month or two, for a couple of days, they were never going to build any rapport in that time. Somebody like Strachan can instantly get into the head of a player, he is vocal and wears his heart on his sleeve, he looks to me the type of guy who can speak to a player for 30 seconds and they'll know exactly whats expected of them. The other side of being a big character, being outspoken, is that you can make a total arse of it at club level. Somebody like Strachan (or Souness is a better example) will just **** players off long term.
  20. Its not even our best ever starting 11, just a very good one, the rest of the league is much weaker than in previous years with no Rangers, an uncompetitive Hearts, the rest even more skint than normal and even Celtic were mostly in 2nd gear last year. Our best ever 11 was the year we had Fraser in goals, with Hastings, Munro, Dodds, Tokely at the back.. Rankin, Black, Duncan and Cowie in the middle and Nicolae and Bayne up top. That 11 would finish 2nd at a canter in this SPL. I think Christie was the manager then who managed to 'k up our best ever squad by giving them no motivation at all. Butchers praise in the media and from the support should all be about that year we came straight back up, including the ridiculous winning run, had we finished behind Dundee that season we would probably still be in the 1st Division now, it really would have been a nightmare. It looks as though the foundations for the next couple of years to come look solid with the performance of the youth players in the reserve league, so he's hardly leaving us in terrible shape should he decide to pinch some of our first team players in the summer, we should be fine to stay up next year no problem at all. The rest of your post I agree with, I called it last January in the winter break that we hadn't achieved bugger all, yet there were people calling him the messiah on here. He was totally one dimensional as a coach and was terrified of making subs or dropping players, I believe our form over the previous season and a half has been in spite of, rather than because of the management team. This next change of management is important for next season and the future but for this year I'm going to stick my neck out and predict we will now finish 2nd with ease, no complacency for anyone leading into the winter transfer window at least and hopefully a couple of fresh faces in the squad will carry us through to the end of the season.
  21. apparently not online. what century is this?
  22. So how do the other clubs do it for £5 per month?
