ONE DAY TO GO and none of us can wait. Our Support Driver is safely in Ayrshire and will travel North with Yompa tomorrow. Gringo is currently on his final train for Inverness after leaving Coventry earlier this morning. All the troops will be at the stadium in good enough time for kick off, and will be setting off as soon as the final whistle goes tomorrow night. The aferomentioned route is the plan we are looking at. It's one hell of a challenge, but one we are all waiting to get on with - we're like kids at christmas. There will be a collection at the stadium tomorrow for the new Club Link for Additional Needs (CLAN) Supporters tomorrow pre-match. This is a fantastic cause that hopes to improve matchday experiences for our disabled fanbase, and it's great that they get to benefit off the back of Highland March. Please donate generously If you haven't already done so, and you have a facebook and/or twitter account, there will be regular updates on these services throughout HM9. Highland March Facebook Link Finally I'd like to thank everyone that has offered their support and words of encouragement already for this years event, and we'll see you all in Hamilton
  2. I'd rather not field him purely because a few teams have had deductions in points for feilding 'illegiable players'. RD would now fall into that category, and a points deduction would be unfair on this seasons' efforts. I didnt see Mair grab Russel's throat, but there were two players on him and there was a rash challenge from Mair. As Duncan relatliated verbally, he grabbed mairs arm and as mair came into duncans chest, mair fell down to the deck. it was then the linesman put his flag up.
  3. I was given a text regarding the red card saying it's a 3-game ban. Not too sure of why or even if it's true, but if it is then it surely was his last game for us. My view was that we should have been given the decision considering duncan was fouled. He simply stuck his chest our and down Mair went. Absolute theatrics IMO (Highlights will be interesting). Very harsh to be sent off - it was the standside linesman that flagged the incident and informed the referee. poor show!

The ref seemed to have an ok game, but missed/gave a few soft ones. If Brown's penalty claim was turned down, then he surely sould have been booked for diving, which would have meant a second booking and ultimately a sending off. I'm not going to complain though, aside from the aforementioned foreign officials earlier in the season, I thought they were decent
  5. For those interested in this, Easyjet have flights from Inverness to Bristol on a daily basis. Currently, you can fly down on Monday 11th for ?38 (dep 13:55, arr: 15:15) and fly back on Tuesday 13th for ?28 (dep 12:05, arr 13:30) The train costs ?15 each way from Bristol Temple Meads to Yeovil Pen Mill station, and there is a shuttle bus beween the airport and BTM. I'm sure a bus or taxi wouldnt cost too much to get to Yeovil's ground. Just putting it our there is all...
  6. Except it doesn't even say that! You've got to read between the lines to draw that conclusion. am I missing something?
  7. I dont think the quality of the statement has any impact on the point that is being made tbh. What it says simply confirms 4 of our most loyal and somewhat 'legendary' playing staff will not be plying their trade at TCS next season. The only surprise for me is Munro. I though that another year extention would be on the table at least. Roy, an ICT legend and true gent, has not seen any action in ICT colours for some time, and I think his loan out to Brechin was the first true sign he'd be leaving at the seasons end. Golly too has lacked game time this season, and with Gillet doing well since coming back from injury, he and shinnie may be all the left-back coverage we need? Russell Duncan, who many know I have never rated, had his best season for us last term in my opinion. And a cracker it was too. Perhaps he'd found his level and hasn't been able to match those performances this year? He said himself that he thought he would be the player to be dropped next after any poor performance... a self-reflection on his own performances, or a 'face dont fit' scenario. I am sure only Terry, Mo and Russel know that? Either way, I'd like to personally thank every single one of them for their loyalty towards the club i love, and wish every single one of them all the best for the future. Maybe Dunfirmline and Hamilton will come a knocking after their possible summer clear-outs?
  8. Only ?10 for adults and ?5 for concessions too...

THE ROUTE We appear to have our route finally sorted for the forthcoming Highland March, and the re-introduction of the 'teams' format. Setting off from TCS after our final home game of the season, the route takes us approximately 20 miles to the Slochd Summit, where we aim to aquire some rest (by some, i mean a couple of hour maximum ) It'll be early doors on Thursday morning as we aim to cover nearly 57 miles to Keltneyburn, just ourside Kenmore - a route that will take us over the mountains to Kincraig and along that Highland March favorite, The Pass of Glen Tromie. After a few hours shut-eye (again only a couple of hours) we'll be heading out over Sheriffmuir toward Stirling for another 60-mile day, which should in turn leave us with 20 miles to finish before Kick-off against Hamilton. Those in Team Yompa will be aiming for a complete end-to-end, using only the rest-stops allocated between stages. Team Gringo will be taking the route in a relay format, where a different member of the team will walk for a designated time, before swapping with someone else in the team to get rest. FACEBOOK / TWITTER Although we have the main website (www.highlandmarch.co.uk) we now have a facebook page and twitter account, to allow us more regular updates during the event. That's him signed up for Highland March then???
  11. Read the post above your own junior. You'll note that the two posts were just 3 minutes apart Alex, so..... (he he)
  12. Charles mate, the SPL is predictably unpredicatble and I wouldnt put it past them to have the game on the 3rd... Having said that, it is one side of the old firm we're playing, so the bias attitude toward them may well mean our game being the 4th.

It's funny you should say that PMF, because thats just what we're discussing. Past years saw 2 teams - Team Yompa and Team Gringo. Team Gringo took the more relaxed approach to ensure the End-to-End was completed, whereas the slightly more insane bunch went with Team Yompa and hikes up Mountains or over fast-flowing rivers. It looks like this is the most likely out-come this year also, with TY attempting a full End-to-End, and TG doing it as a relay.

INVERNESS to HAMILTON May 11th to May 14th 2011 Well, there we have it folks. We thought Highland March 7 would be tough from Kilmarnock to Inverness (184 miles). We thought that Highland March 8 was tougher from Ayr to Inverness (203 miles - the first EVER Highland March to break 200 miles) It looks like this year has just become the toughest... With approximately 175 miles to cover in just 2 and a half days!!!! On a presonal note, I just want to get going now. I've been training hard since New Year having covered over 520 miles in that time, and with a planned overnight 12-hour jaunt tomorrow, i hope to be putting the finer touches into my training. BRING IT ON For the past few weeks since my last update, there has been alot of headway with regards to individual training. 4 of the Highland Marchers took part in an overnight 'fact finding' exercise at the back end of last month. With Gringo walking around Coventry, Yompa in Ayrshire, Chumba in Edinburgh and myself in Inverness, we all synchronised watches and set off into the night. Despite an early bath for Chumba (persistant foot problems), Yompa bailing out shortly afterward (recovering from calf starin) and Gringo smacking his face off a kerb stone (see illustration below), we believe it was a positive exercise. We found out not only how better we could prepare, but also what equipment was an wasnt essential, as well as how best to fuel our bodies for the long lonley night. As mentioned previously, this 'fact finding' exercise will take place again tomorrow in an effort to iron out those late-march niggles. All in all, training has been good for the majority, and I took a wee de-tour in front of the Traffic Scotland Webcam, just to prove that A) I was indeed out for a jaunt that particular day, and B) I am an idiot. I am happy to say there has been progress on the fundraising front also. The CLAN Supporters (Facebook link) will be looking to raise funds off the back of the Highland March this year, leaving the Marchers to get on with the task in hand, whilst much needed funds are raised to provide our disabled fan-base with a better match day experience, home and away. Less than 4 WEEKS to go until we set off, and although some routes have already been discussed with anticpation of various possible post-split scenarios, nothing as yet is final. The chances are it'll be predominently OFF-ROAD in an effort to knock off a few miles from the curvature of the A9 and Cycle Route 7. There's the support vehicle, accommodation and other bits and bobs to arrange, so for now it's off to get the maps out, make a few calls, and let these next couple of weeks fly by... BRING IT ON

So the Aberdeen relegation party is still on? cool. Although I dont mind if Hamilton take their place
  16. Cheers Scotty. I tried to look on the SPL site but in the 'fixtures and results' section. I didnt see the 'key dates' section. Anywho, top 6 could be decided tomorrow. Here's hoping it's not.
  17. Firstly, am I right in saying the SPL closes on 14th May? I have checked BBC website, SPL site and others, and our list seems to be the only one I can find with dates for post-split fixtures (obviosuly all TBC after split, of course). Secondly, I notice we have a league fixture against celtic on 1/6/2019... thats some look into the future by our mods.
  18. After St Johnstone's loss to Gers last night, i think it's safe to say it's between ourselves and 'Well for the final top 6 place now. I can't see Hibs beating Celtic, which obviously they need to do, and I can see it being a close game between St Mirren and Aberdeen - and even if aberdeen win, they've got a 9-goal difference to make up with motherwell. IF Motherwell slip up tonight to Dundee United, then I think top 6 is ours for the taking. Who knows really - it's a funny old game, isnt it
  19. Not sure I agree with people who say Falkirk have horrible supporters. Experiencing their reception when we walked to Brockville on the final day of the first Highland March was fantastic, and this was repeated when we took a lap before Highland March 6. I've never had a problem with them outside HM circles either. Granted the way we were relegated leaves a sour taste in the mouth as far as Falkirk FC are concerned, plus I'm not a fan of Steven Pressley, but i cant really say their support is bad. So many other fans (hamilton, OF, aberdeen and Dundee spring to mind)
  20. I understand what you're saying Alex, but some people have teams that wouldn't make it onto a favorites list, and it is these teams we're talking about. (I think ) When I lived in the Midlands I used to hate a few teams... Aston Villa - Because my dad is a former Blues fan and my mates at school used to think like Aberdeen fans of today. i.e. living off their euro exploit decades ago. Stoke City/Millwall/Cardiff - Excuses for organised fights whenever they played. It's football, not boxing! Blackburn Rovers - When I supported Man Utd I couldnt stand Blackburn. I think they cheated their way to their title, and there was too much arrogance in their squad in the form of David Batty, Stuart Ripley, Greame Le Sucks, Tim Sherwood and even Alan Shearer! Hated that. Southampton - Particularly when they thrashed Man U 6-3 at The Dell a day before we went to Weymouth for a day out! Greenock Morton - Most depressing stadium building site I have ever been to and just never likes them Now, since I've moved North, I quite like to see the Midlands teams do well (although I still hate Villa). These days (aside from the obvious) I don't like... Chelsea/Man City - as per reasons already mentioned by others regards buying success St Mirren - Rosscoe is Innocent!!! And their stewards are a bucnh of :******: 's MK Dons/Leyton Orient - Let me down one too many times on my coupons this season

It would be a shame if he were to not don the ICT shirt once more so the fans can give him a proper goodbye, IF this is really the end of his time here. He's a true gent and some may say an unsung hero. All the best at Brechin Roy!
  22. I can only echo what most have already said. Despite a good handful of wrong decisions from the officials, (Goalkick to united when it was a clear corner, tokely's booking for a 100% clean tackle, amongst other things) we cannot put full blame onto them. We were dire, plain and simple. Odi was poor from the start. Frightening how someone with such a poor first touch stayed on the pitch so long. Should have been hooked at half time for sutherland IMO. Rooney was quiet, but he did seem to lack support up top too. Foran worked hard but always seems to defer any blame to other people. I recall in the first half a punt up forward from him when it was miles away from anyone. Ultimately he had a go a rooney who was over on the opposite flank. Crazy! Gillet was excellent when he came on, and I look forward to seeing alot more of him. For me the biggest question mark - and it gets repeated time and time again - is why we continue to go for the long ball punt and not play it to feet? F-knows how many times this happened, mostly in the second half. Doing that basically took hayes out the game, who had made a few decent runs in the first half. It also didnt help Doran when he came on either, and also MacDonald, who struggled to leap highest against their full-backs. United weren't much better, and my Tangerine orange friend who travelled with me yesterday totally agreed. 0-0 would have probably been the fairest outcome IMHO.
  23. When's the semi final draw?
  24. And what were the away team called that day??? Was it not Inverness Caledonian Thistle??? COME ON ICT
  25. here's a wee bit of fact for you... When ICT beat Celtic at parkhead 3-1, Aberdeen drew 1-1 in the same round with St Mirren, after being 0-0 at half time, and 1-0 down for a short period. The original fixture between us was postponed... Now, Aberdeen have today drawn 1-1 with St Mirren, after the score was 0-0 at half time and St Mirren winning 1-0 for a short period. Judging by the weather, our fixture could well repeat itself (although it'll be for an unplayable pitch rather than a broken stadium). History seems to be repeating itself. The omen's are on our side people... (William Hill has ICT down as 13/2 for the win, 18/1 to repeat 2003, and 66/1 for a 3-1 victory)
