I already avoid home games when the 'only two teams capable of winning it' are in town, but for a different reason. The SPL Split adds a more pointless aspect to proceedings, and is perhaps already 'cheating' it's member teams by paying less to a team in 7th despite having gained more points than the team in 6th, 5th or even 4th... It wouldn't surprise me if any NewCo was welcomed into the SPL, but I would certainly avoid any match involving said team. I'll still follow ICT and support my team though. No amount of cheating/tax dodging from the SPL and other member teams can stop me from doing that!!

It would have been great to walk to/from Easter Road. Fitting as it would be for The Proclaimers favorite team to play host to the Highland Marchers, it's good to know we have a potential new route from Paisley to negotiate. Firstly, 3 points on our final pre-split game would be nice. then another win whilst Dunfirmline lose and I'll be happy. No relegation decider to walk to this year please lads!!!

I dont think he's been seen to criticise a fellow team mate since his howler(s) against Dundee United at the start of the month I thought he was deserving of a goal against Aberdeen. He commanded the midfield well and assisted the back line when the pressure was on us late on. More of the same Wednesday please, Richie

It was a pleasent surprise to be able to stand and chant for an entire SPL match without a stweard telling us to sit and be quiet I was, however, surprised not to see too many hi-viz jackets floating about, as according to the Daily Record in the week, Aberdeen were looking to have 'nominated personel' who will be issues with 'megaphones' to rally up the fans. I really did enjoy the chanting. Some old ones, some new ones, and even a shout or two for past players as the game went on. Superb...

I'd like to once more offer my condolences and hugs to Laura, Lynn and Alan. Echoing the words of CD and TM4TJ here perhaps, but he really was a nice guy and 'gentle giant' and will be sadly missed by many many people. Sleep well Dave

I think we're only having this discussion because we haven't won a game in our last 6 outings and with it we haven't been entertained as fans. But as I mentioned before earlier in this topic, we've had very difficult opposition and lost some key players to our squad. Players who were ever present and significant to the 7-game unbeaten spell we'd just came off the back off, are now either out injured long-term or have left the club - Davis, Hogg, Hayes, Shinnie, Cox, Piermyar... Forgive me if I am wrong, but were people not calling for Butcher to go earlier on in the season? their reasons being because, although we were entertaining, we weren't getting the results because the team was new and hadn't gelled. We gelled, entertained, got a good wee run together, and then lost the backbone of that squad and thus haven't won since. It's no fault of Butcher that he's had to play people out of position. We simply don't have the depth in squad to be able to swap a Torres for a Drogba or a Welbeck for a Hernandez. What does irk me slightly with Butcher though, is his constant desire to play Foran for a full 90 week in week out. He's simply not the player he was and Monday wasn't the first time he's (Foran) made costly errors this season and proceeded to blame somebody else. You can even look at his spat with Hayes in the cup as an example of this. Yes, start him by all means. We don't have a deep enough squad to drop him completely, but when he makes howlers such as those against Utd on Monday, it would have surely been wise to hook him rather than Nick Ross for Gnakpa for the final 20-25 minutes?

Hellooooo... Wake up call... Our last 5 matches Celtic Celtic Dunfirmline Rangers Dundee United And you're calling for Butcher to go? May I add to that we had a 7-game un-beaten run prior to those 5-games, including wins over third placed Motherwell and a good Hearts side and our SPL bogie team, Aberdeen. And you're calling for Butcher to go? No midfield... Hayes and Doran are both injured. We lost Davies back to Wolves in January. OTJ isn't fully fit and was probably lucky to make the bench yesterday, not to mention the long-term lay off of Andrew Shinnie. Our only fit midfielders are Tansey, Ross and Foran. And you're calling for Butcher to go? I'm not going to dispute the fact performances and 'entertainment value' this season are anything to shout about. And yes, this is now Butchers team. But stop f***** crying over Grant Munro and Russell Duncan. They're gone. Get Over It. Anyway, who are you going to replace Butcher with? Pele? Robbo now he's free? Or maybe you fancy ABV instead....

Great thing about this event is, if you're like me and don't tend to know what you're doing until moments before a game, you can just turn up and not worry about pre-booking. In fact, sod it, I'll make the trip to the social and take the wifey and kids too. (But they better no annoy me whilst the games on )

Only just seen this thread and would like to pass on my sympathies to his family and friends. I'll echo my dad's comment in that I didnt know Gordy personally, but as a regular name appearing on these very forums, I think everyone saw him as a massive part of the ICT family. Sad news indeed. RIP Gordy

THIS WAS TYPED BEFORE THE VISIT OF CELTIC IN THE SCOTTISH CUP Well, what a difference a festive break and a little confidence can do to a team, hey? Eight weeks have passed since the last edition of Gringo's Gossip and there's certainly a lot to catch up on. What better place to start than our current form and league standing... Eight weeks ago, our team was sitting in 9th in the league, having previously spent the entire start of the campaign rooted to the bottom. Despite being tenth at the moment, the gap between ourselves and bottom side Dunfermline has grown to 9 points. More importantly, with results continuing to go our way, ICT now sit just 3 points (and 7 goals) of a top 6 place - of which is currently occupied by Aberdeen, who have also played a game more. The festive period had indeed been kind to Caley Thistle, and that 'panic button' which was ever present at the start of the season has since been gathering dust in the ICT boot room. An away day at Ibrox was the last time we suffered defeat, and even then the team was unlucky to end the game without a single point following a late strike by Kyle Lafferty. Since then the team have advanced to the 5th round of the Scottish Cup after a replay with Dunfermline, kept three clean sheets in as many league games, and have also seen their first 0-0 draw since an away day in Motherwell just over 12 month ago. Unfortunately, with the good comes the bad, summed up by the horrific injury that Chris Hogg suffered in our December fixture against the Arabs. Following a challenge with Dundee United's Gary Mackay-Steven and former ICT loanee, David Davis, Chirs Hogg suffered a serious knee injury and was stretchered from the field of play after just 15 minutes of play. Guarenteed to be out for the remainder of the season, Hogg started an online blog called The Fightback, which can be seen here- http://chrishoggthef...k.blogspot.com/ - It's well worth a read, and all credit to Chris for putting his experiences into words as he goes through rehabilitaion. We all wish him well and welcome the fact he has been offered a new contract. The month of January throws up many an issue for clubs as the transfer window begins. Already ICT have lost David Davis; Loaned out to ICT from Wolves in August, Davis made good of his time here after a slow start and was an asset in the midfield, and Aiden Chippendale; A Huddersfield loan signing who rarely featured during his time at the Tulloch Caledonian Staduim, mostly because of injury. Now it looks like Lee Cox, somewhat a fans favorite who signed from Leicester in 2009, seems likely to be heading South to Paulo Di Canio's Swindon Town. (Since inititally typing this out, Cox has indeed signed for Swindon, noted in the Highland News as being a figure in the region of £50,000) Coming up to ply their trade at TCS are two loan signings in the form of Claude Gnakpa (from Walsall) and Sam Winnell (from Wolves). Two strikers who, judging by their debuts against St Mirren recently, could add a little extra spice to our current strike force. With the transfer window comes transfer rumours, and no rumour has been more talked about around Inverness than that of Johnny Hayes to Celtic. It must be something to do with him being Irish? Johnny has been magnificent for Caley Thistle since his return from injury, culminating in gaining the captains armband for our away fixture against Motherwell. A game from which we captured our first clean sheet of the season by securing a 1-0 win thanks to a fantastic Gregory Tade effort. I personally can't see Johnny Hayes going anywhere, and the fact the Terry Butcher has started talks of an extension to his current deal can only suggest Hayes is going nowhere. Let's hope that's the case! Away from the teams highs and lows of the past 2 months, there have been a few happenings off the park that perhaps deserve a mention. Firstly the new look CTO website, which came live shortly after the last edition of Gringos Gossip was published. Credit must go to CaleyD and Scotty for their continuous hard work behind the scenes, and also to the rest of the monderation team for their efforts in keeping the site fresh and well managed. I'd also like to say a well done to my step-son, Marc Hurst, who raffled off his signed Ryan Esson shirt and gloves (given to him by Ryan on the final day of our Chamionship winning season) to raise funds for the Archie Foundation just before Christmas. I know how much I love and enjoy my own memorabilia and how hard it would be to part with it, so credit to Marc for parting with his prized posessions to help a very worth cause. With Caley Thistle having to play Celtic twice in as many weeks, both in the League and the Scottish Cup, as well as Rangers at the back end of February, it'll be very hard to maintain the unbeaten run that we currently see ourselves on. I guess it's probably too soon to be taking about the unbeaten run of 2010, but even so, it's nice to dream. Who know's, with the spirit and momentum the team has at the moment, it's probably a dream that could well become a reality...we'll see

CaleyD I love this idea... Down at Fir Park, there was a great bit of this exact thing aimed towards Roman Golabart. Whenever the guy made so much as touched the ball, particularly after a good challenge or bit of skill, one section would shout 'Goooolobart', with the other repeating replying 'Goooolobart'. It's much the same as the start of 'Oh Inverness' with someone in effect leading the crowd to be repeated before an all-together rendition...
